  1. Hi,

I recently had all my wheels off to do a brake check/lubing.  I jacked up on the sill and allowed each wheel to hang on the suspension one at a time to do this.

Since then I have an awful creaking over speed humps. I wonder, should I not have let the suspension hang for whatever reason? Is there a particular bush that may have been damaged? What might be a remedie?

    Thanks guys,

    Bod

  2. Hi, has anyone ever had the Cats removed on a GS?

It's quite a common thing in the Toyota MR2 Mk2 world. I have a Mk1 so not an issue for my MR2.

I'm just asking really because there are loads of threads on here about Cat problems and costs to replace. I've had the EML on on my Mk2 GS for a while now with bank 2 Cat 2 working below efficiency code showing on the reader. I've put 2 bottles of Cataclean through it but it makes no difference, the light always comes back on after deletion. This also makes no difference to the car that I can tell. She just runs great all the time.

    Anyway, Cat deletion or not?

    Cheers,

    Bod

  3. Sorry to Graham for hijacking his thread. I've helped myself a bit here instead of relying on my friends on here.

I looked at the link and I found I have a Gen 1 satnav. On the menu it says 08-09ver1west.

I wasn't able to remove the disc to find the number as the DVD unit is fixed in place and right up against the framework of the boot. I need to find the number though for this page of the order process.

  4. Ah ok John, which sensor should I be looking for. Here's the history.

When I bought the car back in August, the CEL was on and my code reader showed 1 fault that being Bank 2 Sensor 1 oxygen sensor heating element not working.

Like a numpty, I left it until now to change the sensor. I plugged the reader in to confirm I was changing the correct one, only to find I had two codes. I changed the sensor and cleared the codes and started up and the CEL stayed off. Then after 10 miles today the CEL came on again with code P0430.

  5. Sounds similar to what old diesels used to do. When you leave it for a while the fuel used to run back toward the tank. You start the engine and it would use the fuel in the injectors then run all lumpy as the air ran through the injectors then as the fuel came up it would be fine.

However, on a modern petrol it could be loosing fuel pressure in the common rail thus giving a misfire code on all cylinders.

It may be nothing like this, I just thought I would give you another angle to look at it from.

  6. A new good quality SS system are between £800 and £1000. I'm really not sure it's a good idea on a car that is 14 years old and that I only paid £1000 for back in August. The cheap SS systems are between £300 and £400 but they come with all sorts of horror stories of broken welds and fatigue fractures etc after only a few hundred miles.

I've been in contact with the seller on eBay and asked him what his previous buyers have done about gaskets and he's been brilliant in contacting them and asking what they did. He has now come back with a car parts website and part numbers for the gaskets etc.

I love people like him that will go the extra mile to help a customer and close a sale.

  7. Does anyone know if the exhaust bore size is the same on a Mk2 GS300 and Mk3 GS300. My issue is that I have found a seller on eBay that sell the three parts of the exhaust separately  for my Mk2 that I need but weirdly he doesn't sell fitting kits.

Then there's another guy in Germany that sells the whole lot as a kit including a fitting kit but it's for a Mk3. He will sell the fitting kit separately but I'm not sure it will fit. Hence the question on bore size.

    Thanks for any advice.
