I have just bought from e-bay an assembly with lamps off a 2005/9 GS 300 which appear to be LED's wired directly into the lamps. These are not an exact match but for £20 I will see if I can compromise. However I have just noticed that they are rated as .85w whereas the fuse is .75. I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks for your interest. I have looked on the USA Lexus Owners club where the have been similar issues. I managed to extract the lamps and I can see that there are no external connectors but there is a length of wires sufficient to allow for a connection if I could obtain lamps with wires attached. It would however be better to make any connections inside the boot. I attach some photos to display

Hi Steve, Thank you for your reply. I have just looked at the one on E bay and by the rear lamp cluster housing it seems to be an earlier car. Mine was at Wigan Auto Electrics last week who tell me that the lamps are sealed unit LED's with no connectors. They tell my that if I aquired a complete assembly they could fit entirely which would mean removal of the rear bumper or they could cut the lead and form a connection which would not require the bumper to be removed. The complete assembly is available from Lexus Parts [81270-24041] at £133 odd. I am intrigued as to how you could fix and would be happy to travel to Derbyshire. Cheers Dave.

My LED lamps have both failed, wiring checked and power to the lamps is fine. Apparently lamps cannot be replaced individually, complete assembly needed [part number 81270-24041] priced aT £133. Does anyone know of such a model being dismantled. Thanks for looking, Dave F.

My recently aquired [private sale] 2005 facelift has two fairly major issues: 1. power steering rack has oil/fluid on boot cover so suspect end-seal leak, seals not separately available so looking for a replacement rack. Part no.44200-24190 Does anyone know of any model which shares this part no. or any replacement other than the ones on e-BAY. 2. Excessive judder on braking at speed of 40mph plus. All suspension secure without excess play new pads and discs when bought. judder is inconsistent in that sometimes seems from rear i.e. through whole car and then from front i.e through steering. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I am travelling a great distance on Friday to look at a 2005 facelift and would welcome any buyting advice. I have seen in the past on this forum specific buying advice for this car but cannot trace it now. Any advice welcome. I would add that the car has just had a service so condition of the oil will not disclose anything. New MOT with hardly an advisory. Many thanks.

My ignorance! Having owned my 2009 RX 450 for 3 years and having only once had difficulty emerging from mud IN REVERSE on Thursday last having been released from "lockdown" for angling I went to one of my favourite trout fisheries and reversed up a fairly slight incline on very dry grass to park. I was amazed at the noise made obviously from the motors and not the engine. I managed to park and thought no more about it, I was going fishing after all! On getting home, I googled the issue and found that my suspicions were correct. The engine does not reverse, there is no reverse gear in CVT. I have lived with this ignorantly for 3 years but will be more aware in future and mention it in case others need to know. Good to be back.

Hi, I am sorry if I failed to respond to Ian M's and royoftherovers's question, forgive me I am new to the Club. My car had done 125000 miles with virtually a full Lexus service history. It is interesting that Lexus's quote for replacing Ian's water pump was only £395 whereas my cost was based on 11 hours labour. I also note that his is a 2012 model against my 2009. I asume that a major modification took place. I was assured by the Aftersales Manager that that was the time allowed and I spoke to the technician who did the job who confirmed to me that that was how long it took. I had also checked with other dealerships and an independent Lexus engineer. Lexus Bolton were very helpful in their hourly rate and also by applying what is known as Mechanical Loss Avoidance [MLA] which is a scheme within Lexus designed to reduce running costs for older vehicles. It is ironic that royoftherovers suggests taking the case to the County Court as that, together with the Crown Court, is where I spent my working life. Hard as it is to accept, where there is a disclaimer available to the warranty company in respect of "wear" [and tear] and the cause of the problem was a "worn" bearing I did not feel that I would have had success in any claim to the court.

Hi, Although yours is an old item from January '17 can you advise as to how you got on with Lexus Edinburgh as I this has happened to me on a couple of occasions. When it has happened it has been very short, no more than a second or two and I have not noticed a warning light. I am not aware as to whether these instances from a few months ago will be in any ECU memory. I have an extended warranty and would be glad to know how you got on before I go to a dealership. Hi, My 2009 Rx 450 developed a "top of the engine noise" in November 2018. I took the car into Lexus Bolton who quickly diagnosed a worn bearing in the water pump and strongly recomended that the car should not be driven. Accepting this and relying on the extended warranty I instructed them to fit a new pump. Lexus time allowed 11 hours! [apparently it is a suspension removal job to access the pump]. The warranty claim was rejected. Lexus Bolton were brilliant in that they supported me throughout in my claim. My argument with the warranty company was that had I not been diligent in spotting the engine noise a seized bearing could have led to overheating and damage to the engine. Their reply was that had the cause of an overheated engine been diagnosed to a worn bearing any more substantial claim would also fail. Beware the most important words in that policy document are "wear and tear"
