    I feel your pain. I'm 6ft1 and a seized seat clamp bolt meant it wasn't going in. That's a real drawback for me as I used to take my bike everywhere when I travelled with work. I really don't want a roof rack, if I do I'll find the thule version hopefully. Used their aero bars on last two skodas and they worked superbly, literally. The only other option is to buy a new bike just for travelling and dry days and keep the seat post functioning!

    I've found sport mode plus full throttle works as good as you'll get for overtaking. It's a massive improvement over my wife's Auris in that respect, thank goodness.

    As I thought they're pretty much pointless! It sounds as though my car is wherr it should be mpg wise given how I drive it. Anything over 40 is a financial bonus for business use, at fast motorway cruising speeds, and so far that's been the case. I'll give the battery air filter a clean later in the year when it's not constantly raining. I might have to wait a while for that day.....

    I think I posted earlier that 40mpg was my target business mileage eco, do far it's doing that. Bizarrely it's more eco at 75-80 on the M4 than it is pooling at 40 ish around here locally. I guess no car is better on undulating B lanes than flat M-ways, but I would have thought that the regen and battery energy would come into its own on such roads compared to conventional ice power. That said, really enjoying the ownership experience. It's a 1970s cocktail cabinet and humidor kind of car, but can slightly kick ***** when you need it to. Happy Easter to you all!

    Another refuel, trip said 42.3, app calculated 39.5 What's slightly bizarre is that the average dropped by around 3mpg after a 220 mile on the M4, followed by pootling around the lanes of Pembrokeshire for the last couple of weeks. Could that be a symptom of impaired battery cooling? using E5 petrol makes no difference either. Other things I've tried an wondered just how/why is the manual sport mode with the paddles. Briefly tried it, and thought it might just be an engine revs thing; but how is it supposed to work? And just why on a vehicle with a CVT

    CC always off be default for that reason. Car is a used Lexus "Select" and has just been serviced, so I am making an assumption that the fan and filter are working as they should be.

    I've been experimenting with eE5 vs E10 on the basis the facebook UK owners group thought is almost unanimously a noticeable improvement in eco. I did with my Super 2.0TSI, not so sure with a normally aspirated engine. Two tanks in on E5 and I can't see any significant improvement in eco, but i did change the rear tyres after the first tank to supposedly A rated eco ones, but yet to see any real benefits. I guess cruising at a GPS speed of around 80 doesn't help.

    Filled up again yesterday, similar value on the trip at 46.0mpg, actual was 43.3 this time, so not so far away. Thus far I can deduce there is a measurement bias with a large degree of uncertainty.

    Sorry, one more question and one unlikely answered in another thread without huge amounts of searching. What the max length of flat pack you can fit in with the rear seats down? The item I need to collect is 1.5m in length.

    Thing is, it was within 0.2 the previous fill up. Guess time will tell.

    Just filled up for the 3rd time and this is concerning. The trip comp showed 45.5mpg. I double checked the data and couldn't spot an error, either the trip is way out or I didn't actually brim it properly the time before. The fuel gauge looked full though so I don't think that was the problem.

    I can't understand that either, but didn't want to argue the toss with them at the time. Tbh I was taken aback, it's not usual for an indie garage workshop to decline to do some work, usually the other way round Update: this might explain why the garage declined: https://caradas.com/wheel-alignment-adas-best-practice/ but still, returning it back to factory settings should mean that ADAS works better, the implication is that hitting potholes etc and kncoking it out means your ADAS becomes unuseable / unsafe??

    Apologies more thread resurrection. Took my car to have 2 new rear tyres fitted and a 4 wheel alignment. Techie told me they can't do the alignment checks if the car has ADAS as latter needs to be recalibrated. Note sure if my car has it, and whether that's the case or not...?

    First problem of the day, garage can't check alignment as that needs the ADAS to be recalibrated which they cannot do. I guess that's a task for the dealer unless I can find a certified service centre more local. That's a pita!

    Although there is a perfectly usable Yokohama E51A on the rear (not the GT as you pointed out) the other side is a name i don't even recognise, so tomorrow it will be fitted with Falken Azenis FK520 and get a 4 wheel alignment check using the Absolute Alignment system.

    I'm reading good things about Falken Azenis FK520 and they're under £100 a corner. The Yokohama can be had for £86 at black circles, the turanza t6 and t005 are both over £100 a corner. I know that the Falkens have 7.7mm of new tread depth, and guarantee 50k km so there's that unique benefit. Of course deeper tread blocks = less precise handling and initially higher rolling resistance but they're also A rated so I might try them.

    Apologies for resurrecting this, I'm searching for best value eco tyre, as in best fuel eco. The OE fitted Yokahamas are on the shortlist, along with Bridgestone Turanza. Over the years I've tried just about every brand, usually the highest performing ones for the cash as that's always been more interesting, but I acquired my IS300h with the sole purpose of cheaper motoring. Anything else that folks have tried that have impressed in that respect?

    Yes I found that. Tyres next, fronts are OK sumitomo, but I have mixed brands at the rear. Two new Yokohamas won't hurt.

    Thank you! It worked. I cannot imagine how difficult it was for the Toyota engineers to have designed such a ridiculously unintuitive UI. Im still unsure how you navigate between ensembles, having to use the cd player shuffle buttons is a master stroke. I found BBC so that's all good, though I haven't found R6 yet, I daren't look in case I lose the whole lot!

    I used DAB in my last two cars, and agree it works seamlessly. The sound quality is also very good as you'd expect.

    Just looked at black circles, these are one of the cheapest options at £86 per tyre fitted. I was thinking of Bridgestone Turanza, had them on my Superb and were OK for handling and grip and around 2-3 mpg better than the Rainsports that replaced them back in November. The Yokohamas are rated B for eco, same as the Turanza, so seems like a good choice. I have a mixed pair at the rear, a Bridgestone and a Falken, both with lots of tread depth left, so I may just changed the fronts that have a name that I have never heard of.

    Ah, the eternal challenge.....I have a few stories about that, and in practice very very few understand the physics involved sufficiently well enough to get it right, very few of them even understand how the instrumentation even works.
