  1. I bought the Nextbase 412 from Halfords for my GS 250 back in February and had it hard wired in by them, I think in total it was about £130 - £140 or so. The camera is fairly simple to use and I like the app downloaded to my phone so I can put the images onto that. Picture quality is excellent day or night. Hard wiring was worth spending the extra cash, as I really don't like having wires hanging around, Halfords surprisingly did a first class job. The camera is magnetic so can be removed for security really easily, it also came with a storage wallet so no worries about it getting damaged. My only gripe with it, is that after a few minutes sitting in a traffic jam (which is of course quite often) it turns itself off and I have to give it a wallop to get it started again. I have put the settings to the maximum but it still does it. Overall very pleased with the camera, not had any need to us "it in anger" as yet but its nice for peace of mind.
  2. Sorry if this has been posted before, I just saw this article with Lexus taking four of the top ten spots for reliability in the 2016 results - Well done Lexus! http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/recommended/most-reliable-cars?utm_source=Outbrain&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=OBBestpages2016&utm_term=2120033
  3. I paid £499 for three years paint and wheel damage cover from Lexus back in April when I bought my GS. I did this based on the fact I park every day in a public car park and my last few cars were bashed constantly by other careless owners, and I do have a nasty habit of whacking kerbs!!. So far Murphy's law has applied and neither have happened so I cant comment on how any claim goes. With an expensive motor I think it is worth it for peace of mind though.

  5. Hi James, Have never owned the IS but bought the GS250 F Sport a couple of months ago. So far I love it, not sure about the Luxury but the engine note on the F is wonderful which leads to a lot of heavy right foot driving. Despite this I am averaging 27 - 28 miles to the gallon and most of my commute is stop start Town driving, I am quite happy with that, my previous car a 2.0 Mondeo Titanium X Sport only achieved around 24 - 25. The performance under normal driving is acceptable, certainly not as quick as my Mondeo but I don't do traffic light Grand Prix's anymore so not a concern, there is plenty of power to have some fun though and the cornering for a big car is great. The GS is a big brute but when you actually drive it, it sort of wraps around you and is very comfortable. The Sat Nav is excellent and I soon got used to the "Mouse" control, Bluetooth and phone connection is a doddle and very easy to use on the move. Like a lot of the reviews say, the road noise is a bit louder than I would like, certainly not as quiet as the Ford was. Overall am very happy with the car.
  6. Her name was Griselda, she had beige vinyl seats which roasted your rear end on a hot summers day. I did love her though
  7. Why is it I can remember every car I have ever owned in chronological order and yet I cant remember what I had for dinner last night !! Here we go Triumph 1300, MK3 Cortina GXL, Vauhall VX490, (What a rust bucket that was) Mk3 Cortina GT, Mk4 Cortina x 2, Rover 213, Sierra Sapphire, Cavalier, Celica, Escort van, Granada, Mondeo diesel (my one and only excursion into the devil's fuel, never again) Mondeo (with proper fuel) another Mondeo, SAAB 93. MGTF, Mercedes 350 SLK, Porsche Boxster S, Mondeo Titanium X Sport and now my new toy the Lexus. As you can see there has been a bit of brand loyalty going over the years with the blue badge boys, have to say though have never had a bad one. A quick pic below of my first true love complete with side pipes, louvered rear window, whiplash aerials, front and rear spoilers, ok it was the seventies and I was very young !!
  8. Thanks both, I may just choose to live in it for the first 24 hours ! The whole sale process took about 30 minutes - saw it loved it, drove it loved it more, only got 13,000 miles on the clock and looks like brand new. I have had Mercs, Porsche and loads of others but It's been years since I remember looking forward to picking one up so much !
  9. Thanks Venator I have a few dealer pics all I have to do now is work out how to post them ! Techy I am not - already have some thoughts on it
  10. Thanks for the welcome Mike I shall study away and try not to upset the locals too much, can't promise I won't ask stupid questions though I specialise in those !
