  1. Not really possible without major software & wiring mods. The GPS antenna is about the only thing in common between the two systems. Software protocols are entirely different which is only the start of the problem as I don't know of a unit that has any form of video/picture output. So you have a product without an input and one without an output......not a good start!
  2. My SE-L is 10 months old and the calipers are covered in surface rust, doesn't look good, but apparently that's what to expect. I asked if this was how they should look after only 9k miles and was told it was and they didn't consider it a fault! That's ok then!
  3. I suffer from the same problem with an 8 month old RX300SEL and a V3.....doesn't happen all the time, but usually cuts the signal within the first 10 seconds, if you pass that period the call goes ahead as normal. Never had a problem with a Nokia 6230, so I assume that it is a random compatability problem with V3's as I have pretty much everything apart from bluetooth switched off on the phone including the voice activation function. Would be very interested also, if somebody has a fix!
  4. Got both camera and PDC........the camera is wonderful during the day, but less use in the dark. PDC cost £250 fitted and I have no doubt saved me double that amount in avoiding walls and posts.
  5. Have a look at the first review in Autocar published yesterday.........it makes very interesting and complimentary reading about the 400!
  6. I need some advice! Looking forward to collecting a new IS200 and will be getting an Origin B2 GATSO/GPS system but have been advised that the antenna has be fitted under the rear parcel shelf as the front windscreen will reflect the signal, with the obvious consequence that the unit won't be very effective. Does this apply to the rear screen as well? Can someone confirm if it can be placed on/under the dashboard or if it has to be by the rear parcel shelf? Many thanks. RAD. java script:emoticon('')
  7. There really is no need to change your phone if you just borrow somebody's Sony (which seems to work well) bluetooth phone to install the memory using your sim card. You will have to make sure that all your contacts are on the card and have been copied from the phone memory. Once the memory transfer is complete (which only takes a couple of minutes) your Nokia will work without a problem. It seems that only Nokia and Motorola suffer from the "one contact at a time" problem, however don't rely on other makes working without trying them first. Best of luck.
  8. Neither Nokia or Motorola work well with a total memory dump. As you have experienced they will only do one number at a time, however if you can borrow any LG, Samsung or especially Sony bluetooth enabled phone, they are able to transfer your complete memory in one go. Once you have done that you can then go back to your 6230i. You will find that the general memory will not work when the car is moving - which is a regretable feature, but the one touch feature is still active. Good luck!
  9. I'm considering buying a new 200, but with the new model coming out, are there any "amazing" deals or would it be crazy not to wait for the new one?
  10. I've had the same problem, same colour interior and bought the black mats.......they look great and contrast nicely. They cost about the same as a meal for 4 at Claridges, but last slightly longer. Enjoy car and stop looking at the dirt!
  11. The Sat Nav is wonderful and the camera an excellent edition, but don't shell out £500 for PDC. The most you should pay for an "X Vision" kit fitted is £250. But will you need one if you have the camera?
  12. Obviously, its daft to accept a Bluetooth invitation unless s*x is involved, however with the current Nokia and Lexus RX incar systems, they rely on bluetooth to work. Unless you want to switch it off each time you leave the car and back on when you get in, it makes sense to have it active all the time. Now which pub were we talking about?
  13. Verizon are the US owned arm of Vodafone and don't sell GSM phones. They do sell a bluetooth Motorola, LG and Samsung but not many Nokia's, as "Cingular", the major GSM airtime contractor focus on them. Suggest you get the LG or Samsung as others don't work well with the address book being time consuming to import.......borrow somebody's bluetooth phone and try it out, its very easy to install and equally easy to delete. Good luck.
  14. Had the same problem and purchased the Black Lexus mats which cost about the same price as a decent meal at the Savoy including bubbly! Have a look at a guy on eBay his vendor name is "wickedkitmatco". I wish I had found out about him earlier. Here's a quote from his add..... "" RX 300 set of four tailored car mats, black, with grey piping ,Brand new Tailored mats made in the UK, excellent quality mats that will fit your car perfectly, you wont be dissapointed and your Lexus will love them , I think these are the best quality and best fitting mats available on e bay, may be not the cheapest , ideal as a spruce up for your car or as a gift, 100% money back if not as described. "" From memory they went for about £30 which is not bad value and means you can still buy a small house in Norwich with the saving!
  15. I am using a Nokia 6230 with a 'L' 2005 model. If I make a call by using the phone keypad rather than through the car system, it disconnects the bluetooth link and you end up having to use the phone's handsfree system (if it has one), not the cars. Very frustrating and also illegal. Without VA, it really makes the system very hard work, especially as the U.S. system is fully intergrated.....and works just fine.
  16. There is obviously speed detecting sensors (I assume something to do with the ABS) as both the Bluetooth and GPS systems are switched "off"java script:emoticon('') - when movement is detected. It would be a real + to get the doors locking after 10 mph- both Mercs and BMW have the facility (although it can be swiched off if you require). Good luck with your research and please post any success.
  17. The bluetooth installation does not work with the voice activation! But the system works well as long as you don't have to install either a Motorola or Nokia address book as they have be done one number at a time. With a Sony it will take the entire address book and install all contacts in one action. So if you are using a Motorola/Nokia, suggest you borrow a mates Sony phone, put your SIM card in, transfer your data base, which will then work with pretty much any bluetooth enabled phone. You can control your radio/CD etc with the V.A., but quite frankly its easier to do it by hand as its not happy with my accent, which I never considered strong. Its a great shame that they never got the phone V.A. working, that really would have been a major +. The Digital Traffic Info (which is transmitted on a sub-carrier on Clasffic fm) is wonderful. It will give you all traffic problems on major roads throughout the country. If you are using the GPS on a journey, it will also inform you of problems ahead (if there are any) and offer you an alternative route. Fantastic.
  18. Glass's Guide is showing a '03 with 19k trading at £23k so it looks as though you have another £4k potential loss over the next 6 months. There is very little with the exception of the Mini and BMW X5d that will hold anything like its value....some of the larger Mercs, BMW's and Audi's are down £25k+ when you drive them out the showroom. Keeping a car for two years+ is usually the most cost effective form of ownership.....anything less, well you know the rest.
  19. I really appreciate your comments.......they must have forgotten to add it to the first 2005 cars, I will certainly be asking why and when a retro-fit (I assume software upgrade) is available.
  20. Is there not a voice command for some of these tasks you want to be able to do whilst moving? There are 200 of them after all, you'd think one of them would be of use whilst moving. br D ← The car doesn't has voice activation! ← Sorry thought you said your car was the 2005 model. One of the revisions made to the 2005 model year car is voice activation. br D ← To the best of my knowledge it is a 2005 model as it has bluetooth and digital traffic info, both of which have only just been introduced for '05. It certainly doesn't mention it in the manual and I phoned the dealer, who confirms that it is not available on the RX. Well not yet anyway! I also have a Toyota Previa with the same GPS system - same problem. There must be a fix!

  22. You are right about it being annoying, even with a passenger it still doesn't allow full function of either the phone or GPS......
