  1. Thanks for the replys.

The problem is that it is difficult for me to get out to see the one in Birmingham due to work.

Regarding Sat Nav, I would actually rather buy a car without it. Simply because I don't think its worth it when you have to keep replacing the CD/DVD with updated map versions everything year. Apparently they cost £300 - £400 each!

For less then that I currently use my PDA with Tom Tom Naviagator 3, with a Fortuna Clip-on GPS unit that uses Xtarc 2 mode and I get the latest mapping, plus speedcamera warnings and the system can be moved from car to car or setup perimentalty.

    Anyway....I digress.

The car in Warrington is as follows:

I should hopefully get a chance to pop-in on Wednesday to have a look. From the pictures it looks pretty good.

  2. Hi Guys,

As some of you will be aware, I am on the lookout for an IS200 (preferably Sport)

I have come across this on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...2490431108&rd=1

2000/X Reg IS200 Sport, Sat Nav, 66,000 Miles, in Blue. £9500 BUY IT NOW

I did originally say that I wanted Black, but I have now widened my colour preference to Black, Green, or Blue.

The price seems very good for the milage, but I am concerned about the bad points the seller lists:

    i.e:

1.) the wheels are scuffed and pitted

2.) there are a few minor scratches

3.) there is a small hole in the rear bumper

4.) one of the light washers is broke

Are these points serious enough to make the car not worthwhile considering the price?

I know I can get the alloys refurbished, and hopefully cover up the minor scratches, but what really concerns me is the “small hole” in the bumper and the broken headlight washer.

How much approximately would I be looking at to get these repaired?

I won't really be able to get up to Birmingham to see the car until at least Saturday due to work.

I have emailed the seller asking to be provided with more pictures of the bad points discussed, but no reply so far.

Also I have seen a very similar car for £8295 ( X Reg, Blue, Sport, but no Sat Nav) with 89,000 miles on the clock.. One company owner from new. Full Main Dealer Service History. It is in Warrington so I should be able to pop down to have a look on Wednesday after work. The milage is a lot higher then I ideally want, but the savings allow me to spend money on a few nice mods (18” alloys for starters! :) )

How well do Lexus cars run when they get into high milages? How much more expensive is servicing, maintenace etc?

Thanks (sorry for going on a bit!)

  3. Thanks for the replys guys! :)

Yeah, I don't think this car is worth it afterall - I would not be able to check the car out before the auction ended due to work commitments.

I just thought that if it belonged to a member on here then I'd know it had been well looked after and cared for.

    On goes my search. :)

  4. Hi,

I was just wondering if this Altezza on eBay belonged to anyone on these forums. It looks fantastic in black with some massive looking alloys.

The BUY IT NOW price is £11,000. Is it worth it?

I was after an IS200, but this Altezza does look good.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...8&rd=1&tc=photo

Is the Altezza auto better then the IS200 auto? I have gathered that the IS200 auto is really underpowered at low rev ranges. I did ideally want an IS300, but cannot really afford it - so the Altezza seems a good bet.

    Thanks,

    Anees

  5. dharms12, You have a PM :)

Yes, its true Autotrader does seem to have a few good IS200s, some as cheap as £6500 :o !! but with milage at 130K+!

I want something with low milage so I can keep the car for a good few years.

I'd really like the Sport version and in black if possible. Platinum Ice is also a nice colour but does seem to be abit common - black just seems abit more exclusive! (Sorry if I offended anyone with a lovely Platinum Ice IS200, its still my second choice colour!! :))

I will keep on with my quest.

  6.:excl: I have suddenly come over all faint after hearing those prices!

Now that I have picked myself off the floor - I think that the car with the styling kit is probably worth it.

The car with the styling kit is a 2000/W in Black. It has standard 17" alloys however.

The car without the styling kit is a 2001/Y in Silver

Where their any major changes to the 2001 car over the 2000 one? I have read alot about changes with the stereo and such in later cars.

However, their must be similar looking bodykits available for a much reduced price?

I just want something subtle and stylish.

    Thanks.

PS If any members are interested in selling their IS200 Sport (preferably in Black) then please send me a PM. My maximum price is around £10K

  7. Hi,

I am going to be buying my first IS200 in the next month or so. :)

One thing I really like is the Styling Kit fitted on some models. I recently saw two IS200 Sports for sale. One for £10,500 with the Lexus Styling Kit fitted, the other for £9,995 without the styling kit, but lower milage and a year newer.

My question is how much more is a Lexus with a styling kit worth over one without?

If I bought one without the kit, what other body kits are available that look very similar to it?

    Thanks,

    Anees

  8. Thanks for the replies.

Steve that really looks AMAZING! :D

Me and my mate would definetly be interested!

    However:

Can the screen be a 7" Lilliput / Xenarc /CarTFT Touch Screen screen for carputer use?

Would it be possible for us to buy just the top tray bit? Don't really need the DVD and other funtionality since the carputer would be responsible for it.

    Is it easy to fit?

    Thanks,

    Anees

  9. Hi!

I am a new member of this great forum. I have been visiting regulary for almost two months and have picked up lots of great ideas and tips. I am planning to buy an IS200 in the next few weeks. I intend to put a carputer into my car when I get it (well - its SO COOL! :D )

    However.

A friend of mine has a 2000 IS200 Sport (No Sat Nav) and wants to do the same. So I thought I would help him and use the knowledge gained to help me when I come to do mine. I have been reading with great interest the "adventures" of Fargo and Brettster in their quests to have a carputer. Well Done to both!

My question is regarding the screen of the carputer.

I want to know if a 7" Lilliput or CarTFT/Xenarc screen can fit inside the JDM Dash Tray that is available on eBay?

I have the dimensions of several displays available here

    TFT Display sizes

Would someone who has a JDM dash tray be so kind as to measure how big the insides of the tray are? :)

Obviously a motorised solution wouild be perfect, but for now its fine if the screen can just be placed flat inside the tray and then closed

I don't mind if to use the carputer we have to open the dash tray and place the screen on its stand manually. Just concerned about thieves!

Alternatively - I have seen those DIN sized motorised screens - would they fit inside the tray?

    DIN Sized Flip-Out Screen

    Thanks,

    Anees
