  1. A quick search hasn't brought up the results I was after, I'm wondering if all 98-00 400's came with xenon/hid bulbs as standard? Just wondering as I've been looking around and a set of projector lights has come up, bit worried that the oem bulbs will touch the inside of the projector if they were made for normal halogen bulbs! Thanks in advance Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  2. Also made a start on painting the old, rusty calipers on the back. Not got round to the front yet, there is some green metallic flake in there but unfortunately still images don't seem to capture it very well and I can't upload a video :( Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  3. After being on holiday I came back to find my wind deflectors had arrived ^.^ got them fitted and in the same day I returned home Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  4. It's not the nicest to do but Hey, people who do it day in day out would find it easier than me having a diy go at it lol. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  5. I don't think it makes it look cheap, but again opinions are different for everyone. And as someone who is younger I would be on side with your son lol. To be honest I prefer everyone not being able to pry in aswell. All that open glass makes me feel like I'm on display in a zoo [emoji23] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  6. I didn't No, I've heard the whole car is a hard job but it was done at a good price and I've no complaints so far. The tints are warranted until I sell the car aswell which is great :) Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  7. Finally got round to adding some tints to the car, it's dark but it's to my taste. A bit of privacy never hurt anyone[emoji23] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  8. So a bit of time has passed since my last post but it doesn't mean I haven't been busy! Found it difficult to source a ucf20 plain grille over here so decided to make one untill I can get hold of a proper one! Not an amazing job but definitely not bad for a first attempt and a home made job :) Got some more mods coming over the next few weeks so keep an eye on this thread [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  9. Digging deeper into the issue it seems that those wires I cut out appeared to be part of the tow hook connectors. But the pins had still been pulled out to accommodate the green and red wire seen in the pictures. Does anyone happen to know how the tow hook was fitted from factory as it's on the original invoice as an extra, but not sure how this explains the intermittent indicators purely on the rear. The last thing I do would before I take it to an auto elecs is replace the flasher unit, any other advice ? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  10. How has the car been since you fixed that pipe? Also if the 400s suspension fits the 430 does the 430 fit the 400 back? It sounds like it would but there's always the chance it doesn't. Does anyone happen to know ? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  11. Hi, thanks for your response, I was going to get the multimeter out but decided against it as I thought if they work sometimes it can't be to do with power reaching the bulbs. I will drop you a pm now as thay would be very helpful thank you Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  12. It wasn't me that wired them in lol they were from the original owner almost 20 years ago! Yes having found where it is I'm not looking forward to taking it out however if it means it's just one component that needs to be changed then it looks like I'm going to be upside down in my footwell again lol Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  13. Can give it a Try, what would doing that do different to remote locking ? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  14. Also it was just those two wires that were spliced into. They ran directly to the boot where the old units were. As the unit was defunct anyway I just cut the wires but it was only those two and a ground further down Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  15. So do those three wires run just the rear indicators? After a bit of research it seems a few 400's have suffered from faulty 'flasher relays'. Trying to pull out that relay to inspect for external damage has lead to me throwing my dummy out the pram as I just can't seem to remove it [emoji23] it's plugged in behind those three wires between the fuse box and the side of the vehicle frustratingly. Before taking it to an auto elec is there any other advice before I do So? I suppose I could rewire the rear indicators back in but I'd rather do the easier fix if possible Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  16. Did you make sure to torque the brake caliper bolts themselves ? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  17. So my 400 has a strange issue with the rear indicators. They work when using the lock and unlock buttons on the key but don't work when using the indicators or hazards. It's only the rear. The original owner had some super bright lights installed above the number plate ( some of you may remember the picture I posted) but since I removed them at the rear and cut their power the indicators have been off ever since. Today I was looking in the fuse box to try and see if it was anything easily fixed and found the wires where they were originally tapped into the circuit but I don't know what they were wired into, hopefully some of you may be able to help In the first picture it's the empty slot on the far right where they were plugged. It's a chunky three pin plug Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  18. I have also removed the old rear plate which was stuck on with god only knows What, it really didn't want to come off. With it off I can now see all the holes drilled for aftermarket things in the past and also holes to fit number plates, which have now very nicely rusted and starting to eat under the paint, so it's somewhere else that's going to need a makeover [emoji102] Can also see the led number plate lights in effect [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  19. So over the past few days I've still been tinkering here and there. I replaced all the interior lights with led's. Unfortunately my camera on my phone had a cracked lens so have took a more recent picture where you can see the difference, you can see the original old warm style bulbs. I heard about someone who replaced these with led ones and it blew some form of lighting ecu, but not heard about anyone having issues with led lights elsewhere. Can anyone advise on this? :) Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  20. I know the feeling [emoji23] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks guys it works fine I was just being too impatient [emoji23] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  22. Ah brill thanks guys will give it a go in a moment Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  23. Hi there, Just wondering if you guys have a Lexus club stand at japfest as I've gone for the past couple of years and would love to go again but be in a club stand as I was last year. I was with ccuk (celica club) last year and it was a great day out :) Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  24. Hi there. When I bought my 400 the previous owner had had two new keys made Up, they work in regards to unlocking and locking but the unlock boot button doesn't seem to do anything. I'm under the assumption just pressing the button on the key fob should pop the boot unlocked so I can then just pull it open, or have I got my wires crossed and it works in some other fashion? Thanks in advance Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  25. Thank you :) Whilst claybarring the car this week I've realised the rear bumper has been sprayed at some point (there are some very small runs) and also I feel ashamed it's took me some time to notice but the rear bumper and front bumper have been matched to the top half of the car. So my thoughts now may be to monochrome the whole car and go green all over. But then doing that I may aswell change the colour for the cost involved, so a bit stuck on choices now Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
