  1. On my V800, there is an option called Send All Contacts which would do the whole phonebook in one go. I am sure I've seen this also on some Nokia's - might be worth investigating. I've tried in on my Sony Ericsson and works nicely.
  2. Going to Chamonix. I still want to be prepare just in case some snowstorm comes out of the blue
  3. Thanks for all the tips everyone :D I assume that the tyres that usually come with the UK RX300s are summer tyres? Does anyone know of any good online retailers for buying the König snowchains? Are they generic or is there any specific model to look out for? I was under the impression that a spare wheel is available under the booth? I've had no answers to my question regarding the roof pack . Does no-one use these? (I have never seen one of an RX300 other than in pictures)
  4. I have a Sony Ericsson V800. THe 6230 should be able to do it with no problem. Did you manage to successfully pair your car and mobile device? You can tell this when you first switch on your car, it should say something like "Bluetooth Connection Successful" on the NAV.
  5. How about R4OOH for a RX400h. ← I don't think you can have "O"'s or "0"s in the last 3 characters of old style plates.
  6. I agree that the SAT NAV is a must have if you can afford the extra 2K. The camera is superb for parking, you also get a great POI guide which includes all telephone numbers / addresses. I do not do any long travels, but occasionally I go out of London from fresh air and I find it particularly useful in locating car parks and pubs. One other thing you should consider if you have a 1 year old is the bumper protector which will save you scratching your bumber when loading the pram :D It costs under 100 GBP.
  7. Does the car still alarm even if it is not deadlocked? How much extra security does deadlocking provide? Also, what happens if you press 3 times by accident? Does it then go back into single lock mode?
  8. R U 100% about this? When I press once to lock the car, I can see the LED starting to flash which I presume means that the alarm is now active?
  9. I have no idea. Is there any easy way to check? (I bought the car new in Jan 2005)
  10. Hi, I am looking to go to France with my RX300 in a couple of weeks and need some advice as I have not done much travelling by car. (The distance to my destination is approx 600 miles each way) 1/ Will my SAT NAV cover France. Or will I have to purchase a special CD/DVD? (if so could you please advise best place to buy from). My car is an RX300 SE + NAV 2005 model. 2/ I have lots of baggage and I am considering buying a roof pack. Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with this add-on? Where is the recommended place to purchase from? And is it easy to remove/store when not in use? 3/ If my car breaks down in France, will the Lexus emergency service help me outside the UK? Would they give me a replacement car while repair is taking place? 4/ I might be driving in regions where there is significant snow on the streets. Would I be ok with my existing tyres? (I would like to avoid putting special types if I can) 5/ Is there anything else I need to watch for? :) Thanks for your help!
  11. I got mine with 3/4 of a tank when I collected it in Jan 05. The car also had 20 miles on the meter which I was a bit surprised about, is that normal?
  12. :P WE ARE SAFE!!!!!! :P Offical reply from Lexus regarding the subject: http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/#00000474
  13. Hi Richard, Welcome to the club. I had the same question last month and asked Lexus GB, here is their reply: ------------- From August 2004 production, RX300 derivatives have been enhanced as follows: - RX300 now includes rain sensitive windscreen wipers (previously only standard on the SE and SE-L) - RX300 SE now includes the Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS) (previously only standard on the SE-L) - The Satellite Navigation system (optional on SE and standard on SE-L) has been upgraded to include: - Electronic Traffic Avoidance - Voice recognition of commands - Facilitation of handsfree use of compatible Bluetooth mobile phone - Steering wheel mounted switches for voice recognition and mobile phone use ------------- Sami
  14. I have a question regarding fuel. Is there any advantage in using Super Unleaded fuel (grade 98) on the RX300? I am no expert in the subject but I once heard that Super Unleaded is better for certain engines.
  15. There are some interesting arguments taking place on this subject at the following URL: http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2005...ile_viru_1.html Only the paranoid survive I love it. :P Feels so much better than any of the previous german cars I had.

  17. Here is another scary report on viruses infecting cars, this time with backing from IBM! This is becoming quite serious http://techrepublic.com.com/5100-10595_11-...tml?tag=nl.e019
  18. A friend of mine with a Bluetooth Nokia Symbian phone (Nokia 7610) got infected with a bad virus one night at the pub. He got an authentication message where the device was identifying itself as "HOTGIRL_PIN_1234". So the phone displayed something like "Do you wish to allow "HOTGIRL_PIN_1234" to connect? (The clever thing here is that an easy PIN is displayed in the device name so once the recipent accepts, they know which PIN to enter) Once he accepted the phone got infected with a Symbian virus which went through his phonebook and randomly sent SMS messages + the phone itself started scanning other phones over Bluetooth to infect them! The phone became unusable as the CPU was being used at it's limits therefore he could hardly make calls.

  20. Joha, thanks for the tip. This is exactly what I am looking for. It's also great to see that they have them in different colors and not only in black. Here is the URL: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=63690 I have a couple of questions: 1/ It only specificies compatibility with: 99-2003 Lexus RX 300,2004 RX330 & 2005 RX330. I have an RX300 2005 model. Could there be any compatibility issues associated? 2/ As this is a USA reseller, I presume that the mats are targetted towards left hand drive vehicles. Is this an issue? Would they work fine on right hand side vehicles?
  21. I have uploaded my mobile's phonebook into the Lexus NAV system and I am wondering if anyone has any tips on keeping it synchronzed with my phone as I add/delete entries? Are there any recommended practices? Are memory button shortcuts affected if the phonebook is updated? Thanks, Sami
  22. I am not aware that any of the current LG or Samsungs from Verizon have Bluetooth. If you have not yet purchased your phone, I suggest you go for the Motorola V710, it's a great phone: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/c...tedPhoneId=1570
  23. Hi Rad, Thanks for the tip. I found a couple of resellers on ebay, unfortunately none have rubber ones advertized: http://search.ebay.co.uk/rx300-mats_W0QQfromZR40QQsojsZ1 Thanks anyway, I'll keep on searching and post back if I find anything good. Sami
  24. I just got picked up my new RX300 SE + NAV. Many thanks to those who helped me decide on the model. I did not got for SEL at the end as I could not justify the extra cost especially with the latest upgrade spec of the SE. I went for the Platinum Ice / Sussex combination. Was strongly considering Astral Black but did not go for it at the end as it would incur too much maintainance for keeping it clean especially with UK weather conditions. I am looking to buy some extra parts and was wondering if anyone could help me in choosing these: 1/ The floor mats which come with Sussex are light colored and get dirty very quickly. I am looking to replace them with some rubber mats. Can anyone suggest a good place to get these from? Are there any online shops around? 2/ Child seats. Lexus dealer mentioned that I should consider the Lexus ISO seats. Are these recommended? Should these be purchased directly from the Lexus dealers? (I am looking for seat up to 3 years) Thanks, Sami
