  1. Going to book it in next week for an egr clean and possibly an inlet manifold clean and inlet ports clean if needed, I'm hoping this will improve things to at least a more drivable level. Remap will be a last resort if cleaning does not cure the problem.
  2. Cost me £995 - Regarding the clutch release bearing they told me to live with it a couple of months and then have it replaced under warranty.......
  3. I'm a bit too old for spannering I'm afraid but the local independant garages rates are the standard £45 per hour so not too extortionate, considering the miles I do I'm hoping a check once per year will sort it.
  4. Car has been inspected by Lexus today prior to Lexus extended warranty been granted - no real issues and extended warranty issued! Also asked them to check the ecu firmware to see if it's the latest and it was so happy about that, also the inspection that they have done finding no faults is a bonus, only small things mentioned were the battery tray needs replacing as not securing the battery securely and the clutch release bearing could do with replacing (release bearing covered under warranty). All in all quite pleased with today's outcome!
  5. Car has been inspected by Lexus Teesside today prior to Lexus extended warranty been granted - no real issues and extended warranty issued! Regarding the low power issue between 1200 and 1800 rpm they are suggesting that the egr and possibly the manifold will need cleaning to eradicate the problems I'm having. 6. Is it a common occurrence for the slider pins to seize and need freeing and lubricating? All four of my calipers needed work on them to free of the slider pins recently, will this happen again and if so is their any way of preventing it happening in the first place?
  7. This is pretty much what I thought, the cause of the issue has to be addressed which brings me to the question "What exactly is the problem" is it the gearbox ratios or something else?
  8. Power between 1200 & 1700 rpm is abysmal, I have looked into this problem a great deal and have found something that can allegedly fix it - Sprint Booster by Boulekos Dynamic. Will this kit do what it says it will do and transform the car at low rev's? Has anybody fitted it? I would welcome your feedback. What about issues with insurance companies and Lexus regarding modifications i.e. extended warranty etc?
  9. Car is booked in for Wednesday for inspection prior to me taking the extended warranty, I was at the Lexus garage yesterday and they confirmed DMF, release bearing covered but clutch plates are not which I can understand. I was also told that the EGR is covered but surprisingly not the DPF. After inspection etc. they will wash and valet the car free of charge!
  10. I got the Lexus dealer to send me the brochure and the warrenty is quite extensive, I was told dpf not covered.
  11. Decided it's time to buy the Lexus extended warranty before the car is 10 years old, I've been quoted £995 for two years cover inc RAC roadside assistance. Apart from having to service the car at the Lexus stealership is their any other terms and conditions or get outs that I should be aware of? Like is wear and tear covered within reason etc. And are parts like DPF and EGR covered?
  12. To be fair when I rang yesterday I spoke to the dealer receptionist, today I spoke to the Service department.
  13. Phoned the Lexus dealership again this morning and they confirmed it is covered when pushed about the 140,000 limit, they are sending me a booklet out to read, looks like this will be the way to go. Interestingly my Lexus is 10 years old on the 30th April and if the extended warranty is taken before then it will be covered until it is nearly 12 years old or 140,000 miles.
  14. Just phoned local Lexus garage and they tell me that extended warranty is not available to me because the car has done in excess of 100,000 miles - work that one out!
  15. As I understand it was for two years, Lexus warranty is probably the way to go for overall peace of mind I think.
  16. EGR is easily cleaned, DPF is a different story. I was quoted about £450. Does the Lexus extended warranty cover the DPF and EGR?
  17. I spoke to one of their agents a few days ago and was told:- DPF not covered, which was a disappointment. Because my car has more than 100,000 miles you can upgrade the cover (increased premium) and they payout upto the value of the car. Good point about the labour rate - I will look into that for sure. I will also look into the Lexus warranty the next time I'm at the dealership.
  18. I have been looking at warranty Direct which covers mechanical failure and also wear and tear after 90 days, it covers the all important head gasket and also the dual mass flywheel and after 90 days wear and tear items as well - cost is about £400 for two years. As I already have breakdown cover from my insurance provider surely warranty Direct is a better option, what are your thoughts on this Shahpor?
  19. Would my car qualify for extended warranty and if so how much would it cost?
  20. How long can it be left like this? I suppose once I decide to have it done then the clutch plates should be changed as well and hopefully the DMF is ok and does not need changing.........
  21. New observation regarding rattling noise, when engine is cold no rattle can be heard no matter if clutch pedal is depressed or not - noise can only be heard when the engine has warmed up, ie clutch released and idling at traffic lights rattle can be heard, press the clutch pedal and rattle disappears. Clutch is working normally and gear changes are smooth. Anybody got any additional thoughts regarding this?
  22. No problem regarding hijacking the thread - the more input the better!
  23. I am interested in your story and would like to know more - I'm impressed with the IS220d but I know every car has it's short comings and I'm prepared to put up and work around them............
  24. It pulls away smoothly without any juddering from a standstill. it's due a service so will have the egr valve cleaned - I plan on having it done annually whilst the car is in my ownership. I agree regarding 6th gear and as you say using 5th more will help to clean the DPF. Thanks for your useful input for a IS220d newbie!
  25. I know the sale of goods act and I'm not inferring anything was hidden, I just want information as a new owner to help me move forward in the right direction!
