  1. Hi, My neighbour - a porsche fan - send me this picture. Seems to come from EVO magazine. Yours Ben
  2. Hi Doesn't £2,300 for a 2 year warranty sound incredibly expensive? They will break even when there is a 10% chance that you'll need £23,000 in repairs; a 5% chance that you'll need £46,000 in repairs; or a 50% chance that you'll need repairs totalling £4,600. I would estimate that the probability that these repairs are needed are much lower than the break even figures. But maybe I'm putting too much faith in the quality of their product. As it is, this sounds as if they don't have any trust in their cars. Ben
  3. Hi, I'm trying to set a new trend among LC500 owners. Easy to follow with a black LC500. But what with a yellow one?
  4. I'm not sure whether both back seats are useless. The one behind me definitely is. But my children (13 and 14) don't complain too much with one in the back and the front passenger seat put forward.
  5. This is from the Netherlands where the price in 2017 was € 165.595. One of those times to be happy to live in the UK.
  6. In Dutch it is called an auto-alarm. Some have to live up to their name.
  7. Hi, Just responding to the phrase "the convertible is better than". To some extent my definition of my "best" car depends on my mood. For relaxed driving over wide roads nothing beats the Rolls. For a summer blast over twisty roads I have a ferrari mondial T and a lotus esprit, For a purposeful open top drive I have a mercedes SL500. And then I have my LC500 in structural blue. To me it doesn't really win (but quite often it shares the no 1 spot) in any department except that I think it's the prettiest one. But most notably it fits all my moods. Is "omni-great" a word? PS. And the LC500 would be the car of choice If I would plan to talk to complete strangers at gas stations or supermarket car parks. No, any car park for that matter. Always men though.
  8. Wow, That's quite something. Last year I had a heart attack and was flown from my house to Leeds in a helicopter. They filmed me and it will be on some television program on the 9th this month. I had a stent within 90 minutes after onset of symptoms. So, I like helicopters. I expect another month or two before I can get comfortable in the Lexus. I'm happy to also own a RR Wraith in which I can get in quite easily (the doors open the other way) and which I can drive now that my pain medication has been decreased. It's not quite the same to drive as the Lexus though, it's for another state of mind. Ben
  9. Thanks, Haven't been able to drive it for three months now, broke my leg at three places in a motor cycle accident. Not my fault, am wondering whether I can claim some additional funds to compensate for the loss of the pleasure driving it. Ben
  10. Hi, Did any come to the UK. I know mine was one of 10, and one of 5 with the v8. Ben
  11. Hi As with the original LC 500 I can find advertisements showing a blue convertible with a bit of a white interior. And as with the original one this doesn't seem to be a version that you can order. I had to wait until the structural blue (limited edition) came available to order mine. But this never came in "sport plus" which I would have liked. Why do they advertise with a car in a colour that they don't sell? You'd guess they think it's pretty that way. For my open top needs I also own a ferrari mondial T where opening and cloning the the roof only takes about 10 minutes. Does get irritating once in a while. So I'll wait until a structural blue one comes available and then decide. Ben
  12. Hi You say "I would be interested to hear if many of the owners who got their cars when released are still owners.". I still have mine. Structrural blue. Fuel flap gave me a problem just before the first service. I mentioned it and it never happened again. My biggest irritation (better nightmare) has been getting some parking damage repaired and the utter uselessness of Lexus Leeds in this matter. I trust you"ll enjoy it. Ben
  13. Hi, While waiting for new tyres, I passed the BMW garage and saw a 2019 BMW 840i for sale for less than £55,000. Checking Autotrader I found that £20,000 discounts on the 8 series are not that unusual. Is it that if one can't win it on style and substance that one has to lower the price and are we seeing some price-competition here? And does this mean that Lexus will offer similar discounts on the LC500 not to loose too much business? And what do people think who bought a BMW 840i at the stickerprice? Ben https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201911214618228?maximum-badge-engine-size=3.0&postcode=yo611ra&sort=price-asc&model=8 SERIES&minimum-badge-engine-size=3.0&radius=1500&make=BMW&advertising-location=at_cars&fuel-type=Petrol&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&page=1 PS. Not that I'm promoting buying a BMW
  14. It's not the costs that worry me. I knew that "structural blue" was rediculously expensive when I found out that it was 14,000 pounds more than the standard version (when I bought it, it was unclear that it would have some of the sport plus features). It's the way my dealer and Lexus handle it.
  15. Hi Slightly more than two months ago I had some parking damage and I called Lexus Leeds to ask whether they could fix this. They told me they couldn't and referred me to their regular body shop. I called them, they too couldn't fix it as they didn't know how to get hold of the paint. I called Lexus again and they told me that they'd come back to me. They did and told me that they had found a friendly garage who was going to help me. This frendly garage was indeed very friendly and they started their search for the paint. It took them about 3 weeks to do this and told me that the paint would be about 1,250 pounds for half a litre and they thought they'd probabaly need about a litre. I transferred 2500. Apearantly the frndly dealer has found a company who can deliver the paint, but they need to ghet it from a company in The Netherlands who can make. Now, more than four weeks later no paint has arrived and I'm still waiting. I'm not as much disappointed with the friendly bodyshop who have taken it upon them to try to do this as I am with Lexus. Last Sunday I complained on the website of Lexus Leeds and told them that I was quite unsatisfied with their service as I think that when you buy a car from a dealer that they should be able to fix it or to deliver the parts that are needed to fix it. I was called on Monday by the after care manager and he would take it up with Lexus and that they would come back to me. The have not. I'm quite disappointed. For some reason or another I'm now starting to dislike the Lexus. I dislike the dealer and I dislke the whole brand. The suggestion of giving a good service is false. Maybe I should sell it after it's been fixed. Ben PS Bought a 2nd hand Rolls Royce Wraith at P&A Wood. I think their service is better.
  16. Yesterday I was in a traffic jam and it rained a bit. I opened my window a bit and I felt relaxed. Then the car asks me whether it wants to close the window for me. No, I just opened it. Then a few minutes later, its asks me again. NO, I opened it and I can close it when I want to. The button to do so is very close to my hand. You don't have to ask me. I don't need you to ask me. Now, the default answer is no; the message goes away quite quickly, but it does continue to pop up and starts to distract me. Yes, I say, I'm now talking to the car, I know there is some rain coming into the car. I can see this, I still want my window open, that is why I opened it. And when I feel like closing it, or when it gets too wet, I will clsoe it, so stop bothering me. Really, I can do this by myself and I don't want to be distracted. So, stop. That was when I started to wonder. Who, oh who, came up with this idea that we needed a car to ask us this. Who sits in a car, or in his design studio, and thinks I wish that my car would ask me to helkp me close my window? And I wonder: what were his other ideas? What were the ones that he/she came up with that Lexus thought that they were silly, a bit over the top?
  17. I would consider testdriving another LC500h and see whether it is something that you recognise in all LC500h's. If it is, I suppose your dealer can't do anything about it. If it isn't, you may make him aware of this and let him have another look at the problem.
  18. Dank gaat uit naar mijn zoon. Hij werkt voor GoPro.
  19. When he was 21 a lamp post crossed the street when he was driving my XJR. He came out without scractches, not the XJR. Lately, he took me out in his Clio 182. NO, I don't let him drive it.
  20. My son visited me from the Netherlands and made this video. There is a moment where the joy on my face shows how happy I still am with the Lexus. VID-20190718-WA0000.mp4
  21. According to this list, my next car shoud be a lamborghini. But... isn't the average depreciation that low (in % terms) because - on average - people don't drive them.
  22. Hi Have been working and traveling quite a bit lately. So, time for an outing. I think you can find me sleeping in my car. https://www.sportscarsinthepark.co.uk/ Ben
  23. I've done almost 10,000 miles now. A lot of them on the M1.
