I haven't spoken to them but im taking car back tomorrow and getting the centre manager out to see if that's the standard he expects.
You're going to do that?

@rich1068 - I disagree, your local insurance broker is merely middle man between yourself and the same big company. In UK there are few underwriters, the rest are just brands of brokers selling same insurance and charging you commission for it. The conditions are decided by underwriter and just passed on you by the broker... so what is your gain by going local? You still obliged by the same rules, just need to pay extra for brokerage service?
You just disagreed with something I didn't say and ignored what I did. But hey, carry on. You're obviously on a roll.

A fool and his money etc.

As this has turned into a general thread about motor insurance I really do urge people to consider their local insurance broker rather than the big insurance companies. You may be pleasantly surprised. Even if the premium isn't the cheapest around the level of service will be far superior to that offered by the big names. It's particularly nice to have a person answer the phone who knows who you are rather than "we're experiencing a particularly high number of calls right now" which is big company speak for "this business is permanently understaffed so we can offer a higher return to our shareholders".

Good stuff.

Very nice and welcome
Could be the photo but if those headlight lenses are clouding I can recommend the Autoglym headlight restoration kit.

If Lexus know and the insurers of the loan car know I'd leave it at that.

Thank you both and yes, chuffed is an understatement. There's the odd stone chip and the wheels could do with a refurb but that's about it, the car is a credit to the previous owner.

This one taken with my phone rather than my camera shows the flake a little better.

Well I did threaten pics and after spending a few hours with Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo and Conditioner, Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection here they are. Very pleased with the results though I can't take a picture to save my life. The metallic flake pop is amazing in the flesh though I don't think the pictures do it justice. I've chucked in a couple of interior shots to show how well the previous owner kept this car.
Stop already!

Wise man!
Spent a few hours on it today. Look at that flake pop!
(Actually the pictures don't do it justice...)

So today I spent a very productive day armed with Autoglym's finest.

I've got an extra button on mine - Snow. It reduces the throttle response and in the snow it.... doesn't help at all🤤
Ah yes, this was mentioned in another thread. I wasn't aware but button placement seems to depend on auto or manual, IS200 or IS300? My PWR and SNOW buttons are down by the gear lever.

Plenty of life left in them-must be the Yorkshire man in me...
Nothing wrong with that. But then I'm from Yorkshire I'll check the pollen filter in mine...

I have a 9 year old, a 6 year old and a 4 year old at home. I find cleaning the car quite therapeutic.
And coincidentally I intend to do just that tomorrow.

Put some elbow grease into it!! Try polishing and waxing a Volvo XC90 by hand that hurts a tad. LOL
I do about a panel a month on ours.

Spot the difference
Thanks to J Henderson for the tip.

Top job. Thank you.

Am I going to have to explain what a cassette is to you guys? Like when I had to explain to my 9 and 6 year old what phone boxes were?

Yes, that's the factory layout but a common mod is to swap the positions of the TRC button with the R/H heated seat button. Like so..
Just push the switches out from behind, disconnect the cable and re-fit them in the new location.
Great stuff. Might have a go at that. Is the panel fairly easy to remove?

There's me assuming they're all autos!

Owned my IS200 for a week now and loving it although it does like a bit of a drinky drinky!
Quick question, could someone tell me if the TRC/SNOW buttons should light up with the rest of the buttons when the lights are on? Mine don't.
Thanks.

Looking into it a bit more, this spare is listed on ebay:
I'm pretty sure the small circular bit is a bulb holder. Might be worth trying to (carefully!) prise it out. If it works out, I might try mine...

You could pull it out and trade positions with the r/h heated seat switch so it's in the middle for a nice symmetrical look.
I was away last week when I read this and I got a bit confused. Still am. This is the button layout in mine...
PWR and SNOW buttons to the left of the gear lever and buttons for the heated seats and TRC OFF in front. Are they in different positions on yours? I understand what J Henderson is saying about symmetry but the TRC and SNOW buttons are quite separate??

First little niggle.
I do like cassettes and thought I'd try the cassette player in my factory 13906 headunit but after playing for maybe 10 seconds it ejects. I can push it back in, the mechanism takes the cassette, clicks and whirs for a bit, plays 10 seconds again and then ejects again. Any thoughts? I've a feeling that it's a very long time since the cassette player was used, if ever. Think one of those old skool cleaning cassettes would do anything? If it would stay loaded?
And I'm fully aware the majority of you will wonder why I'm bothering but as I said, I just like cassettes. I also need the player to be working when I get delivery of this. I also have a bit of a soft spot for MD too but that's another story and another eBay purchase

Certainly not. And usually at this point of new car ownership I toy with the idea of a K&N, remind myself that it will make absolutely no difference whatsoever and then buy one anyway. A few days after I'll mention the car is a little more responsive, revs a little easier or some other guff. Just ignore me if I do.
Today? Fitted a K&N. Jury's still out on whether it's made any difference but the car does seem a little more responsive, maybe revving a little easier.

I'm keeping a close eye on mine. The car's been garaged all its life so far but I know they're a weak point on any "older" car.
Oh and congrats on the MOT
Does Your Is200 Have A Rattle, Knocking Suspension?
in Brakes & Suspension

Mine (only had it 3 weeks) has a knocking/creaking/groaning from what seems to be nsf but only low speed and only when braking. It's back to the dealer Tuesday. But I guess that's not the same circumstances as yours ie when braking and turning/maneuvering?
