  1. Wow !!! And they wonder why they are nicknamed stealership . That is unbelievable ! I’ve bought decent cars for less in the past with a new MOT . what on earth would a bonnet (Ali metal ) cost I wonder ! £25,000 if the plastic bumper is that much . Good luck
  2. If I win the lottery one day , by the end of the following day I will have purchased a red LC-500 maybe even two . What a car that is , probably the most reliable and best built car in that class too , along with NSX
  3. I’m gonna try that nano spray I’ve heard a few people mention that .
  4. Lots of people comment on the colour of my car wherever I go , it’s strange , in dull cloudy conditions it looks normal dare I say it (boring maroon red) actually quite dark maroon , in the sunlight it’s a different car , comes to life sparkles and seems at least three shades brighter . When it’s sunny and clean looks lovely with the white leather . Just need some sun !! There is a stunning Lexus LC-500 at nippers football training club , I’m sure it’s the same red but probably not I don’t know
  5. One more thing ! Before having an additional child and two dogs my wife had a civic type R the later bubble shape one . Only as she loved the look don’t believe it ever went above 60 mph , the ride was absolutely horrific ! I know it was a hot hatch but it literally was so bad and so hard and so brutal when it hit a pot hole -horrible , I’m not exaggerating it put me off driving it ,just borrow one of those for a week then climb back into your Lexus - 18” or not will feel like a rolls royce compared to a civic .pointless advice but a reminder that there are plenty cars out there a lot harsher on the road
  6. My 2012 advance has 18” wheels and the ride over bumpy roads is appalling for a luxury car due to the low profile tyres I’m sure , I’ve been in older version with 16”s I believe different beast all together . However the handling is superb and on decent roads (if you can find any ) it’s a dream . The 18s look so nice I’m prepared to put up with it and they are stock wheels. I have Pirelli P-zeros All round . I just chose what I thought were great tyres unless anyone can recommend better for ride on our Lexus vehicles ? And tyre pressures ? It seems everywhere I look there is a different answer to the right pressure , I went with what the manual states which does seem very high , something like 38-40 rear from memory and 36 front is it ? To be fair previous few cars were Honda legend 3.5 Vtec latest shape so very compliant but 16mpg local and & £600 tax which was a bit annoying but what an engine let me tell you , and a Volvo 2011 XC-70 which I’m sure would ride nice across pretty much any terrain . So perhaps I’m being a little harsh on the ride question being that last few cars were very large buses , Overall I’d still choose the IS dynamics of drive and handling over a GS which would be very similar to my legend and a little bit grandad I’ll admit . But I’ll stand by my original opinion , over rough nasty roads the ride is horrid especially at low speeds . It must be down to wheel size , my wife’s Vauxhall zafira with 16” wheels and massive tyre walls rides bloomin lovely ! Over the rough and it’s a Vauxhall ! It’s the only thing I’m not so happy with. the the rest of it is magic beautifully built with a silky engine makes up for it . Would appreciate tyre brand advice if there is indeed a brand that is suited for ride / noise .
  7. Autoglym hand polished , then a coat of harly carnuba wax ! 3 hours worth looks clean for a day before rain comes back FullSizeRender.MOV
  8. Best looking car on planet in best colour with an engine to die for ! I’m jealous need to sell the wife and have one of these one day
  9. I like those HC but for me the sequential lights are too Audi , and the last thing I want is my Lexus looking anything like an Audi . However I do think they are a bit smarter than the Vland so enjoy . Both better than stock I reckon overall .
  10. Fitted the vland tail lights , looks nice when on , but to be honest I kind of prefer my originals when off . But seems to have modernised it a bit , everyone else family / friends say they look great
  11. Before I put on eBay - does any fellow IS owner want my facelift is250 tail lights ? As new , I’ve opted for the Vland upgrade which are on their way . My old lights will be posted special delivery signed for . Obviously when I’ve fitted new ones so hopefully next week or so . £120 including the postage bulbs the lot ! Which I think is super price first come first serve text me 07584938691 can do bank transfer or welcome to collect
  12. My friend had a cl55 I’ve never been so scared as a passenger let me tell you . Yes a cracking engine , I think all the high end stuff from merc / BMW is great M5 etc , at a price of course they should of stuck to that level and resisted the urge to get on the mass production dog Pooh wagon that they push out in the form of A-C class and 1 series and effectively trash the good name for quality they did indeed have back in the day , the only quality your see in the average German branded showroom now is the dolly birds at reception and the decent coffee they feed you whilst your getting financially raped for all the unexpected repairs on 3rd service (out of warranty ) time 🙂
  13. There is surely nothing worse in car life than pulling up behind a 1.6 blue tech diesel C class with its fake plastic twin tail pipe exhaust moulds built into the bumper . I’d rather get the bus.
  14. To add to my post FYI , my son who is 21 is doing very well for himself and purchased a 2016 Mercedes C class couple in august last year , crazy car for a 21 year old and as a dad I wasn’t impressed ! Rather he saved up and buggered off to his own place 😅 just look at this ! In the last 5 months with only 36k on clock he has had the following failures mostly and luckily fixed under Mercedes used car warranty as he bought from Southampton Mercedes’ main dealer electronic steering sensor failed - steering wheel vibrating when turning Air bag sensor failed earring lights up water pump- leaking coolant half the engine apart to replace lost car for 3 days engine light - loss of power on motorway fault traced to some engine control cam shaft sensor hand brake cable snapped !!! Yes it actually snapped they keep them on the shelf as it turns out as such a common problem . knocking noise from front - he had to pay this one (wear and tear item ) both bottom ball joints although only done 2600 miles since purchase - I’m currently involved trying to get his costs back from the stealership this my friends is the difference between Japan and Germany ! This is a low mileage mint full merc history car and it is absolute mass produced junk !! A Ford Focus would be far more durable , we counted up the cost had he of needed to pay all this from his own pocket looking at £3000 ish water pump alone was a 7 hour job . NEVER allow your self to be fooled by the German lie !! My 2012 is250 is as tight as a drum although 4 years older it is in a different galaxy in quality terms than his overrated s”” box . Obviously I don’t word it this way to my nipper he loves it and each to own he would much prefer the Lexus but being a v6 his insurance cost would buy a small country . But seriously if you needed an example of how the 3 pointed star or the Audi vus sprung technik or whatever the slogan is , then this is it . I’ll walk to work before I ever spend my hard earnt money on the German lie . Im a Honda fan although I admit the range is now small and boring , but when you buy a Lexus a Honda a Toyota , you are buying a quality product , made by a workforce that value their jobs and reputation with quality and durability at the forefront of everything they do , yes they are machines and machines fail , the difference IMO is the Germans don’t give a s””” and it’s almost as if they are being built to fail . Rant over - god bless Toyota / Lexus / Honda
  15. My passenger heated seat is not working ! Light comes on the switch indicating fuse and power good but no heat ! Personally I couldn’t care less , but wife moaning now it’s cold . Anyone know what this could be ? If it’s heater pad within seat it can stay cold . Has anyone else had this ? Simple fix? Thanks in advance
  16. I was in motor trade for 12 years some time back , I knew before most that German cars especially Audi and merc are utter trash when it comes to reliability and “German engineering “ marketing tripe , the big stuff old E class etc were great but everything else is garbage , Honda / Toyota (Lexus ) are far far superior in engineering terms , but lack the so called image that people with no knowledge lust over . They have got progressively worse I’d rather drive a Honda jazz than a Audi A4 TDI or a merc C class , I simply couldn’t afford the catastrophic failure they all seem to get . My old accord coupe was in family 22 years ( dads before mine ) ) ) never , not once had a fault or let us down , no one on this planet could say the same for a german car guaranteed Honda - Lexus - Toyota - happy life . Simple’s .
  17. My son who’s 20 , bought a carbon fibre (effect ) spoiler for his F sport is220 , then crashed the car a while back before he fitted it , so never been on a car , he kept it but has offered to me as I now have a Lexus - doesn’t look right on my advance I don’t like it , so anyone want it local to Southampton ? He’s happy with £25 cash , reckons he paid £90 can be painted . Thought ask here before he puts on eBay . Collection from fawley Southampton , don’t always have internet signal to come on site can be text 07584938691 It’s only placed on my boot never been stuck down

  19. 18” wheels standard I think as looks the same as others of same year on the advance spec .
  20. Thanks for the response , I don’t know wheel size which is shameful ! The dealer fitted 4 new Pirelli’s . Currently at work (nights ) I’ll go have a look in car park later and see !! Great to know about rear brakes ! I’ll ensure I’ll get that done , I’m a bit old fashioned and tend to get at least an oil change every 6 months so will request the slider lube . Thanks
  21. Whilst I’m in the mood for rambling ! Anyone have any thoughts on the Vland rear light upgrade ? I’m not interested in modding or ruining a perfect car with add ons , but those lights do look pretty awsome to me .
  22. I am interested in servicing tips or anything that is essential on these cars engines ? Got interest at the risk of offending other model drivers ( not intended ) I looked at the newer shape model and drove a couple , but for me I found the shape I have purchased of higher quality , the fit and finish is better and feels more solid ? I may be wrong but the newer one just felt dare I say it ! Well , a bit cheap ! My old accord felt better engineered . Hopefully I’ve made the right choice with this car . Certainly impressed with it so far every journey feels like an experience ! Been a long time since I felt that way about a car in fact the last time was when I owned a Honda legend but that was not as dynamic as this Lexus . Love it .
  23. Hi all , I have just bought my first Lexus after months looking for the right one ! I have a IS250 2012 advance in red with cream mileage of 44000. Absolutely love the car and so far after owning only for a week have vowed I’ll never own anything else other than a Lexus from now on ! Had Hondas for years and they are great but always lusted over a 250 . Looking forward to learning and sharing on this forum. As you can see the car is pretty much as new just had 4 new Pirelli P zero fitted and want to keep it that way ! First challenge is keeping wife very much away from it as the wheels have no curbing marks at all . regards
