  1. Hi guys, I am looking to buy a lexus IS200 I just wanted to know the service intervals? The car I am buying has 60K odd miles on it and was last serviced at around 54k. The next service will be due shortly but I am just wondering if the next service due is the major service? If so what exactly happens in that service and how much does it cost? The car is a 2000 Model. I know the cambelt on the IS200 should be changed evey 100,000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first. As it has only done 60 K do u still recommend me not taking any chances and get the cambelt changed? The car has the SE spec with an auto gearbox. Has full service history. In your opinion what is it worth? i.e. how much should I be offering?
  2. Hi, There is a GS300 LPG converted available for around 2,900. It has done 155k. I have a few questions. Is that mileage too high? How much do these cars normally do if well maintained? Is the price good? How much should I offer the guy? And when and how often should the cambelt be changed? Thanks for your help in advance.
  3. Its been repaired and looks in good condition. Just needed some advice on what to look out for and whether its worth the risk? Secondly, apologies for ignorance on the matter but what kind of Cambelts do the IS200 have? Do they have the chain cambelt or the normal ones? I assume the normal ones which require changing. If so then how often do they need to get changed? Thanks for your help in advance.
  4. lol! Well I guess it does make u an expert if you survive the first few months of driving a rwd. In my case i had bad luck! Ill ask the dealer and see what he says!
  5. would anyone be interested in buying it off me for 7500?
  6. After the experience i had with my previous manual one i actually think thats an advantage!
  7. Here are some pictures: comes with 3 months warranty too.
  8. RS200, Automatic, 1998 S-reg, Dark Grey in colour, 45,431 miles on the clock. In very good condition. And all the rest extra's How much would the car be worth? Its ready for the road with 6 months road tax.
  9. Unfortunately, They no longer carry out jap import auctions!
  10. Nope! I bought it from an auction in the uk. They put their auction charges and all in all i probably paid around £5,800. The rest of the money i spent was to get it prepared for the sva test.
  11. oh my *** so the prices havent even come down a bit in over a year! I bought mine for £5,700 in an auction. And it was an RS200 and it was manual!!!! It needed an sva and that was a real pain!
  12. Can someone give me a rough idea of what the prices are like now? I am talking about an Altezza ready to be on the road in uk!
  13. Well thats what i regret! Thats the mistake I made really. According to the insurers chosen repair evaluators the damage repair would cost £8,500. At the time I wasnt even sure whether they would accept my claim. There were so many complications. When they did I was just so massively relieved that I didnt want anything else! Come to think of it now I could have bought the salvage off them and it would have been worth it!
  14. And luckily i didnt come out of the accident completely unhurt. Not even a scratch. Probably because when i lost control I was only doing 30 - 40 mph max!
  15. Hmmm! To be honest for some time I was really angry with tezza's! I blamed it for the accident even though I knew there was diesel spillage. It was just strange the way I lost control. It has never happened before. I could have understood it if I was going around a bend or slightly turning and totally lost control. But I was going bang straight! But then i realised It wasnt the car's fault. On top of the diesel spillage it was also raining! Now im beginning to miss the car! Still have the pictures lol! Anyway, I wish I could buy a tezza but not sure if I can afford it at the moment. I definately dont want to go through the hassle of getting it past the sva test e.t.c. I would like to buy a tezza which has already passed the sva and is ready to be on the road! Anyone know how much I could get one for? considering Im on a really tight budget! Wouldnt necessarily mind having the AS200 instead of the RS version! At least you weren't hurt ..... and it's excellent they paid out, again - ^ that is the reason why. Are you going to buy another Lex/Tezza ? :) ←
  16. Thanks for the info on the japanese sat nav system. Good thing I didnt spend a fortune trying to get it fit into my car. Anyway, Some of you might remember me from last year when i had bought an Altezza and I was constantly here for help on how to get it prepared for the sva test. But it was never to be I am afraid! Just when I had got most of the problems sorted I crashed the car! Basically I was joining the M4 from a slip road and was accelerating to join it when I suddenly lost all control of the car. It went in circles a couple of times and half of it ended up on the barrier with the face pointing in the opposite direction. It was a terrible experience. Had to call the police who called a rescue company to get the car out. When I looked at the car I couldnt see much damage apart from the exhaust hanging. And a couple of scratches on the bumper. I just couldnt understand why the car lost control even though i was accelerating in a straight line. After some time one of the police officers pointed out to me that there was some diesel spillage on the road and that was probably what caused the accident. Later on after a long time [mainly due to problems caused by the fact the car didnt even have a registration number as it hadnt yet passed its sva] my insurance company informed me the car was a total write loss! It had £8,500 worth of damage! Luckily the insurance company paid out £7,500! I think I was really lucky that they paid that much! The reason they did pay out was because at the time I was taking the car to an SVA preperation centre for a pre arranged appointment. I still miss that tezza! although i barely drove it and had a nightmare experience with it!
  17. This is just terrible man! Please tell me there is something that can be done other than chucking the whole thing in the bin!
  18. The reason I ask is not because I will bother getting the coversion done but I am wondering that if this guy is telling the truth and it did work in his car then it might been already converted? Is there a way i can tell if thats the case? And what about the LCD screen ? Is that useless as well? or can i use it with a uk tv fm tuner?
  19. So there is no way of converting the sat nav? Cause apparently according to this guy who sold it to me it was working for him on his car in uk? I need to know this so that i can have a chat about this with him. Secondly, If as you say all of the stuff is useless would the antenna be of any use? And would the lcd display work if i get a uk tv fm tuner? or are all of these useless too?
  20. So I was right in assuming carrozzeria was a japanese brand version of pioneer. Its just strange that you dont find any markings in japanese at all! So the question now is does anyone know how I can fit the whole system? And whether the sat nav would work or not?
  21. Actually guys I think I should let you know I assumed it was a jap sat nav system. The reason being that when i did a search on google for carrozzeria it brought up a lot of japanese web sites! Plus i assumed carrozzeria was japanese brand. Looking at all of the units now I have noticed that none of the gps units or tv fm tuners have anything on it written in japanese. The only thing that does have some stuff written in japanese on it is the lcd screen which seems to be seperate from the whole unit. When the stuff was sold to me, it wasnt sold as a japanese sat nav system. I guess I just made a silly assumption! Anyway now back to the stuff itself here is a complete break down of what I have: 1- 2 [1 of them is spare] x Carrozzeria Pioneer Satellite Cruising System AVIC G2 [Display processor unit] 2- 2 [1 of them is spare] x Carrozzeria Pioneer Satellite Cruising System AVIC G2 [GPS reciever] 3- 2 [1 perhaps spare] x Carrozzeria Pioneer Satellite Cruising System AVIC - 1 antenna. 4- 2 [1 perhaps spare] x Carrozzeria Pioneer TV/FM/AM tuner GEX-T90. 5- 1 x carrozzeria Pioneer CD player + 6 disc cd changer CDX M40. 6- 1 x Panasonic LCD TR-7LC1. 7- Remote control 8- Panasonic diversity unit. 9- 2 x tv antenna's. 10- All the wiring. Thats it! Phew! Im not that bothered about getting the Sat nav working although it would be great if I can get that working. However Id be happy by atleast being able to get the tv stuff connected and working plus the cd changer connected properly and working. Here are some pictures: Lastly, I dont want to spend a fortune on fitting the stuff. Most of the wiring is already connected. I cannot see it taking too long to fit the whole system. Any help will be appreciated.
  22. with a gps core using, satellite cruising system, tv/fm tuner, cd changer e.t.c. However I have no idea of how they are all connected. And because its japanese system i cant get hold of the wiring diagram either. Does anyone have any experience in fitting sat nav systems? This system came off an existing car and i bought it off ebay so i assume it had all the conversions done. Its just a matter of connecting it up correctly. If you know how to connect sat nav's then any help and information will be greatly appreciated.
