  5. Hi Does anybody know where I can obtain the centre Logo for LS400 MKIV standard alloy wheels I have two missing think they may have been removed by some towrag as they both appear to have been lost at the same time, too much of a coincidence MJM 444
  6. Hi Seems I am the oldest so far at 74 - a good head of hair and could lose a few pounds MJM 444
  7. The LS430 is deffo 100k miles, but don't know the time limit - at a guess i would say 10 years based on 12k a year I'd be interested in what the book time is for the job - it looks relatively easy - the front of the engine looiks to have pretty clear access I think its around 5.5 hours loads of gear has to come off. took my mate who is very handy with the spanners a day Hi all Further to my info in Post 9 I took my 1998 LS400 Mk IV in for service to ROYs in Norwich today "A" Service inc Toyota synthetic SW-30 engine oil Renew batteries to 2 ignition keys - first in at least 5 years Refix front headlight washer nozzle Total cost inc. £10.00 repeat customer discount £139.09 inc VAT. They also drove my wife, self and transportable mobility scooter into central Norwich and picked us up for return to garage when vehicle service complete (3hrs) - at no cost. I think this service and price speaks for itself. Yours MJM444
  8. As I stated in posting above the B service is the large service (Every 27000 miles) and the A service the smaller one (Every 9000 miles) I would suggest you phone ROYS also when phoning dealers and ask for a quote to prove my figures bearing in mind they are 36 and 18 months ago. - I have copies of the invoices to substatiate my figures. Yours MJM444
  9. I'm pretty sure the mkIV is 90k as well. Don't believe everything the Lexus Stealer tells you :) Hello There Sorry I gave you wrong information my service with cam belt was August 06 not eighteen months ago Cost was Replace Cam belt. a B Service, replace spark plugs Renew Brake Pads all round - Labour £360.00 + VAT Cost of Parts including 8 Iridium Spark plugs at 8.00 each Timing Belt and Brake Pads - £300.00 i.e Total Bill = £660.00 plus VAT. total £773.00 N.B. Note the "B" Service is the largest Service I had a "A" Service eighteen months ago (Feb 2008) and the cost was £78.00 plus oil etc. total £130.00 with VAT I'm booked in for an "A" service next week. N.B. my average mileage is only 5.000 per annum -i.e 1998 MK IV only 65,000 on clock Hope this helps MJM 444 P.S. Don't have an MOT there as they sub it out and charged £50.00 I can get it local for £25.00.
  10. Have a day out in Norwich and get your service and cambelt change done at ROYS - 01603 424877 - an ex Lexus agent it will be at less than half the price and a first class job - I know as I had the same service and cam belt change carried out on my Mk IV eighteen months ago - he does offer a free courtesy car - not neccesarilly a Lexus. MJM444
  11. Definetly recommend ROYS less than half price of Lexus stealers and also a free courtesy car to have look around the area whilst waiting for vehicle
  12. I assume by taking the battery out you do not lose the code - also does anybody know the battery replacment product number
  13. Hi What is the procedure for replacing the battery in a 3 button ignition key for my 1998 Mk IV LS400 - I have a duplicate as well Cheers MJM444
  14. I did a silly thing a couple of days ago I caught the side of my Lexus LS400 MKIV on the side of the garage whilst garaging the vehicle Luckily it has not caused any damage to the paint work as it caught the plastic track of the electric doors but has pushed the wing panel in and now I cannot open the front passenger door more than a couple of inches as the leading edge of the door fouls the panel I've tried pulling the panel out with a suction pad with no avail Can you get behind the double skin of this panel to push it out it's gone in about a I/4 inch Any advice would be appreciated to save an expensive job at the local body builders. Cheers MJM444
  15. I had the same problem and it came down to a dodgy brake light bulb in the rear cluster
  16. My garage has an electric door, too, but I am too modest to mention it here. I'm not too modest to say I have an electric door opener and a traffic light gadget on the far wall to indicate if the Lexus is too near the wall and I automatically garage the car after a trip MJM444

  19. Further to my enquiry re length of service from a cam belt on a LS 400 - I have trawled through the American Lexus Club site . - 128 pages over 2 years - and have not seen one instance when a club member has reported a broken cam belt - there are some cases in the USA where instances of replacing a cam belt on a 1990 LS for the first time at 150K have been reported. I would add I have no intention of testing that theory. Hi there I dont know where this post came from on the 22nd Feb but I certainly did not post it and deny all knowledge of it MJM 444 Yeah that was 3 years ago though..... 22nd feb 2005.... remember it now? Pete Hi Pete Yes sorry I did not remember my post over 3 years ago I suppose I must have made it but I wonder my I refered to a 1990 model which does not have the same problems as the MkIV if the cam belt goes - I had my cam belt renewed at 45,000 after 7 years Cheers MJM444

  21. I recommend Roys I was charged approx £200 inc VAT for a LS400 cambelt change last year - I had a free loan car from them and had a trip out to Gt Yarmouth for the day - always found Roys first class MJM444
  22. Hi There You should check that your rear brake light bulbs are working okay and not blown as this sometimes operates the brake warning light - I had this problem some time ago and a new bulb solved the fault MJM 444
  23. Hi there It would be interesting to know the mileages recorded on Club members LS 400s i.e. lowest and the highest My vehicle is only used on high days and holidays i.e. LS400 MkIV first registered in March 1998 2 owners and has 57300 recorded miles i.e approx 6000 per year dont suppose this is the lowest but I would be particularly interested to know any lower and the highest figures on record obviously going back to a Mk I which I would imagine would be quite high being up to 18years old. MJM 444
  24. Hi all Has anybody any information regarding refurbishing of standard LS400 1998 Alloy wheels and if there are any specialists in the March, Cambridgeshire area as all 4 of mine need attention as the original laquer is defective - Thanks.
  25. Hi The problem is that there's no slack to add. When I tested it, I had to pull my tummy in to take the pressure off the clasp sufficient to release it. Comments appreciated fella's Steve Hi Steve If all else fails you can purchase a small plastic gadget which can be put on the belt where it enters to retract and the gadget has a locking mechasism after adjusting the belt to a comfortable fit to stop it retracting further I used them when taking elderly patients to the hospital who found the tightness of the belts restrictive. I had them for years so I dont know where they were purchased but I know they were less than a £1 each Yours MJM444 Hi Steve This is what I had in mind on the web site below although the ones I have seem less sophisticated Mike http://www.seatbelttensionadjuster.com/about.html
