Was this Steven Eagle on Cambridge? If so I am not surprised by the lack of room for parking, their Ipswich branch is the same mainly due to them sharing the premises with the dealer’s Toyota dealership.

However, I cannot speak highly enough of the Steven Eagle Ipswich branch. I have always received excellent service from them, both in the buying experience and afterwards. It was they who told me that it was Lexus policy to replenish fuel used when having to return to them for warranty and recall work

But Lexus UK have just told me it is not their policy to replenish fuel for warranty and recall work. It must be dealer specific who decide what to do.

    Hi John

I would certainly contact Lexus UK for their take on this as I am pretty sure that the dealers who are replenishing fuel are passing this to them. I know that if you get a courtesy car the dealer bills Lexus UK.

    Hi Ken

I have received a response from Lexus UK to say that it is not their policy to reimburse fuel costs for a recall no matter how long the distance. So it is obviously dealer specific when it comes to paying fuel costs. Looks like I might need to find myself another dealer.

Had the LTA update done on Monday and reported the fuel filler flap issue. Needs a new fuel filler flap mechanism so booked in for January. Was given a petrol refill compliments of Lexus.

    Hi Ken

As reported before, my dealer flatly refuses to pay for petrol as "it is no longer Lexus policy". As it is a 240 mile round trip for these 2 recalls I'm not too happy. Not sure whether to contact Lexus HQ and ask for clarification

I see there are two bridges across to Edinburgh. I presume the M90 was built after the first bridge…?

I have been to Scotland several times buying used quarrying equipment. I haven’t been there for more than twenty years…

I had planned to fly my helicopter up to the Isle of Skye to stay with a friend for a couple of days. But due to an accident in 2011. I never went…

The privately owned family company that have several dealerships including Lexus Scotland. Have been good to deal with. Their salespeople are so much nicer to deal with than many of the PLC companies. All my cars have been driven down to Cornwall. I have met one of their MB guys, and one of their BMW guys.

The sales guy who drove my LC500 Convertible down, is no longer with Lexus…

I will be asking for my deposit back in the New Year for the new RZ.

Ken, your welcome to take my place on the waiting list…?

I have a BMW iX3 on order from my local BMW dealer. I am advised it should arrive in May… Having bought several cars from my local BMW dealer, they know me well. I believe them…!

The last communication from Lexus Edinburgh said…

We are still expecting the first customer deliveries to arrive early Summer 2023.

Reading the several RZ posts on the Forum. Others have got various different dates from their dealers…

And some say... I have heard from my dealer...!!! I don't hear from my dealer...!

As Lexus Edinburgh know you well. They will no doubt be pleased if you take my place on their waiting list for a new RZ…?

    Hi Kevin

If you have your cars driven down for such a long way, do you have any problems with damage? I'm thinking in particular of stone chips which is a pet hate of mine.

John, All be it. I am at the other end of the country. I have dealt with a car dealer in Edinburgh for several years. Buying three MB’s, five BMW’s and a Lexus LC500 Convertible...

I change my cars often. Dealing with a dealer more than 500 miles away. Hasn’t been a problem…

I agree that communication from Lexus about the RZ450 is very poor… As you say for a £72k car. They should be in very regular contact…! Irrespective of the delays in cars being manufactured and delivered…

I have ordered a new BMW iX1 from my local BMW dealer. I am advised it should arrive in May 2023. When I email or ring them. I get a quick reply…

I will probably ask for my RZ deposit back in the New Year…

I was thinking about buying a UX300e but have decided to buy a new Renault Megane E-Tech Launch Edition which I will get in early January…

I have bought a new VW Caddy 5 WAV for my wife, which is currently being converted. Dealing with this company has been brilliant compared to Lexus…!

    Hi Kevin

As I have said, I've never had a problem except in the last 18 months. I was with Toyota since 1976 and never had a problem and then moved to Lexus in 2003 but have only ever used 2 Lexus dealerships. I'm getting to the stage where I don't want to go and find a new dealer but may have to.

A neighbour of mine swears by BMW and buys new every 18 months or so. He knows the dealer principle and has passed my name to him. He rang and we had a good chat and I might go and see what they can offer.  I don't even know who the principle is at Lexus let alone ever spoken to him. As it is only 10 miles away it is more convenient that a 120 mile trip to Lexus. I'm still reluctant to move from Lexus but we shall see. The iX1 looks tempting!

With regards to the UX300e I would be tempted because the new upgrade is good. But the downer with me is they are still sticking with Chademo which is a backward step.

    anyway

    All the best

    John

Methinks John, that you are overdue a meet with your Dealer Principal to give him a piece of your mind. Do let us all know how you get on John as Dealerships operating on a top down baisis cannot afford to lose a Gold Nugget such as you.👍👍

Well I've been called many things in my time but never a Gold Nugget!!!.

I did speak to a senior person on Saturday but not the principle but I will soon. To be honest I got nowhere and I think I'm getting to old now to bother. I was particularly peeved to be told that it's not Lexus UK policy to pay petrol for a recall. This is absolute nonsense as on many occasions they have compensated for unscheduled recalls most notably the old IS 250 dash rattle where they looked after me very well. But the least they have done is fill the tank and wash the car.

The problem with this dealer is the high turnover of staff in recent months meaning the people I knew well have now left and the new ones seem to lack interest in building a relationship. I know one guy  has gone to MB. Might give him a call and look at some Mercs.

Not fair to say Lexus standards are now poor, had a number of Lexus cars over the past 20 years and the dealer has again been good with the purchase of my 350h FSport.   Ordered in Jan 22, original estimate was end Aug to mid Sep and car arrived in Nov 22 - kept updated throughout this period.

It might be dealer specific, but my dealer standards are poor compared to previous.

I understand this. But the communication with MB is way smoother and easier.

I think it is difficult to compare a previous experience with now. Unless you are ordering a MB at the same time as a Lexus then the comparison cannot really be made when all manufacturers are production constrained with moving build dates, or unable to even give one, shipping cars with missing features etc.

To put this in perspective, I have been a customer of Lexus since 2003 and purchased 11 new vehicles in that time. So you would think I would be a valued customer and they would look after me. Well, up to about 18 months ago they did. They were extremely helpful and went the last mile to sort out any problems I might have. In short, superb customer service. Now though, they never ring back when they say, have refused point blank to pay refuelling  costs for the recalls (120 mile round trip each time) and have yet to sort out a multitude of albeit small problems. This never happened in the past.

I ordered the RZ450 in May and despite many promises they never ring back with any update. As this is a 72k car, I'm tempted to cancel as there are a lot of cars out there with better range for a lower price and I doubt any worse customer service.  To be honest, I am losing faith in Lexus and it's probably time to jump ship. Perhaps it's me but I do expect better before everyone shoots me down!

If it is policy then Lexus UK is covering the cost, so I wonder if the dealership is syphoning off what was rightfully yours 😠 (money not actual petrol 🤣).

If Lexus UK aren't covering the cost then I cannot believe any dealer is paying out of their own pocket.

I know that in the past -on the rare occasions I have had to take a car in for unscheduled work- they have paid for petrol. I remember on the old IS250 a few years back when I took it in to have the dashboard rattle fixed there was a bottle of wine and a bunch of flowers for my wife on the back seat. Those were the days. I will clarify this with the dealer before I agree to take the car in.

The last 5 mins of my wait was while they went to fill it up.

I said “i only filled it 3 days ago and had done hardly any petrol miles since so leave it.”
Receptionist responded “it is Lexus policy to replenish fuel on recalls so we will squeeze in whatever we can”

Guy came back & said “it only took a fivers worth”

I thought that was the policy but when I went in for the last recall I asked and they refused. As I say, 240 miles for recalls is not cheap and also time consuming.

Had the recall done this morning. Wasn’t due to be done until Monday but dealer called & said bring today if you want, we’ve had a cancellation in the workshop.

It took 1 hour 5 mins so no inconvenience waiting for it, although I did tell them not to wash it.

As a matter of interest, did Lexus offer to pay for petrol ?  For me it's a 120 mile round trip which means 240 miles with the other recall I've had done.. I don't wish to sound pedantic but 2 recalls with a new car they should contribute something.

Received an update from my dealer yesterday. The current forecast is a car for a test drive early next year, maybe Feb with my delivery being May.
At least it isn’t moving back !

Interesting. I ordered mine in May and the latest information I received last Friday was delivery possibly end of June but maybe early July but they have no idea when a car will be available for a test drive.  It seems different dealers have different stories but I hope it is may rather than July

    Hi All,

This has just been put on the Lexus U.K. media site. I guess the new battery is the same as that on the Toyota BZ4X:

Upgrades to the Lexus UX 300e increase all-electric driving range by more than 40 per cent - Lexus Media Site

    Best wishes,

    Chris

Good upgrades but why do they persist with Chademo instead of CCS?

My dealer provided a further update on deliveries - looks like Lexus are shuffling builds to try to get some RZ’s out sooner rather than later

When the car goes into build the delivery times may come forward, this happens sometimes, so although I am quoting you May now it maybe a little sooner but I think March will be a bit too soon, just from what is happening with other models and delays. For example Lexus is pausing sales of the NX 350h so that they can catch up and fulfil customer orders. If they did not pause the sales on this model then we would be looking at customer deliveries in 2024. Therefore across all of our models unfortunately there have been delays and unexpected situations so I cannot comment 100% on the delivery date for the RZ.

That's interesting. I spoke to my dealer yesterday and he said the latest information he has from Lexus  is that he expects June delivery but thinks it might July or possibly early August.. I ordered the car on 2nd May.

Pricing 'from' is on the Lexus website, and has been for several weeks.

    https://www.lexus.co.uk/new-cars/rz/pre-order

The point I was making is that Lexus told a customer who asked about prices that pricing was not available yet. I replied to them 3 times that it was and each time they deleted my post. They have now changed the answer to the gentleman who raised the question and given him prices. The guy answering obviously didn't know what was going on.

Lexus has now released the prices and specs for the RZ ranging from £62500 to £72000 depending on how many bells, whistles and goodies you opt for. I think the info is initially aimed at potential customers who have put down a fully refundable £500 to be at the front of the queue.

According to Lexus UK, prices haven't been announced yet.  I commented to them but they deleted my post. Have a look here. Let's hope they don't delete there answer.

John, I had a message left today to ring Cameron from the same dealer we have both placed our orders for our new RZ’s. Cameron’s message was he needs to know the colour and interior colour. So my order could be fully processed to Lexus. I tried ringing him back and spoke to one of his colleagues. I asked did I need to provide my colours etc. If the car wont be delivered until whenever next year. And I asked again, when might it be delivered, and didn’t get an answer. You seem to be getting more info from the Exeter dealer... Can I ask have you provided your colours etc…? I might be better to cancel my order with Exeter and place it with the Lexus dealer that supplied my new LC500 Convertible...!

    Hi Kevin

I ordered Sonic Grey the same as my NX. I was told that it was better to provide the colour at the time of order to ensure it gets into the system quicker. Whether or not this makes a difference or not I don't know. To be honest, I might cancel depending on circumstances nearer the time when I've had a test drive. I still think 72k is too much but who knows by the time we get to next year.

    Hi Andy

After October I will probably just run it purely as a hybrid as charging from home will be more expensive than running on petrol. Future tariff changes may swing the EV back to being cheaper so I don't regret opting for the 450h+ which is a great car even if its £10k more than the 350h.

    Hi Ken

By some miracle I signed up to a 3 year deal with EDF last September at 21p/kwh. At the time, I didn't know whether I was doing the right thing as I was paying 14p with Octopus but that deal was coming to an end. So for once I made the right decision and will continue using the car mostly in EV for the next 2 years which is a lot cheaper than petrol. If only I had done the same with gas. You win some you lose some!
