  1. Thanks for all your comments. Plenty to digest but your views will help me make an informed decision.
  2. Thanks, I am currently between a Scorpion and a Smartrack 5+ Imob, which seems to offer belt and braces type protection but at a price. Its not a subject matter which I can get excited about, my insurance has not requested it, but after waiting for a year, I'd be pretty fxxxed off if it got stolen and yes, I would probably want it back because, I can't just go into the used market and replace it. Still got another 7 days before I get it from the detailers, can't wait.
  3. Thanks for the detailed response, I am researching them now.
  4. Whether better or not, I don't know, but thanks, I will research. What are the downsides, except perhaps, not recognised by insurance.
  5. I am thinking about getting a tracker installed on my new LC convertible. I have not been asked for one by insurance co. but having waited for a year for the car, I'd like to do the best to keep it in my hands. Can anyone recommend a installation/subscription company. I guess that I would look for the latest S5 tracker but I have no previous experience of trackers.
  6. Very good, my daughter said something along the same lines!
  7. Its now arrived at Swindon, getting closer, first road trip to Wales being planned but incredibly another three weeks before pick up, by the time its been prepared by Swindon and Topaz. All very exciting, here is a teaser.
  8. And ditto Andy re Knife use, all pre cut self healing etc. Some of the videos I have watched with Knife use so close to the bodywork are quite scary. I suspect the Topaz film and the Xpel are quite similar and a lot of it is down to the quality of the installation. Until my nephew, a car nut, stepped in and suggested Topaz, I was going to go down the Xpel route.
  9. Please, can someone tell me how to use a quote in this forum!
  10. I am going to Topaz, at their Bristol branch at Aztec West. I have seen some of their YT videos and seem to be very good, but at a price. I have visited their premises and was very impressed. Tonnes of experience in PPF. Its going to be kept outside so I am just trying to give protect it as much as I can. Total PPF plus ceramic coating, roof/wheel and interior protection plus glass coating on all but the windscreen. Although their PPF is expensive, the overall package seems fair.
  11. And yes, very much agree with doing the Carbon cills, an obvious potential scuffing one, especially on my wife's side🤣
  12. I've done ceramic coating on the black external plastic bits on my Mini using Geon Q trim but I am not sure I would trust myself on the bodywork, not on the LC anyway!
  13. Its getting closer. Pinged by the App to signal that it has arrived at Portbury. Funny that it's less than 10 miles from where I live and yet its journey now involves going to Derby, then to Swindon, then to Bristol for PPF/ceramic coating and then hopefully in 4 weeks to its new home.
  14. One will be arriving in North Somerset very shortly 🤞
  15. Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. And to all those who dismissed rubber ones, you have convinced me. Stick with carpet;/velour, give them a clean and replace when needed
  16. Thanks, but it appears they don't make them for the LC 500. It appears there are some disadvantages of having a rare car!
  17. Thanks! yes, I think you are right, either white or light beige, difficult with the light to know. I have asked the dealer to order a spare set, but unfortunately stock supply probs so not available to order currently. I am searching the net for bespoke alternatives plus no Lexus rubber ones for winter but I did find this which us food for thought https://ttw-autotrim.co.uk/
  18. Hi, I have a convertible regatta model on order. I was thinking of ordering additional carpet style mats to match what comes with the car. I am assuming carpet type mats come with it. In this way I can actually use them in Summer without putting rubbers down until Winter but still have a back up pair to make the car look like new again. Especially relevant given the regattas interior colour. Am I correct in thinking the mats which come with the car are colour matched to the interior? Thanks.
  19. I think you did well with the red on black. One of the nicest used ones I've seen. I considered a Maserati convertible myself but reliability and rust concerns against a potential 10 year Lexus warranty and the conservative me took over! I am not sure you would have faired much better with cash. They turned down my 85 cash bid against their 89 offer at the time.
  20. Thanks, and add to that the white and blue leather interior and we are in dreamland. I have told my wife that we'll have to cruise the sea fronts of Clevedon and Weston Super Mare. Its not exactly the grand corniche of the French Riviera but I am sure it will be fun!
  21. Thanks for your comment and the further wait is nothing compared to the 9 month wait to date! I chose the dark blue with blue roof, I thought it all went well together. As an aside, I nearly bought the car which you bought. Approx. 6 weeks ago, we got an erroneous update that the Regatta spec would not be built til the end of the year. We made an offer on the red one at Tunbridge which was not accepted and then a few days later, we received a further update re March build and therefore did not pursue the Tunbridge one further. I suspect it ultimately sold for something quite close to our offer. I think the red and black work well together, but I also love the look of the Regatta version.
  22. I just got pinged by the App to inform me that mine has left the factory, only a week after going in to build. And now the wait while it is transported across the seas from Tokyo to Portbury. This is quite exciting, anyone know how long the journey takes? I have asked a friend, who is a Bristol Channel pilot to be on the look out for it.
  23. It was an edition which came out last year but just in right hand drive ie for Japanese and UK market. This is the first example I have seen in the UK. It differs from the previous limited edition one in that it is available in all colours but not the special structural blue. Another difference for the eagle eyed is a blue rather than white steering wheel. I have one on order since last June which has just gone in to build stage which Is why I know a little about it. I must admit seeing one in the UK has got me quite excited!
  24. Thanks Geoff, I have just had a quote around that level from the dealer, so I am going to bite the bullet and order one. The other one looks tempting but with the risk attached, I think I will stick with the official part.
