  1. Also on this or another Lexus forum I saw information on a remote engine start adation for the standard remote, I would LOVE this for the winter but was wondering if it was available in the UK?

Remote starters are illegal in the UK,

Your not allowed to leave a vehicle with it's engine running unattended,

I was informed this by a local policeman after he opened the car door and removed my keys as I walked back to my car.

    There not illegal.

Plod just told you that to scare you. He probably didn't want to have to do the paperwork for your car when it was stolen, due to you leaving the keys in the ignition and the engine running.

wrong, check with your local Police, they always make a big of it during the winter when people leave the engines running the assist clearing ice and interior warm up etc.

  4. My car is only 2 years old and I rarely use the air con. I'll be peeved if I do need a re-fill.

To get the max benifit from any AC system it should used on a regular basis.

AC is not just for HOT WEATHER, you should also use your AC system in the winter when defrosting windscreen and side windows. Because your using dry air.

Please don't take this the wrong way, you are using the correct settings.

  5. Taken from BBC Website

A lawyer has claimed he suffered frostbite on his foot from the air-conditioning in his Jaguar XK8. Mike Ball said he had taken his shoe and sock off during a journey from London to his office in Manchester after suffering a mosquito bite.

After putting his foot next to the unit - on one of the hottest days of the year - he noticed his toe had started to turn blue.

Mr Ball, from Liverpool, said he then went to the doctor, who told him he had suffered mild frostbite.

On Tuesday the 46-year-old said: "I had removed my sock due to a mosquito bite on my toe.

"I drive an automatic and my foot was right next to the air conditioning. :iraqi-info-minister:

"The next day my foot was really painful and my second toe started to turn blue, [and that's when] I went to the doctor."

A spokesman for Jaguar said the company's air conditioning system does not go below 3C (37.4F).

"Frostbite most usually occurs at temperatures in the region of minus 30C (minus 22F), much cooler than the lowest temperatures possible with our air conditioning unit," he said.

"Under normal working conditions the units never produce temperatures below 3C, which is fine in the global market in which we operate."

This is the funnest thing I've read in ages,

Note to Mr Ball :iraqi-info-minister: :iraqi-info-minister:

If you want to know how to operate an AC system properly then drop me line. I suggest you give up your day job and become a JOKER.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

    :withstupid:

since when have we had mosquito in the UK and in Manchester of all places :lol::lol::lol:

  6. People, I need help in locating a rear seat base either complete assembly or just the cover,

I damaged mine last night, only the Escaine part of the material, Lexus will supply the full seat cover and not just the escaine section, if any body knows where I can locate this part from either a salvage yard erc I would be very grateful

Interior colour is Oakam, Material is Leather/Escaine.

    Many thanks in advance.

  7. Yeah - I want one of those Caddys for sure

Why buy a car with 16 cylinders and it only uses 4 of them,

Very old technology, cutting out cylinders, althought the way the presenter, presented the car you would have thought Cadillac were the first to think of it. Top Gear, Top Rubbish as usual :lol::lol:

  8. Maybe get round it like this ...

If regulations apply for type approval, IS300 as factory supplied will pass.

Styling kit is NOT factory fitted - it's added by Toyota GB in the UK.  So...

could be considered an aftermarket accessory ... Is it then still subject to red tape ?

If i remember correctly, the TTE (or 'styling kit') front bumper is available

with or without provision for headlamp washers.

The 'without' option was introduced because the edges of the holes

for the washers were being damaged by washer fluid or something.

    :iraqi-info-minister:

They can only use the 'After Market' Get out jail free card, if Lexus first sell the Car, i.e to Lexus GB (this would mean the car would have one registered owner) then the changes could be made, not sure what would happen at the first MOT though. This is not good practise that said. Lexus wouldn't be the first to do it.

I think this one will run and run.

  9. Not sure how Lexus UK are going to get away with this, as the Jap's are usally pretty hot on all the vehicle reg's

Could this be a possible re-call for all IS300's fitted with HID's and Styling kit front bumper.

or do Lexus have a little man that comes out of the headlights at the touch of a button to clean the headlights :D :D :D :D

  10. So, how do Lexus get away withn this.........?

    Are they,

Looking at all of the IS300 approved used cars. The photo's are not that great, none of them look like they have a head light washers fitted, could be wrong. As they may have some other method of cleaning the headlights.

I will double check when I get to work tomorrow.

  11. "Note “Please note that Xenon light can only be fitted by a professional car dealer. To comply with European legal requirements Xenon light can only be fitted to your car in combination with an “automatic leveling device” and a headlamp whindshield clearning system”. To find out more, please consult our FAQ section.”"

Spot on. Any car fitted HID head lamps must have headlight washer system.

This is required by law. :whistling:

Should be confirmed by the European Whole Vehicle Type Approval Directive............ :whistling:

  12. The climate reading isn't all that accurate when the car has been parked for while cos of radiant heat from the road etc, once your moving they are pretty accurate to maybe +-1 or 2 deg's.

For info mine read 27 Deg C when I keyed on tonight leaving work, once moving reading dropped to 25 Deg C

  13. One other thing, All the Limos you see on road, they are all 'Cut and Shut', they all start out life as base car, then cut in half and all the bits added and then joined back together.

    erm..... no....

Most limos are specially built in the factory using an extended version of the orginal chassis...

O no there not, next time you get the chance look underneath one, BTW I've repaired several over years,

The are all modified by 'Coach Builders'

  14. I agree totally mate.  I gave him the details of Lexus Hadleigh and was as helpful as possible.  I said that I would be happy to give him the paperwork if I had it, but I didn't.

You're correct, I don't want anything more to do with this.  My wife was none too impressed that they had just turned up on our doorstep.

Rather than ranting about all the Y's and where 4's, I suggest you talk to your insurance company as they were the one's who sold him the car, how else do you think he turned up on your door step, he has all the registration doc's for the car.

I used know a couple guys who brought insurance write off's. To look at them, they looked like they didn't have a pot to :tsktsk: in and they certainly were not the nicest people in world, walk in there workshop and it was like walking in other world, all the lastest equipment all brought and paid for and every job prefessionally done. Remeber never judge a person by there appearance are the way speak.

One other thing, All the Limos you see on road, they are all 'Cut and Shut', they all start out life as base car, then cut in half and all the bits added and then joined back together. Just because of few bad apples and there are some real :tsktsk:ing scum bags out there don't judge them all the same, he could just be guy trying to make a honest living, cos there is no law against repairing Write-Off's
