  1. altezza to lexus dealer who should be able to pin point the exact problem. But i was thinking would they have the equipment to check altezza's? how awkward are they to deal with when it comes to imports? Or do they pretty much know everything about the altezza's? In other words what should i do? should i take it to them or should i take it to some japanese specialist who would have the right equipment?
  2. ure right colin, cause this problem wasnt there b4 the converter was fitted. It only came up afterwards. I always had my doubts that the converter hadnt been fitted correctly cause it doesnt show the correct speed for starters!!
  3. Well ure right colin cause the speedo convertor aint doing its job anyway. Ill get it checked but could the power steering thing have anything to do with the code 39 problem? Cause the steering becomes very very stiff and when i turn it even makes that screeching noise power steering's make when u full lock them.
  4. i dunno if this is relevant but i have also noticed another thing. When im driving the steering e.t.c. works perfect but as soon as i slow down completely it becomes very stiff . At first i thought the car wasnt warm enough and hadnt been driven for ages but now i suspect its more than that.
  5. Colin, do you mean by that, that when u turn the ignition it takes atleast more than 1 sec for the car to turn on? Cause that is exactly what happens when i turn the ignition on. I was reading up on this VVT signal which is generally known as the G signal. And from what i read i got the impression that the speedo problems i was having has also got something to do with this. Click here and check it out.
  6. Colin ure the most useful person on planet earth! :D Thanks a lot guys for all your help. Anyway Colin, does this problem have any thing to do with the emission problems i have been having? In any case im glad its not a big problem and its only some wiring. But i hope it solves the emission problem!
  7. it is the right code but apparently its not a very common one and the company i took it to are gonna try to find out from japan what it means.
  8. does anyone know what problem this code corresponds to as it is not a very common problem. all i know is that the fault code is 39 but im not sure what that means. Does anyone know?
  9. Click here and check this product out. 2nd and 3rd from top. It allows u to control the air / fuel ratio. Do you reckon this would solve the emission problems? As CO is produced when there is a lack of oxygen and by controlling the level of oxygen i could control the CO emission right?
  10. ive tried optimax which is super unleaded right? ok i meant when u suddenly get that massive acceleration. Genrally ive heard its meant to be round 4000 rpm but mines a lot later than that its like 7000 or something. What could be the reason for that?
  11. no man, i didnt import it myself. I dont think there is any big problem with the car but just cannot find the right guy to take it to. Who would have the equipment and experience to know abt jap cars.
  12. hello, I did a lot of research and the cheapest by far i found was Osborne's. Adrian flux e.t.c were all way too expensive. I'd definately recommend u give them a call and get a quote.
  13. Ive heard its suppose to be at 4000 rpm but it doesnt kick in with my car until 5000 or 6000 rpm. I mean really late. Secondly, when i put my foot on the accelerator the engine sounds a bit unusual as if its knocking. Now im not sure about that as the car has a special exhaust on it and it could just be the way the exhaust sounds. But lets say for argument sake the engine is knocking then what might be the problem and why is it knocking?
  14. rhaines, how exactly do i short e1 and t1? first of all how do i know which ones e1 and t1? sorry but im a newbie in this department.
  15. mark, do you think lexus would have the equipment to do a diagnostic test?
  16. Well guys, I used this cataclean stuff in the hope of getting the emissions down. i gave the car a good run for a couple of weeks. And before i got the emissions tested today i covered roughly 200 miles. The car was hot really hot when it went on the test infact so hot the fan kept on coming on. The CO emissions was .70 so a fail. Before the cataclean and driving it it was 0.8. So not much of a difference. The guy who did the emissions test today said to me all the readings seem to be right like the lambda, cat, HC apart from the CO. He said normally when CO reading is out its due to the ecu unit. So he told me to take the car to toyota dealers or something and they'd be able to sort the ecu problem out. he didnt think it was anything major in terms of cost. So, what do you guys think? do you know anyone with the equipment to do diagnostic tests on altezza's?
  17. I was crusing on the dual carriageway today and there was this big cue of trafic ahead of me. I wondered why and it soon became clear it was because of a brand spanking new peugeot 206 GTI doing 40 mph. As soon as i overtook the guy he put his foot on the pedal and overtook me in the left lane. I took that as a challenge and i put a little bit of weight on the accelerator while still in 5th gear and within seconds i left the guy for dead! Altezza's are just awesome! They make it look so easy and theyre handling is amazing. i wonder what a suburu imprezza must be like!
  18. for an altezza from? and how much would they roughly cost?
  19. oli, 60 k is not high miles imo. And to be honest i wouldnt be too worried abt the lack of service history as imported cars rarely come with that and even if they do who knows if they're genuine? however you could use this point in bargaining and getting the cars price down. You can rest assure that who ever had the car b4 if he could afford to buy a lexus then surely they must have been able to afford getting it serviced. And from what i have heard they keep their cars in a lot better shape in japan than they do over here as there are certain laws in japan with regards to cars which are a lot stricter than what they are over here. So i wont worry abt those 2 things really especially if the car looks in good condition. However you should get the cambelt changed and get it serviced your self. And i would suggest you get a full inspection by someone you know or by the AA or RAC. Apart from that what happens is just your luck.
  20. Tell us you havn`t!! I promise i did no such thing! But i suspect the guy who was doing the sva preperation might have done something like that!
  21. would there be knocking when you drive the car?
  22. leaded fuel in a car that takes unleaded fuel? For e.g. what would happen if u put leaded fuel in an altezza?
