  1. triple checked, s/c is not turning, pulley on the front is but the internals are not. it seems that the cover does more though, the main pulley turns and there is the cover on the front (not turning), between the two is another metal area which also does not turn - the main bolt in the front also does not turn. It seems from looking that the three screws on the front don't hold on the plastic cover at all (the central bolt does this) - it seems that the three screws are what connects the pulley to the shaft for drive - any comments on this?

if ur talking about the 3 little screws that hold the black plastic cover on  then these are not the drive connection for the SC,  they just hold the cover on and would  not support more load than a rubber band.

are u 100% that the sc is not turning??  if u move the bypass valve with the engine running u should get a drastic change is sound out of the SC, if u do it is turning.  It may be that one of the hoses has come loose - sometimes easy to see sometimes not, or the  belt tensioner has come loose,  if they are all tight then it looks like it is something a bit more serious.

ps also check that the bolts holding the drive pulley on the waterpump are still there!

  2. nope, was driving normally on approach to traffic lights, then on pull away from lights it was gone. there are 3 screws on the front plate, 2 were missing and the 3rd was hanging out, so hopefully just the screws worked loose over time and last one went at the traffic lights. i guess its fine to drive home tonight then since its not going to be doing any damage.

damn, anything bad happen b4 that?

from what i understand that damper also acts as a break point shoud there be a problem.

it shears internaly at a pre set load of resistance to stop any damage to the engine mounted pully etc i think.

so as to isolate it to prevent any further damage.

might be your first point of call

  3. 5 minutes before getting to work this morning had a big drop in power - basically supercharger not boosting any more. Took a look under the bonnet and the damper on front of the pulley has no screws in it anymore - and it seems that when the pulley turns the SC is not spinning internally. To fix this is it a simple matter of screwing the damper back on? And if I leave it as is for the drive home (5 miles) will it do any damage?

  4. Minimum I can get away with - thats why the defender is tempting! Probably some sort of direct relationship between car cost and bedroom fun though :(, so defender not so good on those grounds.

They've got some cool cars Gord, thinking about it a RHD F150 pulled up alongside us in Stockport and I never twigged!

Big engines like that are what SC's are designed for!

What sort of budget are you looking at Kieron (sorry mate not sure if that's the right spelling...)

  5. Should have added second hand - not buying her a new car that costs more than mine!

Hmm .... well if your looking @ those sort of cars ....... then I would imagine that cash is not an object ?

Out of those ......... I'd go for the BMW X5 4.4I Sport  :D

I also LOVE ........ the new Range Rover Sport !

  6. She wants something thats a bit chunky etc.. so no to the RX. Ford Lightning or Dodge RAM would be good actually but LHD is not great for London.

I'd have to go with a Ford Lightning or the Harley Davidson truck, but probably miles away from what she's looking for!

You're not thinking of the RX then mate?

  7. Excellent meet - thanks to all the organisers. My first track day and definately want to go again - strongly recommend going as a driver or passenger if you get the opportunity since its a great day out.

Once again, thanks to the organisers.

  8. We are seeing a lot of people in LOC getting cars stolen recently (maybe more than you'd expect) - is there anything on the forum where a would be theif could see peoples addresses - a site like this makes a great shopping list for cars.

  9. The worst thing about this scheme is if you forget to pay and then remember. On 3 seperate occasions I've forgotten to pay, realised the next morning and phoned to try and pay - they won't accept payment next day so you get the big fines even though you're trying to pay it.

  10. damn, sorry to see this, hope it works out ok. certainly seems like you were lucky since a few feet further forward looks like it could have been a lot worse. what sort of speed was other driver doing?

the police officer commented how lucky i was to be in a lexus! he said that if i had been in a fiesta or something then things would have been so much worse. he even commented how it was such a shame that a rep mobile had ruined my baby

  11. Generally happens when the engine is cold, catalytic converter not warmed up fully and ECU detects emmissions problem, flags as error in ECU, if the same error code is thrown a certain number of times (twice I think - correct me if I'm wrong) then the ECU does the track blinking, engine warning light thing and you need to pull the fuses to get rid of it.

If you have to floor the accelerator to get a response, the car is in "get you home" mode, my car does this every month or so, to fix that one problem....

eh????? u cant be serious? really ? why does it do that????

    Made me think as well

  12. If you have to floor the accelerator to get a response, the car is in "get you home" mode, my car does this every month or so, to fix that one problem....

    open fuse box in bonnet

    remove 20A ECTS fuse

    remove 15A trac fuse

    remove 20A ECU fuse

    wait a few seconds

    put all the fuses back

Car should now respond to throtle input normally. i've done it so many times now its second nature - one warning, don't drop the fuses - I dropped one once and it took me about 15 minutes to get it back out of the engine bay.
