<thread from the dead>
I'm going to look into this tomorrow. That occasional bit of dead air on the throttle when pulling away from a junction is getting annoying.
-
In all seriousness, about this time of year I do make sure I have a decent de-icer (Halfords in a trigger spray, not the aerosol muck) and keep the screenwash topped up. Other than that not much else unless I'm planning a journey then it's the Kendal Mint Cake, dragon glass, warm coat, sprouts etc.
However, the other car on the fleet is a 2014 XC90 and winter or all season tyres are a wonderful thing on the odd occasions the white stuff comes down. Unfortunately these days we do have this ridiculous marketing spread of winter, summer and all season tyres. Most cars come with what seem to be classed as summer tyres due to our current obsession with large alloys, ridiculously low profile tyres and the ability to do the Nurburgring in less than 10 minutes even though most of the time we're doing 5mph on the way to or from work. For the last few family wagons I've run the factory fit tyres until it's justified to get rid and fitted winters or all seasons and run them year round. Sounding a bit Wurther's Original but it's how tyres used to be

Apart from the OP cleaning out his wife's pollen filters and putting a copy of Viz in the boot, I don't think people are taking this thread as seriously as they should.

Nice to hear of your purchase, what age and mileage is she? Haha yeh sometimes its nice to sit back and watch what people do with cars this is the beauty of the project section. Im still a member on loads of different forums for different make cars and always enjoy reading build threads
A 2002 and just turned 54k. Proper one careful lady owner stuff. And very much enjoying the 2JZ in it's more subdued form...

I'm new to the whole Lexus thing too. Picked up my low mileage IS300 a few weeks ago. So I'll be watching this thread. Not that I plan on doing anything remotely similar to my old girl but so I can shake my head and say "You crazy kids..." a lot.

Hi Dean. Sorry, should have been clearer. I'm looking at an MD autochanger and the guy reckons it's from an IS. I know there's a CD autochanger in the head unit and from what I've read there's a connection on the back for another. I wondered if the wiring might already be there or whether the car needed ripping to pieces to install it.
-
I do like the look of that exhaust. And then I went on their website and read
Quote...with the added benefit of reduced noise levels making it the best choice for more mature enthusiasts.
...which sort of sold it for me.

Would anyone happen to know if the IS is one of those cars that has the boot mounted autochanger wiring already in place or whether it's a complete PITA to fit? I know it's a long time ago but...

The car needed a clean and I've been wanting to try the Meguiars Wash And Wax Anywhere waterless cleaning stuff. Really, really impressed and also handy to use inside when it's raining. As happened half way through
So all the exterior cleaned including wheels and not a drop of water used. Smells nice too. Then the interior got a vac.
Then I drove home and it's loppy again.

Totally sympathise with the driver of the white car. Discovery's are such ickle tiny things, barely noticeable.

As a recent owner I had no idea about "Lexus Chap". Threads like this are handy. When I ran BMWs the UK forum had a sticky about a dealer somewhere or other that was notorious for cheap dodgy cars. The thread ran to pages and pages and through liberal use of keywords and regular updating it was always top of the page if anyone Googled the dealer's name. Very good

Hi Normski,
It happens unfortunately. It did for me with a '13 F30 BMW 330d M Sport. Lovely car, all the bells and whistles, hugely expensive, went like the clappers, looked absolutely fantastic, could absolutely take it or leave it. So it went back and it cost me a fortune.
The other side of this is that some cars you don't expect anything from totally take you by surprise. I bought an '03 Volvo V70 2.4 Waft-o-Matic that the guy selling described as "a good 10 yard car" and loved it so much I bought another one. Absolutely battered, well over 100k miles and just drove it at every opportunity.
Just one of those things.

Probably vain, but I have wondered about buying a cheap dateless number plate, - think it would give it a more classic look (??), ...2004 isn't new - and it isn't old, if you see what I mean..
Not vain and I know what you mean. There was nothing wrong with the 52 plate on my IS but now one of our own plates is on I think it looks much better.

I'd love to see those!
Funny you should mention the drop in filters but the air filter in my IS300 sits vertically (you probably know this) and after getting hot a few times oil off the filter did pool in the bottom of the box. Due to the position it would have never made it to the MAF and after wiping up it never came back but worth mentioning.
-
It's an internet forum thing. If anyone ever mentions oiled filters then someone else has to say they're bad for your MAF. It's the law.

Ah, manual. Got you. Cheers.

You should definitely check out Tapeheads!

Seen it, done it. Listened to the latest Partridge book (apt I know) that I'd <ahem> acquired from some site or other and the chapters were all over the place. He made even less sense than he normally does.

A little forethought while driving i.e. anticipating what other drivers and pedestrians may do is all that's needed.
Agreed. I'm no saint and there have been times when I've shouted and gestured then felt deeply ashamed of my behaviour. Yes there are idiots out there but there are also visitors in unfamiliar surroundings, people who just don't drive much and inexperienced road users like we all were at some point either on foot, on a bike or in a car.
But yes, more videos Batley Bandit

So I assume you're "Batley dashcam Man"? I don't have sound on my office PC, I hope you're not ranting too?
Must get myself one of these...
-
If you don't mind me popping over from the first gen IS section you'll see that I'm keen on cassettes too. And I fully intend to get it fixed! I've also just spent 23 whole English pounds on this so I can indulge in MDs as well as cassettes I blame tapeheads.net
Anyway, last cassette played? Gentlemen Take Polaroids by Japan.

Don't use too much mind and be careful where you put it or you'll get a smear on the glass every time you put the window back up.
