  1. Thanks Colin, I suspect you are correct. The more I park there the better it's getting 👍.
  2. Good shout, however that location is not my ground 😒.
  3. Thanks Don, I'll check that mirror setting. After 5,500 miles I was being to hate the vibration under certain conditions from the YX 3 cyl. engine. I thought it might improve with miles and premium fuel but it didn't. So glad I read your post - loving the UX. What I am not liking is the digital speedo - and with the circular power status around it, it can be confusing. Getting used to it though. Interesting a tank full to tank full at the the pumps have shown 55 mpg true. Astounding! In these floods it has worked hard to push through and traction warning has come on a number of times. And I suspect the lower speeds in these poor weather conditions have contributed to the economy figures.
  4. I find the lights too low on my car (not Fsport).
  5. Hi Don, it's the side coverage - there is a high concrete step to be avoided and in these inclement dark nights I have given it to much clearance resulting in me being too close to a fence and needing a reshuffle.
  6. After one week of ownership and 600 miles how has it been so far? Very good is the unsurprising answer. I find the ride comfort very good even with the run-flat tyres and I have had noisier tyres. When time to change perhaps take Don C's advice to choose a quieter tyre. Clattered my head once or twice when the car found a pothole under the flooded roads due to Storm Babett. The auto retracting and raising of the steering wheel is great in theory but I still seem to catch my leg on the wheel on entering. The interior mirror I find too low and obscures at least half the depth of the screen and I find myself ducking my head to see under it sometimes. The usable fuel tank capacity could be greater given my weekly mileage - I really don't need to become such good friends with the local filling station. Of which I prefer to use Tesco Momentum but in my area they don't always have stock - which is annoying. Inverness was once referred to as Tesco town and is serving in excess of 100,000 people. Shouldn't be too hard to maintain stock. An unusual thing I have noticed is that when leaving in the morning the radio plays but then cuts out after a few seconds and shows no (DAB) signal - a few seconds later it reconnects but repeats what I heard a number of seconds earlier. Effectively the radio is a few seconds behind real time. Anyone else notice this. I do have Apple CarPlay active - is this the cause? The sound and feel of the door opening is on another level and a tribute to the engineer's attention to detail. Neat touch that the centre console can be opened by the passenger as well from the clever side hinge arrangement. Luggage compartment cover - wow. As for Lexus Edinburgh - exemplary.
  7. Now dark nights are here can the reverse lamps be uprated? It was a simple and effective job on my RAV4 PHEV but doesn't appear so on the UX250. Anyone done this? Thanks in advance.
  8. Doesn't say so in the brochure download - it states 750kg. You did mention the brochure.
  9. Also the brochure download lists the towing capacity as 750kg - no mention of requiring an Option Pack.
  10. Is it not illegal to disbar Independents from fitting towing equipment as much as they cannot disallow servicing by Independents?
  11. I thought it was obvious from my post. e.g. the premium plus pack states that you get 22 extras - but that includes 750kg towing capability - sorry, that is standard without any option packs. It also lists 4 interior trims - now forgive me but you only get one. So 18 extras not 22. I can still count even at my advanced age (or rather because of it).
  12. That's the Ying Yang of car ownership right there.
  13. Yes, £1950 over the 5 years - but well worth paying that for the savings made.
  14. Just a heads up if you are not aware. You get stiffed by the Government right away for the £590 vehicle tax as it is due on the second taxation - as the new owner it needs taxed now obviously. Still - the sooner it starts - the sooner it ends 😁.
  15. On the subject of Option Packs, Lexus are being a bit disingenuous - or they think their customers can't count. Every pack lists 750kg towing as an extra - nope, without an option pack it still has that capability. It's not as if they are fitting a towbar - now that would count as an extra. The premium Plus Pack lists 22 extras, so one off for the towing ability makes 21. But wait, 4 of the extras are trim variations so unless we are all getting four sets of trim (seats etc) that would remove another three. So that pack is really only 18. And every other pack loses one - the towing capability. Must have been a YTS chum who listed them 😂.
  16. I think the shortages are now a thing of the past. Just secured a pre-reg (delivery miles 10) UX250H with Premium Plus Pack for £35k (rrp for identical spec £41,580). Wouldn't have seen that coming 15 months ago. A no-brainer over the LBX - for £35k it would have been mid-spec and my Yaris Cross would have had a further 16k miles on it. Thanks Don C for that bit of clarity 👍
  17. Thanks Daniele - I'll have a look. See new thread - deals are back.................
  18. I understand your location now - many, many years ago visited the Micrarium. Believe it's gone now.
  19. Thanks Don - appreciate that. My PHEV was AWD but don't see any need for it now.
  20. Thanks for the info. Daniele 👍
  21. You're right Mick - the ones I have been looking at have 18" wheels.
  22. Very kind offer Don - might be able to do that. Do a triangle Wed - Friday (Muir of Ord, Inverness and Invergordon). My dearest wife is in the Community Hospital in Invergordon whilst we arrange a suitable nursing hoe (scarcer than hen's teeth and rocking horse doo-dah). Inverness is work those days.
  23. I currently have a Yaris Cross Excel and was tempted to look at the LBX. However, for similar money (£35k) I can get an UX250H pre.reg with 10 miles and a Premium Pack. I had a RAV4 PHEV but felt I didn't need such a large car anymore hence the change to the YX. Is there a spare wheel 'well' on the UX and does anyone know if the 18" space saver I removed from my RAV4 would fit? I must say that although I didn't need such a large car it seems that I still do want one 😂. I have a feeling that Don C may be in part responsible for looking at the UX 😁.
  24. In a previous life I was After-sales manager of the (then) largest Audi/VW group in Europe and we had a great team with a wealth of knowledge. A new accountant started with the company and he advised the owner to get rid of us all. His reasoning being that with our lengthy service and annual wage increments we were far more expensive than the average after-sales team. The owner asked him 'Can you repair an engine or a gearbox?' To which he replied 'No'. Neither can I said the owner - now shut up and get on with your job. The accountant lasted 9 months. 🙂
  25. Best to get all your ducks in a row first Malc. An expert examination and report that supports your case is pure Gold - however, it would have been helpful to bring it to the dealers attention straight away. Many franchises have substantial case studies (supplied by the manufacturer to their trained dealer staff) to refer to for paint issues - insects, impact, poor adhesion, contaminants and so on. It is hoped that the dealer inspected the paint using a qualified technician who is well versed in such matters. If so, a written report from them stating categorically why it doesn't come within warranty would be required. Then, it should be compared to an Independent inspection by your chosen expert. Should the cause be an external influence of any description (other than something that the paint finish would resist) then it would not be warrantable. In that instance it would be incumbent on the owner to prove that it happened prior to delivery - and that could be tricky. Escalating the issue with threats would seem counter-productive. I note Steve says it is either at work or in his garage - it has NEVER had a journey outside of this? At work is it parked near a railway as the metal filings from their brakes can cause damage. Regardless, I hope Steve achieves a favourable outcome.
