I had similar issues both with BG and with my energy supplier Shell Energy. BG did the survey quickly enough and said that the survey result would take three working days, they actually got back to me four weeks later to advise that I too needed an isolator. I contacted Shell Energy to request an isolator be fitter only to receive a reply a week later telling me that they have attractive EV charging tariffs (?). Obviously they hadn't even bothered reading the content of the email (they weren't accepting phone calls). Anyway Shell did eventually fit the isolator and BG did fit the wall box; they made a very neat job of it, even hiding the cable in the mortar. The only issue was that BG couldn't confirm the size of the fuse fitted and so assumed 60A. My advice would be to get your electricity supplier to confirm the fuse size when they come to fit the isolator. All I need now is a car to attach to it 🙂

BG told me once the isolator was fitted they give me a firm date. I pushed the DNO I've finally had the isolator fitted  last week at a cost of £231. BG said once it was fitted to send them a photo and they would arrange an installation date. So far I have had nothing back and they are not responding to emails and I have so far spent the last 30 minutes waiting on hold and finally gave up even though my call was "important to them" I'm not sure what else I can do to speed things up. I've got the car and currently charging from a 13amp socket.

With regards to the fuse, my DNO say they always fit 80 amp fuses as standard and that's what I have which is fine for the load.

  2. My DNO will fit my isolator this Friday with the cost being £231 + VAT. A rip off but I have no choice. When I mentioned BG charge £48 they said they were quite happy for BG to install it and they would come and connect it to their system. However they wanted £160 + VAT to connect so I thought it was easier for them to do the lot rather than coordinate two separate engineers. They will change the main fuse for free though which I suppose is a bonus.

  3. Hi everyone

I pick up my NX 450h+ Takumi on Thursday. I have been following the car on the app since I was notified it was at the dealers. Over the weekend it was stationary but showing the doors left unlocked during that time.

This morning there was movement and it moved from one part of the dealers to the other I presume to be cleaned and checked over. However when I check the cars journey it has now done 3 miles this morning. Checking the "driving analytics" it shows that it has had 4 hard brake and 5 hard accelerations. Is this a normal part of the PDI or should I be concerned? Looking at the analytics of my RX over the last couple of weeks there has been no notification of any hard braking or acceleration.

Anyone have any comments as to whether this is normal or someone having some fun?

DNOs tend to charge you for a DPI whereas most utility companies do them either free or a lot cheaper than £140.00.

BG basically did a “fire and rehire” on their engineers so a lot of the “good ones” left who were in turn replaced by fast tracked apprentices.

Those that did sign new contracts were then faced with a lower salary and longer working hours which I imagine significantly changed their work ethic.

They now appear to be struggling to keep pace with service demands but of course still spend millions on TV advertising for services they then fail to provide in a timely manner

BG told me they charge £48 to fit one if they supply the electricity otherwise they are not allowed to fit one. My electricity is supplied by EDF and on contacting them  they said they will not fit an isolator and I had to contact the DNO which is Western Power. My understanding is they= DNO charge around £200 which is considerably higher than BG. There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding in the industry with conflicting advice being given as to what is required. That is my experience anyway.

Well the fabulous British Gas show how inefficient they are again!

Today we were supposed to have had our virtual survey and when the time passed that it was booked for (booked & confirmed on 16th Feb) I gave them a call. The excuses the lady on the telephone came up with, on realising that they had messed up, were honestly unbelievable and the biggest insult to a human beings intelligence possible. I won’t bore you with what was said but she definitely needs some training on how to spin a yarn.

I then get told that she could reschedule for me during w/c 18th April since all appointments before that date are full. After I went totally ballistic she then decides that perhaps she had better consult someone else. 1 hour later an email arrives with a new date of Monday next week.

As you can tell from my opening statement, my experience with BG has not been good. For example, back in Nov’21, after we booked a boiler service for a date in Nov 8 weeks prior, we received an email the afternoon before the service was due to take place informing us that our appointment had been rescheduled for a date in Feb’22.

After calling them and again listening to all of their lame excuses I asked to speak to a manager who decided that they could do the boiler service on the planned date after all.

Apologies, rant over, but the above along with other events experienced with them are why BG will never be my choice of supplier for anything in the future

I had a survey on 28 February and I was told by the engineer that they would send me confirmation within 3 days. The engineer said mine was straightforward as I was having the charger in the garage next to the consumer unit. Having heard nothing I rang this morning ( and that was a faff getting through) only to be told they were waiting for me to get an isolator fitted by the DNO before they could fit it. First I heard about it. I then had to contact the DNO who said they couldn't fit one for at least a month and would have to do a survey first. So I agree BG are totally inefficient in not getting back to me.

The Bladescan headlight system on my RX450h is not as good as suggested. It doesn't operate until you're travelling over 40mph, and even then, the reaction is slow enough to result in getting the occasional flash back by the oncoming vehicle.

I don't use it at all.

I use it on mine but I do get flashed usually by vans and lorries but rarely by cars. Definitely needs improving

Ask your salesman to make the 5 minute call to dealer support at Lexus financial services, they will roll the finance deal back to the point of order (So long as the salesman has created a quote for you at that time)

There are processes in place with Lexus financial service to ensure this happens as it is in the best interest of the customer.

Interesting. When I asked my dealer to go back to 3.9% as per original quote instead of 4.9% he did so but the monthly payments went up slightly and the GFV dropped slightly.

I once bought a brand new British Leyland car which after 2 days developed a rattle on the offside front, another day later the front offside wheel fell off.

After coming to a grinding halt I noticed the rattle had then completely disappeared 😀

I had a brand new Austin 1300GT in I think 1973 which cost me £1100. Apart from rust which started appearing  after a few months the steering wheel came off in my hand whilst driving. Those were the days. I moved to Toyota in 1976 and have never had any many problems and nothing serious since then

Ordered an NX450h F Sport on Monday 31st following an extended test drive & after over 4 years of owning a RX450 F Sport.

The RX was the most comfortable car we’ve owned, eclipsing the previous RR Sport. Reason for change, wife drives it a lot and has always found the RX to be a bit of a barge around town and for parking.

Why the F Sport version? Well the majority of trips we make involve bendy country B roads and I found that the Adaptable Variable Suspension on the RX really does take out a lot of body roll when switched to Custom mode or Sport mode so I wanted to retain that feature.

Why the 450h? TBH it may be a mistake, only time will tell. 50% of our regular annual mileage should fall within the EV range with the other 50% usually being 200 miles+. My fear is that the longer trips will not manage the mpg figures of the 350h due to lugging around the extra weight🤔, but no doubt will be better than the RX (the RX has given us an average over 36,000miles of 35.6mpg).

We managed what I thought was a decent overall deal on the 450h with the dealer throwing in 3 years servicing, GAP insurance and extra £2k for our RX due to the earlier delivery date so with this, along with the free wall box that Lexus are offering, I decided to take the risk on the 450h. Only time will tell if it was the correct decision.

Following a call to Lexus by dealer, initially to confirm that the wall box offer would still apply to vehicles delivered after April, delivery was quoted as June but told “could be May could be July” (would have been Sept/Oct for the 350h)

But the "free" wall box is anything but free. I tried to sign up last week with the link from my dealer and was told that only the installation is free and the box will cost £585. Also cannot supply until April/May when the grant  will have ended. What is going on?

I ordered a NX450H+ mid September and was quoted first mid January delivery and demonstrator mid Dec, then mid Feb and a few days ago quoted 17th March delivery and demo available mid Feb.??? Starting to wonder if we can rely on anything? (First time Lexus buyer) is this typical of Lexus?

I ordered my 450H in September also and was told January delivery. Then as you February and I was told on Friday it could be April. As my PCP on my RX comes to an end in April I have a decision to make and I might keep the RX
