As has been said, I find it jus as quick to tap on the screen for most of the stuff I use.

I remember my 350z had a voice activated hands free system built in and it was horrendous. And what was worse was that the "woman" was very abrupt. I regularly used to swear at her.

I imported my Iphone 3GS address book in one go no problems in my IS.

I can't answer your question but you could do what I do... unlimited data SIM in my Iphone, then stream internet radio to it connecting either via an FM transitter or the Bluetooth streaming option that I do. Just a thought.

Hang on... my 2005 and 2007 GS300s both had capability to transfer contacts in one go - I'd imagine the system was the same in the IS surely?

Oh sorry, just realise you've asked what the differences are cosmetically and equipment...

Cosmetically, different alloys and no lip spoiler (I think) on the early Sport models. The first F-Sport and current F-Sport have different wheels too and the latter one has the front splitters. As for equipment, not really sure, I would imagine the F-Sport has a bit more just because it's newer.

The current F-Sport is also cleaner.

Difference in what way? styling, performance, equipment, insurance? Given the Sport was the earlier model, the differences will be fairly extensive I'd have thought - then of course, there have been two iterations of the F-Sport.

First time was 2010, second time was a 2011

First time was around the twists and turns of Loch Lomond. Have to say, I didn't notice the ride being harsh, although I understand Lexus did tweak the ride, so not sure what an earlt F would be like. I remember it being firm, but not uncomfortably so. Second time I drove it, the weather was monsoon like so wasn't able to drive it properly.

Seems like a win-win for both companies. You can't argue BMW's diesels are pretty good, and Toyota are world leaders in hybrid engines.

I was in a similar situation before I decided to go into the company car scheme - my budget for a self-purchase would have afforded me a 3 year old IS-F, which was so so tempting, but in the end, I had to look beyond the noise, and speed, and think logically. Having driven the IS-F a couple of times I can say that it is an absolutely blinding car - the noise is intoxicating, but... and it's a big but... (I'm sure the F owners will confirm) running costs are huge: Tyres, road tax, fuel, servicing, pads, etc, etc - and if it's over 3 years old, you'll be out of manufacturers warranty. Although granted, probably not required... but it's always peace of mind.

Probably best to sit down, work out your budget, then take both for a drive. They'll be chalk and cheese of course.

Loving the new car - totally different feel from the GS.

I'm missing the all-LED interior lights of my GS. They're less stark and felt warmer than the halogen door lamps of the IS. Have any of you IS owners replaced them with LEDs? If so, what bulbs would I need?

I totally disagree on your comments re quality - Having just evaluated all 3 of the IS's rivals I can categorically state that the fit and finish of the IS is far far superior to the others. But more importantly it's the attention to detail especially in the hidden areas.

I did briefly (very briefly) look at 3 series when I was on my company car hunt (along with a A4 and C Class). The C was the nicer of three Germans, but as soon as I got in the IS I knew where I'd rather spend my time (and company's money )

Doesn't matter how good or how well a 3 series go's... for me they lack that one thing I like in a car.... rarity.

The (not so) funny thing is, all of my Lexus' have been damaged/vandelised in some shape or form....

IS200 - Somebody well and truly scraped the back wheel arch and bumper (Indeed it was that incident that LED me to join LOC :) )

First GS300 - Same thing happened

Second GS300 - Someone very kindly scraped a 12" deep scrape into my bonnet - oh and it was rear-ended too
