  1. Haven’t heard the sawdust tale for a while, Arfur.  .

My car ownership is always long term. What I will do is try the oil change, see how that goes, then look into the internal’s of the diff’, I haven’t had one apart since the ‘70s.

    Thanks for your input.

The posts in the link seem to suggest 'LT' is for non-LSD equipped cars, 'LX' for those with LSD?

Yep, got that, sorry I didn’t notice the link, thanks.

According to the manual I have to get under the car, the diff should be labelled as to whether it’s an LSD or not.

I would expect a non LSD.

  3. Car passed its MOT the other day, the mechanic notice a noise in the differential when he spun the rear wheels, it’s something I’ve noticed but never done anything about.

A change of oil is called for as a starting point.

Where do you get LT 75W-85 GL-5 oil from?

Halfords stock something similar which is reasonably priced but I can’t find any that meets the exact specifications.

Just a red triangle and a message saying "Key not detected"

I see this regularly when my son takes the keys away, to open the gates and garage doors. The car runs fine until I stop the engine. It won't then restart until the key is back in the car.

It is also interesting to note that the doors will not lock, from the door handles, with the keys in the car.

Yes I know it does that when the key’s out of range, but when the car will not start, due to “key not detected” a message comes up telling you to hold the key to the stop/start button.

Wonder if they found a better way of doing the job. I suppose once they have done a good few they will find a better way and advise all Lexus garages to do it that way to save time and get more cars done.

Hope they still washed your car and gave fuel?

Yep........ And advised me to top up the fuel used in the courtesy car.....that didn't happen.    :)
