  1. I'm feeling a bit of a mug, I feel somewhat obliged to return to my dealer for maintenance and upgrades. i have just had front tyres (Yokohama E70j) fitted with wheel alignment for £306. i have been quoted just shy of £300 for my front brakes discs and pads. For resale am i best to get all my maintenance done at my dealer or go to an independent? i have a service plan with my dealer so that will always get the dealer stamp in the book.
  2. Sorry, you've purchased a CT200h Sport and not tried the sports mode yet.........what's wrong with you??? 🤔
  3. I questioned the mpg on here and at my dealer when I purchased my car last year as it was advertised to do a better mpg than the Prius I had previously. I have found that up to 40mph the Eco mode is best, above that just use normal. If you are trying to achieve you PB mpg don't use sport at all! I drive about 230 miles to work on a Sunday returning on a Friday so the majority of my driving is motorway, recently I have been driving without using cruise control and have been achieving around 8mpg more than with it on. Travelling at an average of 80 mph I can easily achieve 51 mpg whereas with cruise control on I'm achieving 42/43 mpg
  4. Just a close related question, you're suggesting to increase the air pressure from those stated on the car to 36psi. I always top my air up to the pressure stated on my drivers door frame, I understand how increasing the air pressure will resolve the automatic pressure sensor query, have any of you noticed any change (increase) in mpg with a greater pressure in your tyres?
  5. Beau, if you have any further request for information on this topic I have a 2012 model with sat nav. As previously stated it is accessed through the button on your steering wheel. i can take you through it in picture form if that would help :-)
  6. Although I get a lot of compliments from my friends regarding the quality of my car, the one complaint is that there are no cup holders in the rear. I like the clean lines in my car and hate clutter, so I have already looked for possible contenders. e.g. The fold up style attached to the front seat head rest but they look too tacky. Has anyone resolved this issue with a neat, tidy and quality looking solution?
  7. Thank you all so much for your replies, I have taken on board what you have suggested and will certainly save this for my research when it comes to changing my tyres
  8. Sorry, I meant to say I'm not interested in purchasing winter tyres.
  9. I have purchased a 2012 CT and although my tyre treads are ok at the moment I would be interested in finding out what tyres came with the car when bought new. I currently have Avon's on the front and yokahoma on the rear 17". What are your thoughts on the best type to go for? I'm interested in winter tyres.
  10. I have recently purchased a service plan with Lexus. If you'd like to try an independent for a hybrid car, there's a company in Lincoln called Toyotek. I'd guess there are other types of company like this one all over the uk. Might be worth a search.
  11. Sorry for the delay in replying. It's over 36 months. You did OK getting 5 services, did you get MOT's included or did you buy new?
  12. I now have a service plan with my local Lexus dealer, 15000 miles annually, 10,000 mile intervals, 2 intermediate services, 2 full services including 60000 and 4 MOT's for £37 a month. Thanks for your input :-)
  13. When you click on the config button when on the map screen it will give you the options you are missing and split the screen so that the map will be on the left and the chosen display will be on the right hand side of the screen. If you don't follow this, I'll try and get pics up tomorrow for you :-)
  14. I spoke to my Lexus dealer when buying my car about its economy and was told that the mpg advertised isn't possible unless travelling at a low (around town) speed. To be fair most journeys leaving Gosport are at town speed, Friday afternoon traffic so I achieve a reasonable mpg. I was just surprised with the mpg achieved at 80 mph, something to aim for I guess
  15. Evening all, I have installed cameras in my car purchased from an app called WISH, on my phone. They cost me £15 each, which the normal consumer might think it's a dummy not the real thing. But they come direct from Japan so are really cheap. They have motion sensors & night vision, their only downfall is they don't automatically record over themselves on the SD card (not included), so you have to do that manually on the device every 10 hrs of recording. Good quality recording and discreetly positioned. I am insured with Lexus car insurance and having cameras installed does not lower my premium but may help fight a claim, strangely enough I asked about the Tracking device sold by Lexus and the model they advertise doesn't affect your premium either. Other apps that sell them if you're interested are banggood & geek.
  16. Hi all, let's assume I might travel at 80 mph, and I achieve around the 42mpg mark. Air con off and in normal driving mode. I have found that selecting Eco at high speed seems to have no effect on my mpg. I'm very surprised at the high mpg you are all managing to achieve. What are your thoughts? I travel 230 miles from Lincoln to Gosport & back on a weekly basis.
  17. Although their services may be in line with MB, are there any alternative options to get a service agreement where I'll get genuine Lexus parts fitted. I'll bear the mileage difference between services in mind with my next car purchase.
  18. I'm afraid you assumed wrong. I've got a 12 plate and wanted to spread the cost of the services so enquired about their service plans. Due to my high annual mileage the initial payment was high with around a £50 monthly payment. The plans also included MOT for three years. The Lexus plan would allow me to get my car serviced at any Lexus dealer whereas the dealership plan was just for the Lister dealership in my local town and not their other Lexus dealerships. I intend on purchasing a service plan at the end of the month but was unsure of the offers available to me. My independent garage, for some reason, I guess lack of knowledge of the hybrid cars, didn't want to service my old Prius so I guess they won't touch my CT.
  19. As my local independent garage doesn't want to touch a hybrid car I am considering a service plan from my Lexus dealer. What are your thoughts on the plans available? Who else can I try? Is it worth contacting Lexus UK instead of my local dealership to arrange a plan? Your input would be greatly appreciated, as always.
  20. I don't know if you have already purchased a Lexus in car wifi system yet, but I purchased my own from O2 and it works fine in my car allowing four others to use it. 5GB £14/mth.
  21. So, I've figured out how to remove my centre console and gain access to my 12v cigarette socket. It looks like I'm going to have to splice my new socket lead to the original as there is a moulded plastic connector covering the terminals on the underside of the socket. Will it be as simple as that? (Obviously taking into account ohms law). How easy/hard is it to wire from the fuse board?
  22. I just queried the 12v socket quantity with my local dealer and they have quoted me £100 to install a socket in my glove box as I don't like leaving trailing leads. Is self installation easy or is it best to get the garage to do it? I'm pretty competent with electrics, just not car electrics.
  23. I just arrived at work having travelled just over 200 miles averaging 78 mph and achieving 47.5 mpg. I think I'm just going to have to come to terms with the poor mpg, other than that a very nice luxurious, comfortable and reliable ride :-)
  24. I spoke to the salesman who sold me the car and even he said that the CT wouldn't achieve as high a mpg as the Prius (exactly as mikeyb999 said above, the car is less aerodynamic and heavier). It isn't enough of a loss that I'm going to trade it back in as the luxury of the Lexus is so much better than the Prius.
  25. Thank you very much for your experiences of the CT. Today I drove from Portsmouth back home to Lincoln at a steady 65 mph most of the way and averaged 62mpg surprising myself. Reading the comment above from MikeyB99, you've definitely thrown down the gauntlet challenging us all to beat 72. So when I drive at 72mph I get about 55mpg and at 65 mph I get 62mpg maybe if I drive at 55mph I might get a better mpg but that isn't going to happen as I like to get home as soon as possible as I'm never back for long. Driving back down south on Sunday .
