Well we got our 2nd key last Thursday as promised. Handed to me and told all sorted.

That's when the fun really began.

Unless you have a profile this key comes up as guest. Then you have to ensure that all the settings you had on your original key are also enabled for this key.

We have an added problem as the second key is for my wife, we only have one car, so we set a profile up for her and if we are both in the car it may choose the wrong key - such fun.

Then there is the warning that keeps coming up when you get in the car telling you that a new key has been registered and to contact your dealer if you didn't register a new key.  I called the dealer and they said it was a security feature and that the message will disappear in a week or so !

I did wonder about this. I suppose only one key at a time in the car.

Putting one key "to sleep" would probably work.

Looking forward to my second key, meaning looking forward to my second key(free of charge) at the end of January. As they are book up and I can’t do two days in January at a time that suits someone who paid £60 grand + to them for a car with two keys. At least I a date for it. 😀

Yes, the free of charge bit is quite good. 🙄

Hopefully you get your second key soon 😀

Received an email asking me if I’d like to get the car earlier in February!? (April is the original delivery date) Replied I’d like to collect it in March so I don’t end up September registration number lol

Probably about a year ago I received a similar email with same dates. I wanted a March/April delivery.

I eventually received my car in September 🙈🙈🙈

I've also not heard anything about the locking wheel bolts which weren't supplied with the car at delivery due to a shortage. Anyone had those either? Thank you

I was originally told that Lexus no longer supply locking wheel nuts but was later told that they will be supplied "later".

It was the first 'proper frost' for me this morning since I've had the NX. It was fluctuating between 0 and -1oC.

Fortunately mine was okay. I don't use the passenger side doors in the morning so I can't comment on them (they'd be more 'exposed' to the weather with the way I park). The driver's door was fine. The offside rear took a few 'squeezes' of the little button inside the handle but it did ultimately open up fine.

It's something I'll just keep an eye on.

My only worry is that with auto folding/opening mirrors in this cold weather. There was an awful lot of 'crackling' sounds from the breaking of ice this morning as they opened out and it wasn't too clever folding in when I locked the car when I got to work. 😬 I'd like to deactivate them folding during the cold spell but without a manual, I haven't a clue how to do so. The online thingy suggests it's a button on the drivers door (page 147/148). I've had to screenshot the pages, print them off and I'll take it out to the car later...

I think on drivers door panel there is a mirror button which if illuminated (auto) will auto fold mirrors. (Button on the left of this manually folds in mirrors.)

Press this button and mirrors will remain out. (hopefully 😀)

Finally picked up our new NX on Friday!!!!

    🥳 👏 🙌 🥳 🙌 👏 🥳 🙌 👏 🥳

So happy to finally have our car! It’s gorgeous and everything we wanted 💗 Our dealership ended up throwing in a few freebies too, to compensate us for the order mix up, so that’s made things better too 😊
It brings to an end, what feels like a very long wait, for the car we ordered back in September 2022.

Looking forward to enjoying everything our new car has to offer!

    Great news 😀😀

    as above

1] the 12 v aux battery isn't charged by the engine, it is charged by the vehicle's low voltage supply which is provided by the hybrid system when it is in Ready mode. That energy comes from the high voltage traction battery, regenerative brakes or petrol engine as determined by the system. It isn't something you need to worry about or can control.

2] the petrol engine is started from one of the electric motors within the hybrid system, powered from the high voltage traction battery. The 12 v aux battery only provides standby power for retaining memory settings, the alarm and door locking/unlocking, and powers up the vehicle's systems to allow it to get into Ready mode when the hybrid system takes over.

    Thanks for this.

I am still trying to understand how it all works.

I have just discovered this forum. It’s all very quiet for October and hopefully that’s a good sign 🙂 I am just at the beginning of journey and ordered NX350h Takumi, sonic white with black & rich cream interior 2 days ago (UK Lexus). Delivery time I am given is April 2024 🤞 we shall see if and when it happens.

    Welcome 😀

Deliveries appear to be improving so hopefully you are fine for April - good luck 😀

Gazetta - rather than publicise anything useful to thieves if your dealer ‘has taken steps to prevent wheel arch attacks’ it may be useful to name them here, then other owners can at least refer their own dealers to yours for advice. Here’s hoping they can use those same methods on my LC!

I think it is "Lexus" that has improved security in the later models rather the actual dealer doing something.

I now have an appointment with a Lexus body shop to see if it can be polished out, or have to have the whole bonnet re-sprayed and the wings to blended in. Supagard to pick up the bill. Next car £500 from a scrapyard then I don’t have to care about the car or the service I get (Good service from Supagard).

I know what you mean about £500 car. Quite tempting to just buy an "old" car that you don't have to worry about.

Yes agree, but dealer said a lifting jack would be provided in due course.  As I'm looking for a space saver wheel for the long-trip peace of mind, I'll be happy to have it.

I hope you are correct about this as I would like to have a jack and spare wheel even if it does generally live in my garage.

In the USA, it is possible to use the Link app to start and drive the car. We are happy for the cellphone to keep our bank access secure with secure recognition systems, how can it not be secure for our car? Lexus UK just making the car only fully useful for one driver.

    Very good point
