  1. Just read that, dont know where they got those figures from (mid air probably) total rubish, Yes it does accelerate quickly and thats about it. Have a test drive yourself and see what you think, as for 35MPG in there dreams.
  2. Hi all, had my test drive in the New GS450h today, I lasted just 60 mins and had to get out. The roads were wet and the handling on tight bends and roundabouts was scary, twiching and jumpy slides about, and this was not pushing it. Acceleration is good but much engine noise, seats uncomfortable ( not enough adjustment) Sat nav will NOT accept verbal or other commands whilst moving!!!!! Economy averaged 38MPH did not go over any speed limit and got 24.5MPG, now thats crap. Boot space!!!! NONE. Sorry big none starter.
  3. :tsktsk: This is exactly the responce I got with my "Lexus concerns" a flat negative. They don't do discounts and wont budge when an obvious problem arises. Time to change manufacturers I think, trouble is you loose so much money as trade values are all other dealerships will offer. Build quality IS AN ISSUE of late, why I don't know!, the wheels are very poorly finished and they are well aware of this. The paint quality "chip-wise" is very poor and this too they are very well aware of, but NO remedy. These gearboxs are in need of software upgrading. It could be that in the USA (where the main bulk of sales are)the complaint levels are low or the americans are easyer to fob off. Here in UK they are trying to increase sales, seems to me the PR is all wrong. Time to cut your loses?
  4. The bigger the discount they give the more the cars depreciate...so I for one understand why they dont give massive discounts. That was an impressive amount off the A8..... Fergy, I had to scour the UK for a good while for the deal I got on the A8 4.2, I only lost 3K on the 3.0TDI A8 I have PXed, and I still get to drive it until september. Not bad Aye. :) I lost more in 3 months PXing the RX300SE for the GS300SE than I have after one year with the A8.
  5. I just traded my Sept 2003 Cherokee 3.7 LTD (mint condition less than 17k on the clock) for a RX300 LE. At first I was offered £9500 after a week dealer came back and after a little will you take this, no, well how about this much, I managed to get over £12500. :) Hopefull thats a good price for a 53 plate (september) you did well, but you know the new 350 model will knock down your re-sale value of the 300LE but just keep it a couple of years and go negotiate again. :winky:
  6. LS430 I was offered this car top of the range adaptive criuse ect for the sum of 45K, thats a 57K car ( at least) for 45K, New model on it's way (460) I turned it down though, got 20% off a new (in september) audi 4.2 A8 TDI fully speced up with full sports options, + pax system run flat 19" wheels ect, ect, retail 64K my price £51200 and thats on order for september. Lexus do not like discounting and consequently dont sell many cars. :D
  7. :tsktsk: Michael, I found the service from LGB to be way below my expectations, consequently dumping lexus altogether, I hav'nt looked back, the alloy wheel issue and paint quality were my complaints, never properly resolved. They had to almost re-spray a new RX300SE for me, that killed the new car feeling, and I could not get that "new car feeling" back with lexus.suggest if you don't get this sorted you do the same, insist as I did that they offer you an excellent price to "take it off your hands". The RX300 is a poor seller they are not selling many, can't see the point of bringing out anther 350 model as this clearly will not sell either.
  8. It all depends on the "range" that they take the shot at you. Between 100/200 mtrs the cone from the laser is very narrow and fired at the numberplate will NOT hit the windscreen, therefore will not activate the RA2. Longer snapshots the beem will be "broader" but of course there pictures are crap. hence them "hiding round corners". If your RA2 gives you an audable laser warning You've already been done. Other means of protection are required. PiP: It's not "a crock of S**t" it is very good at what it's designed for, and thats pointing out fixed camera sites and specs/gatsos/travelos an the like. When your driving outside your area you need to know just which corner these scameras are hiding round, RA2 does the job :winky:

  10. Marcus, they should replace the condencer and re-gas, change all filters and purge, and check air intake areas for crap. This should clear it.
  11. Nfernandes, you were lucky to get out of that mate. I hope you take all the evidence accumilated on this web site to back-up your case, best regards J :tsktsk:
  12. Out of interest do you know the Lexus colour name for my car, its the silver pearl colour. Cheers Jon Hi Jon palladio silver is the colour you are talking about :winky:
  13. The mrs has a 1 series diesel and gets 52 to the gallon which makes me a bit sick. :D . Dude, you can't go comparing a GS300 Sport to a 1 series diesel in terms of fuel economy. Chalk and cheese. :duh: To be honest, if you wanted a biggish car with amazing economy, you are best off getting a Mondeo TDCi 130 or a Vectra 1.9 CDTi 150 (but manual, the auto versions are pants). I've driven so many modern diesels, and quite frankly they only shine when cruising on motorways. That's where the GS makes life comfy, it's effortless to drive it around town. I considered buying a 2 year old Mundano, which would have been far more economical to run, than a 7 year old GS. However, a Lexus really pampers you, it makes you feel special. Don't you just love the looks on passenger's faces when they see the steering wheel retract once pulling the key out? I find it's all the small things that make the GS a pleasure to own. The Xenon lights are wonderful, the engine is creamy smooth, the gearbox shifts well, the speedo dials are cool, and the centre armrest is just so comfy and well placed. Best of all, it's got excellent cupholders - what more do you need in life??? :D Not too sure Lexus and LPG go together well. Haven't heard of many conversions. Someone else on here might be able to help. How many miles a year do u normally do? Mondeo, pile of Crap. i've got the new 3.0TDI A8 superchipped to 281BHP, and pisses over ANY lexus including the GS430 with 30 MPG +, i've now ordered for september the new 4.2TDI A8 and in stock trim will cover 0-60 in 5.6, again 30 MPG. :winky:
  14. I did think the range was inaccurate, I have come from a e46 325 BM to a GS300 and the range readout on the BM is constantly updating the range figure, so if you are easy on the gas the range figure goes up and down if you are pushing on. The MPG on the GS is crap compared to the BM which had a 6 cylinder engine also. I seem to be visiting the petrol station a lot more than I am used to, the best average MPG I have had in the GS is 27 and that was taking it rather easy on the motorway. I am yet to fill the GS to the brim so dont know what it will take to fill it and how many miles I will get from a completely filled tank. What can I expect from the above ? I dont know if I am regretting buying a Lexus and wonder how long I will keep it for. I really do like it but just wish it was a bit cheaper to run. :( Someone tell me I shouldn't be regretting buying my GS !!!!!! I bought mine when they first came out thinking I would get "fairly good economy" but I did not so I outed it, can't beat diesel mate. :winky:
  15. Yeah, you can have a head on collision whilst programming your next destination...with the angels :D NOT with the Audi buddy all done by "voice command" :winky:
  16. While I had mine (3 months) it was so poor on consumption I never let it get that far. :duh:
  17. Having said that, the satnav in the GS is so much better than the Merc satnav, to be honest, the satnav in my 2002 IS is better than the 2005 Merc we have . Well I found the Lexus Sat-Nav crap, you can't use it on the move, audi system far better.
  18. It would seem in some areas, Lexus are not selling well and staff are being layed off. Sad eh.
  19. Garage door opener does the trick, one mile or two makes no difference.
  20. TonyUK, I took my GS300SE 2005 (new shape) with corrosion on the wheels, back to the stealers at 3.5K, they said it was stone chipped and were NOT prepaired to replace them, this along with other niggles ( poor fuel economy) pushed me to out the car, luckily did not loose as much as I would have buying another lexus. I have not seen "stone chipped wheels" without stone chips on the front of the car.!! These cars seem to "stone chip" quicker than any new car I have ever owned. Paint quality is an issue with these cars, along with poor wheel finish quality, I went into the dealership complaining about the wheels only to find engineers from the main company in japan over inspecting the alloy wheeels on the cars in the showroom, they mensioned to me what I thought could be contributing to the loss of finish. I said, poor paint quality and lack of laquering on the inside of the wheels was not helping and of course the salt administered to the british roads will find the lack of laquer on the inside of the wheel. I wonder if the quality control will be tightened up on the wheels now. :winky: Well rant over :shutit:
  21. SJT, who did your convertion and how much boot space have you lost? :)
  22. Are you absolute sure ? I though about buying GS450h. But if this is true, I will rather wait for the GS460. Yes I got my info First hand from a main agent , it's the last paragraph (it would be would it not) boot space reduced to 280 from 450, so can't fit much in it. The vauxhall Marano VXR 6.0 lytre is what I was keen on, same boot problem, moved the fuel tank into the centre of the boot for safety legislation, consequently NO space for any thing other than 1 case!!!!!!!!!
  23. You can try this site, some greatinfo there. www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php
