  1. Morning, Just been out tinkering and it appears someone has damaged the tube at the end of the MAF housing, which looks to be one part with one half of the airbox. Might be daft asking but does anyone have a spare kicking around? Thanks, Scott
  2. I had a look after my last post and tried it out earlier and would you believe it worked haha also didn't realise you could up the speed by smaller increments than 5mph, didn't try that though, just read about it. Will try it next time I get on the right stretch of road!
  3. Looks to be behind the Lexus badge, realised when I took mine off during radiator swap. Didn't realise you could use the cruise like a traditional cruise control rather than adaptive either!
  4. haha yes i'm the same, i've not had a car serviced once at a main dealers, costs 2-3 times as much and i dont even think things get done half of the time (speaking of VW anyway after looking over a young lads golf gti at work after it had been in). The air and pollen filters were both awful on this car even though the last few services i know Karl has paid to have done at Lexus, whether they do actually get that dirty that quick i dont know. Even so there's been 7 trim clips sat in there that no one changing the filter has ever picked up 😂 Me and my friend did have this conversation whilst doing the radiator and did say that in the dealers defense we will always do a better job as we arent constrained by time. I'm sure Lexus book time is 2-2.5 hours and i think we spent 4 but did tidy up and sort out other little jobs, which dealers would have just left. It's one of those jobs if we did it again though we'd easy knock over an hour off that. A shame you're not closer as we did say now we've done mine we'd be happy to do others at reasonable cost! I did get a service plan quote from Lexus out of interest and it was £1150 for the next 2 services (full service and intermediate), parts for these 2 services from Lexus Parts Direct come to £340 so it's £800+ labour to change filters, oil, plugs and coolant, albeit oil/oil filter twice. It'll be going to a local specialists for the oil/ oil filter change with genuine parts from LPD next month, the rest of the intermediate service and more was done during rad install. (Which is a bit of a shame as Lexus have made it really easy to do the oil/ filter yourself too and we would have done it at the same time but with no stamp from a VAT registered garage future buyers wouldnt touch it ironically). Then the one after as it approaches 100k ill buy the full service kit and get the local specialists to do all that and all in i reckon it'll be 6-700 for the 2 services at an absolute max. I'm not even tight with money, which is why i'll never be rich 😂 but i'm not willing to waste it when there's 0 benefit.
  5. eBay classified ads are a no brainer when selling a car, £15 one off fee and reaches a massive audience. Auto trader is a big rip off in comparison. I bought mine a month ago but hadn't been advertised yet so there's even more changing hands than the ones available. I've watched them for a few years now and the good ones at a good price don't hang around long at all generally.
  6. Thanks and i dont know but i can ask him for you and get back. He had them flushed into the floor when he had his garage built, it's a really nice space to work in. My set up at home is much less posh but i can recommend these, just under £1k at Costco and relatively portable, gets the car 500mm in the air which is plenty for most things. I'd have been happy doing the radiator at home on them but was nice to have some company and not have to leave the old bmw out on the street etc. IMG_20190808_170825 by Scott Osborne, on Flickr IMG_20191218_124105 by Scott Osborne, on Flickr
  7. Oh and getting the condenser back onto the rad was a bit of a chew with the new foam, if you screw the 2 bottom bolts in by literally a thread you can slot it on and do the bolts up. I'd also recommend a second person, definitely made life easier but equally it's doable on your own!
  8. No problem, glad it's of some help! There's a video on YouTube that picks most of it up if you haven't seen it already? It does seem to miss off the parts about what exactly you undo to get the cross bar section off completely. We unclipped all the wiring/ bonnet latch etc off it to remove it completely, including the sensor for the variable cruise etc. Need to take the horns off for better access if doing this, it's all just methodical when you've got it Infront of you. I had some spare M12 x 1.5 wheel studs so screwed those into the lines to plug them. You'll spill a tiny bit of oil out the lines but the cooler doesn't really seem to contain more than a dribble, think we caught/ estimated around 40ml tops that we lost, if that. The new radiator comes with little rubber caps on the ends but they have a tiny hole in so we put 40ml into the cooler and used those caps with nitrile glove fingers over the top until the radiator was in place, then quickly fitted the lines. I don't really like clamping hoses but being honest these ones are nice and soft and wouldnt see an issue doing that either. It's genuinely quite straight forward though when it's in front of you, you'll be fine with it!
  9. Thanks and yes definitely feel more at peace when I'm driving it now, needed another litre of coolant today and all good (besides spilling a little bit!) Also did the cabin filter today as I got one in the service kit, really like how well thought out these cars are! Thanks, my mates set up is much better than mine haha I literally have a Halfords tool kit and other bits Ive picked up along the way but have built an old BMW with what I have. A Halfords toolkit is a good place to start! Cheers, glad it's of some interest to some people. First time in a long time ive enjoyed doing a job on a regularly used in all weathers car!
  10. Well i've had the car nearly a month now and the radiator has been niggling away at me after seeing a few posts on this forum, i ordered the parts mid last month and they all showed up yesterday. Apparently there's been a spike in people ordering them! It's a relatively easy job, just a methodical approach and time is needed, of course tools etc too. A friend has a ramp in his garage which made getting under the car very easy, only needed to get the transmission cooler hoses and bottom rad hose off though, easily done on axle stands. IMG_20200904_170221 by Scott Osborne, on Flickr There was no need to take the wheels off but mine were on the wrong sides so swapped them over whilst in the air! Was interested to see they are labelled up which corner they should be on! Replaced in the past under warranty: IMG_20200904_175703 by Scott Osborne, on Flickr Funnily enough we noticed i was missing a few trim clips as we took apart what we needed to, turned out i had 7 of them sat in the airbox pre filter! I can only assume they've been there since the pump was done some 45k ago! Fans swapped over onto the new rad, we had to drill and tap out the rivnuts on this where the transmission cooler lines attach, now attached with stainless m6 bolts which you can just make out in the third picture. Lexus Parts Direct have been great for parts. All in for £310ish and a few hours, happy with that!
  11. I think i'd probably have more of your views if i had it as a weekend toy but i use mine as a daily driver (or near as dammit) and its great for that. The fact people think its a 'normal' car is one of the main reasons i wanted an ISF, like you say to some its a pro, others a con. I think some small changes to yours would have rid you of some of your cons, Michelin PS4S tyres for example, pretty much black hoops of magic 😂 The first proper hooligan drive out on undulating twisties i had in mine when i got it, i was expecting it to be like a bit barge-like as i have a very focused weekend car, i couldnt have been more surprised. Agree with the pedal settings though, i find myself driving around the issue in normal mode and just pressing my foot down more to compensate but i am considering one of those controllers to alter the modes, that might have got rid of that con. If its any consolation the adaptive cruise is no worse in this than my previous Golf R, which was 7-8 years newer. I tend to find myself operating it like i did with normal cruise on previous cars but it involves a lot of cancelling then resuming.
  12. It looks like the oil line connection onto the rad may have failed (they can corrode and snap off, reading into it) so the box may have ran dry. The other failures are the plastic end tanks opening up and chucking all the coolant out or the internal transmission cooler fracture where the coolant mixes with the oil.
  13. Haha yes he said he had had a little one a good few weeks back, funnily enough our son is due next month, luckily I have a very understanding missus (much like Karl by the sounds of things!) The baby seat has just been fitted so I can bring him home in it then it'll all get moved into the other halves Volvo! Currently the history is a mix of Lexus and Westfield Motors with one stamp from Quicksale Sports and Performance (where Silverwood get their cars taken care of) and I'm good friends with the guy who owns that so it will more than likely be maintained by them moving forward, starting off with an intermediate service/ radiator swap next month. I hope I can keep it at least as long as Karl and maintain it to the same standard!
  14. It sounds like mine has had the water pump done in the past so that is good news! Just ordered a radiator to do that and I'll feel a lot better about avoiding potential future issues! Thanks, appreciate it! I may sound a bit biased but old BMW's are just great, they just feel built and designed around driving for enjoyment. The 2002 is a real dream car of mine and ive gone a bit daft on the specification/ modifications as I've built it but it's a great escape when you go out for a drive in it and totally worth it! Thanks, yours looks a great example! I'm a bit out of love with modern vag/ BMW cars so the ISF is a much welcome change! Thanks and small world, thanks for reaching out! The showroom I got the car from sold it to Karl funnily enough and they tend to stock really nice examples. They also put me in touch with Karl, seems a great fella and I hope to keep the same regime going! I'm very OCD with oil temps as it is, it's not seen over 2k revs in my ownership until it's on 3 bars!
  15. Glad you got sorted! I think you've caused a spike in radiators being ordered! What was the issue in the end? Did the connection to the transmission cooler fail and drain your gearbox of fluid, rather than it fail internally and mix the oil/ coolant?
  16. Sorry for the thread bump but did Roose ever finish up these intake pipes do you know? I'd like a hps (or other) intake pipe and panel filter on mine but dont want to order from the states if i dont have to.
  17. It does look like that is what has happened to the OP doesn't it, total loss of fluid.
  18. Ordered my radiator and associated bits yesterday, got an email today saying there has been a spike in demand recently and delivery isn't likely until mid September, a bit of a shame as I was hoping to get it done asap.
  19. I know it's all opinion but I genuinely don't get the bad comments about the ride in an ISF, for me it was at least on par with what I would expect a performance saloon to ride like. I find it rides better than my Golf R that I had they they get good write ups on the whole. The ISF is stiff but I've had it on some bumpy B roads at speed and it damped successive bumps really well, my golfs suspension couldnt keep up on the same bumps and actually coil bound itself quite often. My missus commented on how well the car rode and said it's the comfiest car I've had in a long while. My car is on Michelin PS4S tyres, which came on the car but coincidentally tend to be my go to and these have improved the ride on other cars I've had (well at least the PS4 model) I'm in the North East or you'd have been more than welcome to a go! Scott
  20. Thanks, appreciate it! Im getting radiator anxiety on the ISF after the recent threads though! Also got the plate 'V88 KCL' with the car that i'll be removing if anyone fancies a V8 related plate for a decent price.
  21. I use a trusted local garage that tends to work on high end stuff and their labour rate is 45+vat, ends up being quite a large saving. My friend runs it so that ticks off the trust side of things. They look after everything from Doris' 15 year old fiesta to new Gt3rs's, it's quite amusing going in sometimes and seeing those parked up next to each other! I need to have a word with him about doing this work next time I see him. It's likely I'll buy the parts in from the web link above (thanks!), radiator, coolant and a couple of litres of transmission fluid to top it up and may as well get a oil service kit whilst it's up in the air.
  22. There's $130 postage and you have to pay tax on products+postage once it turns up. I buy quite a lot from the usa for my old BMW and basically whatever it costs in dollars for products and postage is what it ends up costing in £ when it turns up, it'll be £8-900 by the time its landed sadly.
  23. Yes like that but without having to spend £800 on parts 🤑 maybe the standard rad with an auxillary cooler may be possible looking at that. I think the larger rad is probably a good idea in the USA but dont think it gets anywhere near hot enough ooop norf! Love that GSF of yours by the way, definitely havent seen it out in the Pennines but hope to!
  24. Thanks, it's a Tii with the turbo arches on though (turbo models are basically collectors items and run to £110k+, crazy!), it does have more power than a turbo model without a turbo though!haha I'm surprised no one has come up with an auxillary cooler for the transmission and to blank off the ports on the radiator that the transmission oil lines run to. I'm sure its not quite that easy but you know!
