  1. I'll be posting some pics John after the weekend for you all to see. I'm really looking forward to collecting my lovely new lexus on Friday. from all the positive things about the 250 I've read on the forum I know I've made the right choice. I'll be giving the car a good run over the weekend as I'm driving up to snowdonia for a weekend hiking holiday .
  2. Thanks for the advice John. The car has 5 lexus service stamps in the book and was last serviced around 300 miles ago back in September . I may indeed take it to lexus bristol for a check over or wait until the major at 30000 miles.
  3. Mikeyv I had same problem with my is220d . chucking out lots of smoke on my way to and from work and I found it really embarrassing so took it into lexus bristol who identified the 5th injector to be the problem. After some reprogramming of the ecu it corrected the problem. I don't want to bash the diesel but even the guys at lexus admitted it was the worst car ever produced by lexus and the majority of their repair work is carried out on the is220d .
  4. It's a 2011 f sport model john. It's low milage with just 1 former keeper. It's from a local car dealership near my home town of hereford so will be getting the standard 3 month warranty and part exchanging my is220d . I'll post some pics for you all to see over the weekend 😄
  5. These cars seem to be ultra reliable from what I've read on the forum unlike the diesel version . Really looking forward to collecting my new 250 this Friday. this cars a keeper. 😀
  6. Thanks for the replys guys. My weekly fuel bill is only £20-£25 per week so filling up with super is probably only going to cost me a couple of extra pounds each week and worth it if it keeps the engine cleaner. Only 3 days to go before I get my lovely new is250. it's a 2011 model with only 23000 on the clock.
  7. Hi guys I'm due to collect my new is250 this Friday as decided the diesel is not best suited to me as don't do enough milage to justify keeping it and from what I've read on the forum it very problematic . Yes I know I should have done my research beforehand . As regards to the is250 will the car benefit from more mpg. cleaner engine and better response using fuels such as shell nitro and bp ultimate or will regular unleaded be fine?
  8. Hi ahmedali44 mine dosnt have ml but the guys at lexus bristol told me it's the same system as fitted to the 250 se-I models . Will post pic when get chance.
  9. Not sure if this helps but the guys at lexus bristol told me it's the same sat nav system as fitted into the is250 se-I 2009 -2011 models .
  10. My 2009 is220d se-l with sat nav allows me to enter the full postcode. I'm loving my sat nav but then again it's the first car I've ever owned with built in sat nav.
  11. Just to let you guys know I took my car to lexus bristol yesterday. cylinder head gasket all fine. as mentioned by a member here my problem was the 5th injector along with a heavily clogged egr valve whatever that is. Anyways it's running much better now and I think I can learn to live with the car and the dashboard crack hehe. Just want to say a massive thank you to the amazing guys at lexus bristol for your work and great advice and thanks to all you guys here for your help.
  12. OK guys I'd like to thank you for your replys. much appreciated . I've had a good look around the forum and it looks like many owners are having issues with the same car. In fact I've not seen a single good word said about it. seems obvious to me that if I keep this car I'm going to run into a variety of problems so I've decided to cut my losses and get rid. I do like the lexus is though and unlike bmw and mercedes they are quite rare to see on the roads. That's what made me opt for the lexus in the first place. It's something different . I will look into the is250 as from what I read here on the forum everybody has nothing but praise for it. I will keep you guys informed .
  13. Private sale and basically told me it's not his problem and to take it to a garage.
  14. Pcm yes I did contact the seller and he told me the car had no problems at all when he sold it me and I've got no chance of getting my money back.
  15. Hi I wondered if you guys could help me. 3 week ago I bought a lexus is220d. it's a lovely looking car in really good condition inside and out . It's in black and a 09 registration . However I've noticed a few problems and I'd appreciate some help and advice . First of all the car when warming up seems to produce an awful amount of grey smoke from the exhaust and it continues until the car is warm then stops. I'm sure this can't be normal . I'm also hearing a loud crack from the dashboard again when the car is warming up. Also the car dosnt produce any power at low revs and then all of a sudden I get a big surge in power. I finding it dangerous when joining moving traffic at roundabouts and junctions when I'm in second gear. The gearbox don't seem right either as I get a clunk when changing from first into second. Very often the car jumps into neutral especially when in second or third gear. To be honest I'm very disappointed with this car. I wasn't expecting these problems with a prestige car like a lexus and I wish I hadn't have bought it now. Any help or advice would be appreciated . Rebecca Hadley.
