export_1690544200202.mov Very immature clip I know , but I have a hatred for battery cars , no sound no feel no soul no nothing , just impending battery pack failure .

Thank you I try and keep it clean as poss border line OCD I’m afraid

So , had the car a year now , and I can honestly say I can’t think of a car I’d rather have , other than a LC500 or a new shape IS but sadly the IS all seem to be hybrid which I just don’t want . She still looks good and gets comments more than any other car I’ve owned !! Maybe down to the colour I don’t know . But year in and still feels special

Thanks all , I’ll have to let them run a bit longer then I’ll go with one of these suggestions . Will never buy Pirelli again , my wife’s car has relatively cheap tyres falkens and they twice as old but look half the age as mine . And that’s with her giving zero frigs about curbs / pot holes or 15 point turns .

You’ve made me feel better about it

Excellent car , I’m newish to brand too after many Hondas which proved to be indestructible , the Lexus has the extra nice finish So far so good ! Welcome .

My Pirelli p-zero 18” tyres are dreadful ! They are coming up to a year old (only ) and have covered a mere 7k , little cracks all over look tired already . Cost a fortune , I won’t be buying them again . anyone have tyre suggestions for the IS250 ? 18” ? Not interested in cornering like senna , just want grip and comfort and quiet as possible . Michelin ? Dunlop ? Anyone have any experience of the best brand for these cars . Top tip avoid Pirelli. ,complained after google showing many people with same complaint - they don’t want to know .

So I had the spark plugs changed by lextech Southampton . My car has now done 51k ! I didn’t listen to advice of leaving them coz I’m an idiot ! I wanted peace of mind as my thinking was they’ve been in there 10 years . When I collected I asked to see old plugs out of interest and they looked pretty much as new , a little dusting of grey . What a waste of money !! Thought I’d share this , if you’re tempted like I was - don’t . They are indeed good for way way longer . Still at least peace of mind complete . For note I’d totally recommend lextech , Lexus technician of 20 years , great service lovely unit way cheaper than the dealer for dealer knowledge and service .

Annoying brake clatter when braking on lock at slow speed like a clicking sound ! This morning wheels off , removed callipers cleaned and greased shims and carrier with high quality ceramic brake grease , quick splash of Matt black on calliper , replaced pads , like new sound gone . If this helps anyone great .

Ceramic polish

He ceramic coated a Lexus LC in yellow recently - shame it was the hybrid , had of been the 5.0 I probably would have stolen it , as it was local I saw it and immediately wanted one . Ashley currently drives a Mercedes cls in black ( at 21) much to my frustration - he should be saving up to clear off buy a place. It’s an 06 and as much as I detest German tripe looks like it’s just come out of factory as he’s treated and made love to it on a crazy level -

Yes my son Ashley is 21 and is a mobile car detailer , he built his business from nothing and now does work for Bentley , and classic car dealer in beaulieu , he has two people working for him now !! Very proud of him . As he is mobile he is cheaper than most to ensure he captures the business . I’ll find his business card and post it shortly , we are in Southampton , obviously there is a limit to where it would be feasible to travel to . He does all the paint correction and stuff before applying it if required . Lots of pics on his web FullSizeRender.MOV -

My son does detailing he’s just ceramic polished for me , ready for spring and leather treated my seats . Nice surprise to wake up to after a night shift ! Still loving my 250 . Having a full 50k service at lextech Southampton next week , a well known Lexus specialist without the dealer price tag ! I’ve asked for new spark plugs also for peace of mind , I know it’s not really required at 50k but they’ve been in there for 11 years so why not , plan to keep it long term .

Does anyone want a spoiler (Southampton )

Sorry only just seen this message , don’t log on too often . I dumped it I’m afraid . No interest for a while and couldn’t be bothered with eBay etc . Kind regards -
May help someone , I noticed when on motorway in my is250 when releasing accelerator vibration through car , weirdly only upon release and not on acceleration. Had wheel alignment Hawkeye cameras done today and all four wheels balanced checked . Issue gone like a new car again. So if you experience this type of slight vibration when lifting off the gas at motorway speeds . This appears to be the fix

I have a vested interest in keeping it tip top, it’s the last of its kind i reckon . I test drove the newer Shape 250 , and it just is not as well made (sorry if that offends Mk3 owners ) I think my car is the cheapest out of my work mates , they all have 40-70k cars , a horrid line up of 1.0 turbo engines or diesels or even worse a hybrid !! I’d much rather have an older car that’s special In my opinion - V6- effortless , power to the rear . Magic . She’s just hit 48k now so barely run in for a Lexus (everyone says ) at least , I’m an ex Honda man and they were pretty much unbreakable - or the old school ones at least . I always said if god forbid we ever were to have nuclear war , three things would still be ok - cockroaches , Honda F20 2.0 petrol engine , Honda 3.5 legend engine . I’m sure Lexus must be the same , but have absolutely no faith at all in the hybrid set up in the newer 300h my friend has one of those perfectly pleasant but give me v6 any day

Thanks for the good advice ! As it happens I had the slider pins checked and lubricated not long after I bought the car as I had seen the issue on the forums . My car had been sat for 6 months as the previous owner was abroad , he then sold it as decided to live abroad “good choice I say “. Not long after having the sliders checked and callipers checked and lubed the OS Caliper stuck on (dragging ) as the car under warranty it had new Caliper and I insisted on new discs and pads that I paid towards as there was nothing wrong with them , I just wanted it done. I’ve been told to get the callipers and sliders serviced once a year which I will do , likely will use lextech in Southampton for yearly service . I will also change my oil my self at 6 monthly it’s just something I’ve always done . So two oils changes a year , slider check , and always super unleaded . Another member also recommended some valve cleaner in the tank every few thousand miles . To be fair the brake job was easy likely as it’s all been recently serviced and new discs- I say recently around 6 months ago now . And I don’t reckon they cleaned the shoes and system as lots dust . Shame they didn’t adjust the foot brake then . Thanks
-
My foot brake was not brilliant , found I was having to stamp on it for it to hold before putting in park rather than the dreadful habit people get into of holding on the gearbox ! Not good I’ve been told. And my drive is only slight incline . Looked on YouTube and found a few vids relating to adjustment on the foot brake type with a drum set up internal to disc ! Not Lexus is250 specific but other models of same set up and some useful instructions I found on google Had no idea , I assumed was calliper . Very easy - wheel off , calliper off (one bolt ) , you can either slide disc off or use the inspection hole after removing rubber grommet , click one at a time on the cog using a screwdriver towards the front of car until disc no longer turns then back off two clicks , I’ve tested and driven , now holds lovely without having to stamp on it , still around 7 clicks on the pedal but holds as should and without excess effort . I should have made a vid for the feeling of pride !! But very easy to do . I also cleaned the set up and inside of hub with brake cleaner lots of brown brake dust cleared . The shoes were around 2.5-3mm thick which for this service I believe is as they should be . Most if you probably know all the above - but one comment I’d make is the cleaning of internals where the shoe meets face of hub has probably had most effect . It’s now shiny and clean rather than brown coating of dust . Took me 10-15 mins a side also cleaned up the arms and springs of dirt - why not as there anyway .

Pirelli say that if it’s run flat will have RSC or run flat printed on side wall , I have neither thankfully . But thank you for the heads up - one to watch for future , it makes sense that run flats would be very hard on side wall . And I do have a space saver wheel , I remember now the dealer offered me a spare full size alloy the previous owner had as he didn’t like having only a space saver but I declined think it was off a RX .
-
Gonna check I can’t even remember if I have a spare wheel
-
That’s interesting ! I have no idea I’ll look into that . I’ll try 37 all round see if that is any better . Thanks
-
Very interesting ! Thanks for posting this . I will be changing oil every 6 months as did previous owner , I only use super unleaded so I hope this is helping to reduce carbon build up risk . Maybe it’s not . I also make sure the car gets a motorway blast at least every month Car has now done 39k . Intend to keep for long time as I’ve had far too many cars and wasted lots of money , also anything newer in Lexus world seems to be hybrid , I’d rather boil my head than buy a hybrid , but guess I’ll have to one day . so I’m interested in looking after the engine best I can .
