  1. Not sure. Here are the new changes: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/629/629/7293011.stm Not sure of how much discount LPG Is200 will get though. I know at the moment people are getting something like £15 off a year. Which is not a lot really. Its pathetic.
  2. There is a thread devoted to this on an LPG forum. I dont want to post links incase it breaks any rules. But from what I remember if your car is post 2001 then you send your v5 to the DVLA with the LPG certificate (I think) and they update the log book to state that the car is dual fuel.
  3. You have a point. I am not sure myself. However recently (month ago) my car passed its MOT and looking at the emissions test it states "Fuel Type : LPG". So I assume the co2 emission result is checked when the car is running on LPG. Maybe the Testing Station I took it to made a mistake and they should have carried out the emissions test by running the car on petrol. I am not sure.
  4. I have. Trust me when I say it is worth every penny. Right now I have a VW Passat Syncro (4WD) 2.8 V6 which is LPG converted (was converted by previous owner). I had a problem with the car and it was off the road for almost a month. In between I drove a 2.5 V6 TDI Passat, 1.4 Polo, 1.8 Peugeout 406, 1.8 Vectra and believe me when I say this that I really appreciated and realised how much more economical my Passat is than all of those cars. Yes even more economical than the 1.4 Polo. I have already worked out that the £1600 I spend on conversion is something I will save in the first year. The other thing you have got to remember is that when you do the conversion not all the money you spend on the conversion is gone. A big chunk of it turns into assett and you can recover it once you sell the car. So in effect you are only spending 500-1000 on the conversion which you will easily save in the first year alone. Plus you will never fail an MOT over emissions and you will be harming the enviornment a lot less. :winky:
  5. Just a quick question, what does LPG mean? Liquified Petroleum Gas. :)
  6. If you have one for sale PM me with details. Max Budget is 5,500. If you have seen one around for sale please let me know. Have been looking for ages have found nothing. They seem to be very rare. Thanks for your help.
  7. dibsLPG any chance of you selling your car anytime soon? :) I prefer to buy a pre installed Is200 too but they are just so hard to find. I have only ever seen 2 advertised in about 3 years of searching. And they came around at the wrong time for me. :(
  8. did you get it converted yourself? Oh no! You are in Belgrade! I wanted to buy the car off you :(
  9. It seems to be very rare. I am wondering why? I am thinking of buying an IS200 and getting it LPG converted. Good idea?
  10. Hi Guys have been very interested in the above suggestion and can confirm Toyota/Lexus recommend like most other manufacturers cambelts are changed at 60k. Bellow I will show you why What you are looking at is a IS 200 sport that covered 103k miles. The tensioner assembly got weak and ran at a slight angle meaning the belt started to run of the bearings/cam rubbing against the cambelt cover, the belt is half the size it should be, this put additonal load on the water pump which needed changing. This particular car would have been lucky to make another 100 miles and 10 miles with heavy use. The suggestion that these cars can be left untill 100k before a belt change is simply crazy, we have changed loads and experience tells us they are just like every other toyota engine and need changing at 60k or 5 years. I hope that clears some things up and puts some evidence forward to make it more clear. James Thanks James. That was very helpful. I feel for the numerous lexus owners that are driving their lexus around thinking it will not need changing until 100k. Atlast now I can direct them to this thread to show them why it needs to be changed every 60k and not every 100K (as stated in the Warranty Service Book).
  11. I have lost count on the number of Lexus owners I have spoken to who all think the cambelt should be changed every 10 years or 100,000 miles because it says so in the warranty service book. I have seen it state it as that myself. Have Lexus released an official guidline statement to abrogate the earlier recommendation? Does anyone know where I can get hold of it from? Cause honestly I think most people out there in the big wide world are waiting till 100K or 10 years to change the cambelt.
  12. The guy just told me they will be using parts from ADL BLUE PRINT. There is a set on ebay for around £110 which includes the belt, tensioner and idler. If I get the stuff done by Lexus what brand parts will they be using? Can I trust ADL Blue Print parts?
  13. Got a quote of £190 for the cambelt (parts and labour) which is great (cheers JD). £240 for the 60k service. Do you guys know what exactly will be done in the 60k service?
  14. It really annoys me when people do this. Bunch of morons. The other day someone snapped one of my cars wiper off. I mean completely snapped the whole thing off. If I then go on a drive and its raining and I have an accident which could then kill someone would this idiot get thrown in prison for manslaughter? I feel like you mate, the whole frustrating part in all of this is not the loss of property but the fact you cant find out who did it because you really want to sort them out.
  15. Never ever p/x. Better off putting it on ebay with no reserve.
  16. Just been told by my local stealers they will charge £400 to change it. Can you tell me how much you got it done for? No way am I going to pay £400. I need to find someone in reading who will do it for a lot less.
  17. Ok now Im not sure :) Maybe the Angel Eyes. Yes go for the Angel Eyes. Now I understand the dilemma you have.
  18. Just phoned lexus and they said they recommend the timing belt is changed every 6 years or 100,000 miles whichever comes first. They said it will cost £400 to get the timing belts changed! Can you guys tell me how you spent on getting the timing belt changed?
  19. Great job mate. Ive got that Sony Sat Nav. Now all I need is to get the Lexus Sat Nav part and a Lexus IS200. :winky:
  20. He did mention the belts were checked at the last service and they said it was ok.
  21. Thanks for the reply. How much you reckon I should be offering the guy for the car?
