  1. Hi guys Looking for some advice with regards to the IS Sportcross. I've recently acquired a 53 plate IS Sportcross after 9 years ownership of an IS 200se. What I'm wanting to know is what parts are the same on both cars?? Are everyday items like brakes, brake pads, shocks, springs, etc, etc, the same for both cars or are there differences?? The main reason I'm asking is because you see lots of parts available on auction sites like EBay for the IS 200se but not many for the IS Sportcross and I'm wondering which parts are the same on both vehicles?? Thanks in advance guys for any info you can share.....
  2. Hi guys, I'm looking fo a complete rear luggage cover for my newly acquired IS Sport Cross. I currently have the main cover but it's in a bit of a state and I'm missing the smaller cover that attaches to the boot lid. I'm looking for the cover to be black in colour and also all fitments are required. Thanks in advance for your help guys.....
  3. Tyres finally purchased today. Decided to go for the Falken ZE912's. Thanks to all who posted their comments. Greatly appreciated.....
  4. Right, the tyre choice is now definitely down to one of the two Falken models as money is having to play a major part in the decision. There is only a tenner between the 452 and 912 tyre from where I'm getting them from so it really will be down to recommendations. Does anyone have any positive/negative comments about either tyre?? I'm looking for a good all round tyre with good wear rates. Good comments from people so far and generally the 452 seems to be winning the race unless others can recommend differently?? All comments welcome...
  5. The car feels a lot tighter and more positive on the road. It feels more planted on the road as well. Big difference and hopefully it'll stay that way...
  6. Car geometry done today at CLCM and felt the difference right away. Here's hoping things stay as it should and I get some decent tyre life rather than the 14,000 miles I've managed to get out the Toyo tyres that are on the car just now!!! So, has anyone else out there got any other suggestions for tyres?? I'm curious with what Scudney's concerns are with the Falken tyres being cheap and nasty. Have you had a bad experience with them or something else?? I'm being tempted with the Falken's to be honest with you and am just debating between the 452's or the 912's. Any further info, experience with either of these tyres from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Regards.....
  7. Hi folks. Car geometry being done at CLCM in Edinburgh this afternoon and I'm going to need a new set of tyres, AGAIN!!!!! I'm looking for everyones recommendations. Currently have Toyo's on the car which are a great tyre but just don't last very long so I'm looking for a tyre thats going to give me good wear rates. Whats everyones thoughts on the Falken tyres?? Which is the better, the FK452 or the ZE 912?? All thoughts and opinions welcome. Looking forward to reading everyones replies...
  8. Thanks for that Russell. That's interesting about the manufacturer update...
  9. Hi Ormi I'm going to book the car in to CLCM next week!!! Sorry if you think my last post was ignoring you and looking for something else. It certainly wasn't meant that way. I'm just curious to know where else everyone uses. I've read up a bit about Willie at CLCM and he would appear to know how to set up the cars according to the WIM settings so I'll be heading there hopefully next week...
  10. Thanks for that Ormi, I'm going to check them out next week. Anyone else out there with any recommendations for somewhere reliable to get geometry settings done in or around Glasgow area??? Thanks in advance...
  11. The website is saying the place is called Seafield Services in Leith, Edinburgh. Has anyone had previous experience with these guys setting their cars up to the WIM settings and know what they are like?? All opinions more than welcome... Thanks...
  12. Hi folks... Does anyone out there know of anywhere that I can get my IS200se geometry set-up, to the WIM settings, in or around the Glasgow area?? I've been using a guy for the past few years and I've had the car back at him twice and on both occasions he has told me that he has dialled the car in to the WIM settings but once again I'm needing another set of tyres due to excessive tyre wear!!! I'm looking to try somewhere else and if any one out there can recommend, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance folks and I look forward to reading your replies. Thanks again...
  13. Hi folks I'm looking for some help with regards to a cracked sunroof that I have?? How easy is it to remove the glass only so I can replace it?? I have heard that it is a very easy process that only involves the removal of 4 bolts (2 either side) that are underneath the two black plastic side garnish covers. Is this indeed the case?? I hopefully don't need to remove any of the headlining as the sunroof operates perfectly (slides and tilts without any snagging) and it is just the glass that needs removing and replacing as it has a great big crack in it. Thanks in advance for all assistance and opinions with regards to this matter. Thanks folks.....
  14. Hi guys I'm looking to purchase a diagnostic code reader and was wondering which one other members would recommend?? It would have to be one for various cars other than the Lexus and I'm not really wanting to spend much more than a hundred pounds on one. There are loads out there and loads on E-Bay so I'm looking for one that someone in the club has either used before or are currently using and that they find is good value for money. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to reading your replies Thanks folks.....
  15. How do I go about resetting the ECU???
  16. Hi there Can anyone help me with a problem I'm having with my IS200se?? I think that my throttle control motor is on the bling and in need of replacement and I'm thinking it will be easier and probably cheaper to just replace the throttle body but there are a couple of things I need to know first. These are:- Is there any difference between the throttle body of the Sport or SE models?? Is there any difference between the throttle body of the automatic and manual gearbox models?? Thanks in advance for anyones help or suggestions in this matter. Cheers...
  17. Hi folks I'm having to buy a new radiator for my 2000 plate manual gearbox IS200. I have found a guy on E-Bay selling a radiator that he says will fit both the manual and automatic type cars. I asked him to confirm that this will fit the manual as I was under the illusion that the automatic had an additional pair of outlet pipes that are at the bottom of the radiator that are used to feed the oil cooler on the automatic. He confirmed that the radiator was indeed for an automatic but will also fit the manual and with regards to the two pipes to just ignore them and it will fit OK. Now what I want to know is is this correct?? I was thinking that the outlet pipes would have to be blanked off at least or are they blanked to begin with?? Has anyone out there fitted an automatic type radiator to their manual car and have they had any problems?? Thanks in advance for any help you folks can give me...
  18. So am I right in saying I need the following to do the high beam, main beam and foglight:- High Beam:- HB3 bulbs, ballasts, 6000k bulbs (to pass MOT's safely) and all wiring. Main Beam:- HB4 bulbs, ballasts, 4000k bulbs (to pass MOT's safely) and all wiring. Fog Light:- HB4 bulbs, ballasts, 6000k bulbs (to pass MOT's safely) ans all wiring. If anyone feels this is incorrect please feel free to advise me. I would rather have bulbs that are going to pass MOT's without having to go through the process of changing for MOT time. Thanks in advance folks....
  19. Hi there Thinking about doing a HID headlamp conversion to my 2000 IS200se and I would like to know exactly what it is that I need to buy?? I have had a look at the website www.hids4u.co.uk and was wondering if anyone has followed this website and installed a set from them?? What I want to know is do I need a to buy 2 sets?? One for dipped headlight and one for main beam?? Also, what size bulb is best for when it comes to MOT time as I can't be bothered with the hassle of changing things for MOT and then changing them back. Thanks in advance for all replies.....
  20. Was thinking about going down that road myself with the Bridgestones but read too many reports on here about how good the Toyo's are, so decided to go that way. The deciding factor for me was the price. Just ordered 4 Toyo's from Camskill for £282.80 and hopefully they'll be as good as eveyone on here says they are. Fingers crossed!!!!! As for the Bridgestones being designed for the car, I've read on various other places that the tyres that ANY car comes with as standard are put on the cars because a MASSIVE discount is given from the tyre companies for doing that, therefore hoping the customer will continue to use the same tyres when it comes for them being replaced!!! Don't know how much truth there is in that though!!! Anyway thanks to WIM for explaining the tyre abreviation problems I had. Is there no end to your talents????
  21. Thinking about changing the tyres on my IS200se to Toyo T1-R tyres and have found something I'm not too sure about whilst shopping around for the best prices. Can anyone explain the differnce?? 1) On Toyo's main website, the size and information is as follows:- 215/45ZR17 91W RF 626 211 292 843 7.0 - 8.0 What I want to know is what does the RF stand for?? 2) On Black Circles website, the tyre information is as follows:- Toyo Proxes T1-R 215/45 R17 W (91), Reinforced What I want to know is what does the reinforced imply and is this what the RF is written about on Toyo's website?? 3) On Camskill's website, the tyre information is as follows:- 215/45R17 91W XL TL TOYO T1R What I want to know is what does the XL and TL stand for and are these tyres different form those mentioned on Toyo's website and Black Circles website or they all the same?? Sorry there are a few questions but if anyone can help me out that would be great. Thanx folks...
  22. Have you had any luck Killer with Kenneth Brown or have you found anywhere else that may help out dialing in the revised geometry settings in or around the Glasgow area?? Does anyone else out there know of anywhere where they can do the proper adjustments in or around the Glasgow area??
  23. Forgot to mention he prepares rally cars and various other cars for motorsports so he should be able to alter the geometry to what we are looking for.
  24. Try giving Kenneth Brown Engineering a call. He is based in Hillington and I have used him before for getting wheel alignment done on various cars. I too am suffering from excessive front inside tyre wear (AGAIN!!!!!) and am going to be in touch with him over the next couple of weeks to see if he can dial the car in to the settings that are used down at WIM. I have already contacted WIM and have a copy of the full revised geometry settings that everyone says make a difference. It is just a case of getting in touch with Kenneth Brown to see if he can apply these new settings to the Lexus. His details are as follows:- Kenneth Brown Motor Engineering Ltd 36 Hepburn Road Block 108 Unit 7 Hillington Ind Est G52 4RT Tel:- 0141 882 6757 E-mail:- kbm.engineering@virgin.net Let me know how you get on and if he can set the car up to the revised settings or if you find out someone else who is willing to apply the revised geometry settings in or around the Glasgow area. If you contact WIM they can mail out the revised settings to you. Hope this helps.....
  25. Are there any further developments with regards to the tyre issue??
