  1. Talk about chalk and cheese! :) I had a Eunos - also red - back in about 1999; so much fun at quite manageable speeds. Fantastic cars and, like the LS400, a game changer. Enjoy the Summer!
  2. So many to choose from: Traction Avant, DS, SM from when Citroen was a briliant company. P1800 for sure. Jaguar XJ12C - William Town's best design. But as a car that made me ache with want for so many years, it's this one:
  3. Welcome from another newbie. :) Out of interest, what did you think of the Legend? And how do you find the IS300 in comparison (rather mroe driver focussed, I guess?)
  4. Alas, as messages on this forum confirm, Lexus won't touch your car because of the LPG conversion. (Which is what made me change my LS search criteria.) :(
  5. Can you park the Soarer offroad? Then the classic insurance works just fine. You won't get much (if any) benefit from your existing NCD, and nor does classic insurance create new NCD, but classic insurance is so cheap it doesn't matter. The last one I had was a supercharged MR2 for about £110/year. Can't imagine the Soarer would be much more. I've got far too many cars, and have had the dance with multicar insurance (not worth it, etc) for the last few years. Now each car has its own policy, some earn their own NCD, others don't.
  6. Haven't quite bought my Lexus yet, but I got here by way of lots of dissimilar cars.Won't list them all, but the closest in type were: Nissan Maxima QX Mercedes W201 2.6 Mercedes W124 E280 I love Sacco-era MBs, but the W126 doesn't appeal as an ownership prospect. :( Current daily driver city car is an Aygo (bit of a contrast!).
  7. I've just found a thread, where several guys mention that Lexus/Toyota will not touch a car with LPG, so that means I'm after a non-LPG car. Thanks.
  8. No longer looking - got one. Thanks.
  9. Hi all. Just introducing myself before reading through the forum posts. I've joined to wise up before buying. This weekend's job is shortlisting GS300 and LS400 from 1998-2000, using Ebay, AT, etc. Maybe the 430 models, too (there doesn't seem to be a lot of fuel economy difference between them anyway!) The first big trip will be a european road trip of about 2500 miles in August. The Other Half will not be very happy if we're stuck by the side of an autostrada with automotive gremlins. So the Jaguar S, various MBs and many other intersting cars have been crossed off the list of contenders. :) I did toy with the possibility of the Honda Legend, but they're rare and never seemed to be as well rated as the LS.
