Guys problem has been diagnosed and resolved today.

I haven't been onsite with the Mechanic but the Large Fusible Link beneath the Fuse Box in the Engine Bay had blown (I believe it's 60A). We've replaced it temporarily whilst we wait for the correct Lexus Part and the car is functioning perfectly.

Also my Battery Replacement of 2 x Cells of the 40 has also resulted in my Hybrid Battery Errors going away.. :)

Good result all around in the end..

Do a job make a job, that's me as well.

  2. If you want to keep up the Lexus stamps in the service book you're going to have to pay Lexus dealer prices, it's as simple as that.

A discussion about Lexus dealer hourly rates recently on here put them at £150 and hour.

Another poster received a quote for new pads and discs on all four corners, £1700.

Wake up my friend and smell the roses.

If the car is nine years old as Steve suggests why would you want Lexus dealer stamps? I can't imagine it would add much to the resale value if you take into consideration the money you would pay for for the stamps.

  3. Get some antibacterial spray from the supermarket, own brand is fine, about a quid.

Start car, put aircon into outside circulation, coldest setting. Close all doors and windows.

Spray into outside vents at bottom of windscreen where the pollen filter is, spreading it all over the vent so it gets into the trunking. Do about twenty squirts and leave it for a minute. You should see it being drawn in. Check the car remains on outside circulation. I use about 100 mls but if the smell is stubborn do it again the next day.

You should smell the delightful fragrance in the car.

Did mine the other day, I do it every few months.

  4. Kwik s**t.

    Take the car back.

Our local Kwik Fit is on a dual carriageway, even if I need to be in the near side lane I steer into the outside lane to avoid any contamination.

Apart from being of no help whatsoever, I amused myself.

My dealer said it was normal & offered no solution.

The pads imho get contaminated & glazed. I tried a few emergency stops but it didn't make any difference.

In desperation I fitted a set of cheap Mintex pads to the rear and the grunt is pretty much gone.

I have a set of  more expensive Textar pads for the front. I am fairly certain Lexus OEM are made by Textar.

    Ed:winkiss:

I noticed my front discs were glazed and mottled when I did my pins the other month.

Never noticed it on my other cars.

  6. Britprius is correct, I've come across this in my old job.

People lock their car and leave the key in range, even though the key is in the house, it's easy for a thief to steal the car because the car and key are still talking to each other draining juice.

  7. The information on the car does not, as far as I recall, come under the DP Act.

The act is about the disclosure of personal information of a living person, not an inanimate object.

They may refuse to give you the information because it's theirs and they don't wish to share it, or company policy states they don't give out that sort of information over the phone. They may give you the information if you turn up in the car.

Lexus Bradford gave me details over the phone, and then tried to sell me a service and warranty.
