  1. I’ve got SyncEV charger, untethered, chosen because it was the smallest available and I wanted to put it on a low brick fence. I don’t subscribe to any special EV electricity plans as they mean higher chargers during the day, as a result as I don’t care what time I charge, I just do it occasionally in the morning while having a breakfast or before travelling.
  2. I don’t think it is going to help as insurance rates are going up across all cars and it is not specific to your model. It is not even caused by theft, but by repair to be more expensive You might be driving a 90’s BMW but you can still hit a Tesla and your insurance provider will have to pay for it.
  3. I understand that 450h would switch engine on when windscreen heater is on unless it is plugged in. At least I heard my starting the engine, but only when windscreeen heater is on. I suspect 350h always switches the engine on? And yes, I think my app moved from 10 to 20 minutes couple months ago
  4. Lexus is not a “sporty car”, so I am not sure why one would go for a “sport”. which is why I went for a Takumi.
  5. Last summer while on holiday abroad I drove a rental VW Tiguan with Hold on by default and I found it quite annoying when I forgot to disable it each time I started the car. my previous car was an automatic without “Hold”, so I am too used to just stop at traffic lights with my foot on the break pedal that so far I did not feel the need to use the button on my new Lexus.
  6. Orange is not for “fast charging points”, plug-in hybrids do not support what is called “fast DC charging”. It is a type 2 cable for charging using home charger, 30 amp, I have installed one in my driveway. It he cable would also work at “destination chargers” (at a hotel etc), although with plug-in it is not that important 13 amp is called “granny charger”. I don’t this as I have a 30amp charger, so I put it away and keep only the orange cable in the car as my charger is untethered.
  7. Strange. My works OK, the only issue so far was that it takes too long to send the command to the car so you occasionally wait until you see from a window the car flushing (it is park next to my front window) and I had to send it twice on a particular cold day (I guess the servers were overloaded). I also have a feeling that the app/servers are getting better. At least I can see a state of battery charge quicker now (this is something I tend to check via an app to see if I need to connect the car to the charger).
  8. I am only using “Start Climate”, it is quite useful when the weather is cold - it is nice to get to a car that has been pre-heated and defrosted. I can’t think of any situation when I might find the other controls useful though…
  9. I am not an expert, but I would assume it would simply stop switching the engine off as the battery degrades. I remember seen on YouTube someone driving Prius with a degraded battery (before replacing it).
  10. I suspect this is an iPhone behaviour, not car’s. My wife noticed something else - in the morning car play does not just play music and show a map, but it also shows a button “navigate to work” (it seems to be choosing it based on previous trips at this time, does not show at other times, and it is clearly an Apple Maps on her phone doing it).
  11. If it lasts for more than couple hours it is not normal.
  12. It does thos occasionally. I believe it is the backend that is unreliable and occasionally goes down. Toyota is not as good at software as it is at car making.
  13. One thing that is not obvious is that Siri needs to be enabled to use CarPlay https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/iphone/iph6860e6b53/ios
  14. Is charger working? it have to be “charge now” on both sides.
  15. It is not a fully electric car, so one has to use oil at least occasionally, otherwise it is not good for the engine. If it happens in the morning during cold weather so be it. At least it does not waste as much as it uses the heat produced, unlike running an engine in summer.
