considering is a parellel(euro import) & uk spec, there should be no reason not to service it by lexus. just them people not being helpful by sounds of it. i look at taking it to a japanese car specialist or something or try another lexus dealer.
there was a time(dont know if is still like this) that official car dealers wont service cars that people bought from 'car supermarket' this is due to most of them cars are new being sold at knockdown prices which were imported from places like malta, as its right hand drive & similer or exact uk spec.

the only thing i dont like is that there is no cover for it so the engine bay looks bit messy. shouldnt think it give the car that much more bhp....

Well at the moment I can't drive as I have not got a licence yet :tsktsk: but I want an IS200 so how much would I be looking to pay on insurance for an IS200.
Here is some information for sombody that wnats to try and find out how much it will be.
1) I am 18 y/o living in oxfordshire.
2) The car will be parked on the road (as i don't have a drive)
3) the car will be used by me and my girlfriend.
Cheers you lot. :D
I love how they drive as my uncle has an IS200 and he drives like a rally driver
dunno what insurance cost be like but wont be cheap i can tell you. do a few online quotes via the net to give u an idea. when i was 18 i owned a mazda 323f 1.6 & insurance was expensive even though i had some driving experience.
-
sport has lower springs, about 10-15mm lower think is after 1999 and small rear spoiler.
-
not many cars i owned.
so here it is:
1991 Mazda 323 1.3 LX 4dr
1991 modified Mazda 323F 1.6 5dr retractable headlamps
1999 IS200 current car
these not exact pictures of my cars owned but similer. my 1st car a mazda 323 1.3 good 1st car, well i thin it is! not the usual nova/fiesta what lot of new drivers go for. loved the 323f with retractable headlights. even if is all show no go. with its 1.6 carb engine.

I've just had mine MOT'd, there is a limit on the amount of lights you can have on the rear,
is there??!!
i saw the other day a jdm toyota lite ace mpv on the motorway with 6 side/brake lights(or shall i say 7 including the centrally mounted brake light), 3 on each side. looks good at night tho.
-
Pulled over this morning by Billy Law in the Volvo because I had too many rear lights on Can any one tell me what of my rear lights should be on in normal conditions my fog light is in the bumper of my Aristo Vertex V300 Jap import 2001 model
when u say 'billy law' i take it thats the police??
if so then they shouldnt pull u over unless some of the lights not working or is missing some lights.
as for what setup of the rear lights should be. only difference on aristo is the inner 2 red lights on the bootlid that is side/brake lights whereas on GS300 they are fog lights only.

saw a silver Altezza heading out of heathrow airport onto the M4 motorway towards london direction. was about 6pm - 6.30ish cant remember.
it had square rear no. plate(cant remember reg no), 15inch wheels on original japanese spec Altezza wheel covers, 4 rear circular brake & sidelights, rear fog light on the rear bumper.
-
i notice on my is200 the rear disc brakes got slight scoring lines round them whereas the front ones look fine. so does this mean the rear ones wear out quicker than front ones & indicating it needs replacing soon? is only done 46k miles so far & i dont really slam the brakes much only done so few times when ***** in front brake suddenly.
-
or get a bodyshop to fit the rear ones, they should be cheaper than what lexus charges but fitting is just as good......& get them colour coded perhaps?
-
Not many Toyota dealer will do the work. Toyota GB and Lexus GB won't let them.
Resale value - it will be lower if you don't have FLSH but you have very high mileage so you won't get top price anyway.
i didnt know there a limit of what servicing car dealers do / dont do?? or find a specialist japanese car or lexus garage that isnt assocaited with toyota lexus.

due to my recent issue with my OEM stereo i may well be getting a new head unit before o do i need to find a fascia plate so anyone know where these are bought?
a early topic i found here:here
stating u can get them from toyota, anyone got the part no.? or know elsewhere u can buy them as i may need a single din one.
-
thanks for the reply people. seems like no 'easy' solutions to it. looks like i gonna buy a new head unit then. if it means cheaper & without this common 'Err3' fault.
as for lexus warrenty no chance. i heard it costs over £600 for a new head unit from lexus, that i wont be getting! now i need to think of ways of getting those CD'd out before i buy new head unit.
i tried hitting the dash few times & removing the fuse but still no joy.
-
my stereo comes up with 'Err 3' on display when i try using the multi CD player & doesnt play the CDs & the CDs wont come out! been trying round for ages to get the CDs out but still no luck! any ideas of whats wrong with it ? expensive to fix? i dont really wanna go to lexus dealer.
is a Altezza, factory 6 speaker, same as uk spec IS200 S
thanks

always see a series 1 silver toyota aristo(Gs300) parked at Grovewood Avenue just before Eastwood Road on the border of Rayleigh / Eastwood in Essex near the Silver jubilee pub. is always there at night/ evenings so maybe the owners lives there.
it was f/r window deflectors, M reg i think & non lexus alloy wheels(could be 18s)

is got tiptronic switches on the steering wheel like the RS200 auto. dont think AS200 auto has them. surprised altezzascott not posted yet.
-
You might struggle to find insurance on the RS200
What sort of mods do you have in mind?
Wheels, suspension, engine, leather, ice etc etc
yea since some insurance company wont insure imports for under 25's unless your exisiting customer. Altezza looks are same as is200 only front grille differ & other little stuff. here a pic:here
pay £3k on insurance?! i wouldnt pay more than £2.5k on insurance for any car i rather wait till im 25 or over for high performance cars.
dunno how much insurance cost for altezza if your 20 but wont be cheap considering & 0 ncb, recent accident & thinking of modifications, depends what mods would just make very expensive even more expensive! wouldnt surprise me if it cost more than £3k all in! it be interesting to know how much it costs if u decide the altezza.

saw a Yellow Altezza in china town today,London on shaftsbury Avenue, 2.15pm afternoon, reg plate V2 P** with a Neo Customise front bumper, mesh front grille with 'Altezza' word logo very nice!

Hold on! Why doesn't Toyota buy their parts from one of these cheap suppliers? They could even get a discount for volume purchases. Toyota parts have never been expensive, though Lexus parts are.
The answer has to be that the cheap parts are not up to scratch. James May off Top Gear did a feature on an XJS recently where a company had upgraded old XJSs and replaced a lot of the components as well as uprating the performance. According to May the Jaguar from new was unreliable and the low cost components were not only unreliable, but they strangled the performance. The car was built to cost and reliability didn't matter once it'd come off the sales forecourt. Arguably, then it was a false economy as far as the owner was concerned, but a nice little earner for Jaguar in servicing and replacement parts.
So to take a Lexus and replace all the components with cheap ones is to totally wreck the car which Autocar's sister magazine in Germany stated was the best of the Japanese marques when it came to sticking to 'agreed procedures' and that take any Japanese car and it would beat a German car on reliability; something which Mercedes seems to have given up on recently.
I mean what's the point, just buy a Jag.
these cheap suppliers may not be toyota branded thats why is not officially used by them.is like saying use pattern parts that is widely used in the independant garage industry in UK like a cambelt that is non mazda would not last as long as a genuine mazda one being the non geniune one only last 50ish k whereas the genuine one last 100k so it would not look good for the company. As for Lexus parts being expensive yes but you find that if you order parts from Lexus it say 'genuine toyota part' even a lexus grille with a lexus badge on it, so basically there the same parts but at a higher price. i dont think pattern parts & geniune parts are neccesarily from same factory all the time...........

dont lowered springs shorten the life of shocks if its standard shocks?what i always been told.
-
unless your buyinh online phoning up can vary or even not insure you. the cars u listed like porsche & 350z is not surprising if u cant get insured for it or if u can is such a high price. your under 25 y/o. what is it u do for a living that u can afford these cars u listed?
-
dunno about same satisfaction or excitement.
before a lexus i considered a mitsubishi Galant 2.5 V6, a FTO(too high insurance otherwise would of got one) or a toyota Camry 2.2
-
just saw this on the misc gallery.
notice the main beam lights are yellow.is there any other purpose of this apart from maybe making it darker? & is this legal? i also notice lots of JDM cars in japan has this.
-
thats cheaper then the Oem part...
are these a improvement over the OEM brake pads
