Sorry for long reply - mine is a 99 so mk4 I believe I've replaced the upper control arms and no luck yet!

Just about to order in the switch as my 1999 cuts out intermittently on long motorway journeys and it’s most annoying! @lurch did replacing fix yours permanently then? Been a few years! -
