  1. I know the feeling blackcts,in the last 2 weeks ive had ,airbag warning light on,no cured it,EGR vavle stuck open, now solved,clogged/leaking injector causing hesitation that still needs sorting and now this battery/fan belt
  2. Ive ordered another fan belt now anyway, will fit it when the belt arrives. Has anyone fitted a new belt to the 220d? is it easy to do??
  3. I just happened to notice the belt snapped when i opened up the bonnet this morning. This has obviously been why the battery light on the dash came on and why the battery wasnt getting charged, but i had power steering working just fine when the battery light came on the dash, the power steering only stopped working when the battery died completley ,surely the power steering would stop working as soon as the fan/serpentine belt breaks ???
  4. Hi guys Well it seems after so long been trouble free my is 220d is having all its problems at once ! I was driving along on friday and the battery warning light on the dash came on,and then yesterday the battery finally ran out of charge and now the car wont start. Ive charged the battery and the car now starts but the battery warning light is still on meaning the battery isnt getting a charge off the alternator. I know its not the alternator thats gone as the car will run once started with the battery disconnected. Has anyone any ideas of what it could be ? is this something common ?? anything simple before i bite the bullet and pay for faultfinding
  5. I would think constant revs at full engine temperature would do the trick over around 15mins or more. Surely the idea is that on a run on the motorway the car regenerates its DPF?? motorway driving would be classed as 70mph in 5th or 6th gear I always (in this country) drive at 70MPH ish in 5th with cruise on if possible on motorways on average twice a week and ive never had a DPF issue at all.
  6. Yeah i used a genuine filter, ive checked engine and cant see any visible signs of a problem around the injectors, looks like i will have to bite the bullet and have diagnostics done, thanks for all your help guys
  7. No its showing no fault codes.
  8. My 220d has just started to hesitate a bit and struggle to maintain constant low speed,ie 30mph in 3rd or 4th ect. Ive serviced it regularly, new recent fuel filter, clean EGR, shell vpower diesel ,BG244 thro it every 5k and i use archoil6200.The MAF meter has been cleaned and the DPF shouldnt be blocked as its getting a motorway blast twice weekly. Im assuming its leaking injectors or seals?? Has anybody else had innjector problems that gave the same issues? Thanks steve
  9. Im looking around for a well looked after SE L around a 2010 ish ,seen a couple but not found the right one yet,no rush tho
  10. I am sort of excited at the thought of owning the 250 with its silky smooth engine and gear box.
  11. Due to a change in circumstances i will be doing a lot less miles per year now so it could be time to change my 220d to a 250.I love the car but im worried it wont be getting its twice a week motorway run anymore and could lead to problems
  12. Im not a fan of flushing an engine although theres lots of people who swear by doing a flush,i personally use good quality oil and do regular changes rather than flush,i change at 4 -5k
  13. I use 5ml of archoil6200 just before tanking up,use the markers on the side of the bottle to judge how much you are putting in
  14. The response control or sprintboosters do not add any extra horsepower at all to the car, they just make it more responsive to the throttle pedal
  15. I honestly think that the sprintbooster or racechips throttle resonse device (they both do the same thing) are the best mod for the lexus is220d. It smooths out the dodgy gearchange between 1st n 2nd and also helps with the low down hesitation. All that these things really do,in simple terms ,is press the accelerator down slightly for you all the time but the difference it makes to the driving experience is very noticeable.
  16. Its called response control on racechip site i think
  17. Sprintbooster thing was from racechip website as well
  18. Im getting 34mpg round town at the moment, get 36mpg in warmer months
  19. Forgot to mention my car had the problem that you seem to have when i first got it,i did a full service and used the BG244 for a tank full and it cured it.touch wood its been fine ever since
  20. Yes the BG244 should do the trick,i use it once every 6 months or so just to keep things clean,i also use archoil 6200 aditive in my fuel which seems very good ,maybe worth trying that as well once you have ran the BG244 through it?
  21. It could be blocked injectors or leaky injector seals,Normally a sign of injector problems when a warm engine hesitates and struggles to maintain a slow constant speed. The problem is maybe getting worse due to blockage or leak getting worse??
  22. Yeah i fully understand why people remove the DPF,i just thought it was now a failure for MOT, its interesting that yours had an MOT 5 months ago with no problem. Im sure i read somewhere that the head gasket issues were sorted after 09 plate but im not certain of it
  23. Not sure on the head/block /gasket but isnt DPF removal now an MOT failure issue?
  24. I bet you do,im sure it will give you many years of happy motoring
