  1. thanks!

so they should go on the back with minimal problems!

but will i be able to get them on the front, as they don't have 8's only 8.5's.

i dont care if they rub on the arch's cause as you said that can be fixed!!! as long as they don't rub the brakes im cool!

    thanks all for your help!!!!

    J. :D :D :D

8.5 +37 on front I'm not so sure. This post on is300.net has some useful info and pics... 19 x 8.5 +45 front, 19 x 9.5 +45 rear. With +37 you'll be 8mm further out than the IS in these pics....

    http://www.is300.net/forums/showthread.php?t=210167

Compared to standard http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html, standard is 7 +45mm, 8.5 +37mm. Over current settings this will be 11mm less clearance on inside (fine), 27mm less on outside - not so sure about this, 27mm is a lot on the front.

  2. pictures of the wheels can be found here:

    www.gruppe-s.com/Advan/advantc2.htm

really want them, but can i get them to fit?

    J.

    I have 18 x 8 +37 on the front - fits fine (225 x 40 x 18). 18 x 8.5 +41 on the rear (245 x 40 x 18). The front is fine, the rear rubs slightly, rolling the rear arches will fix the back.

Lower offset will stick out more so you will rub arches at some point - this is easier to fix that rubbing on the suspension, brakes etc...

When trying wheels on my car the garage had 19 x 10 +55 on the back, this clears the arch without tyres but would have needed a bit of work with fat tyres on. My car is lowered although not sure how much, its about half of maximum drop on HKS Hiper Dampers.

  3. If it is of any interest, we have sold 9 stage 1 conversions over the last couple of years and have not seen or heard about any engine failures or any other problems yet, but the support technology that goes with the conversion is of no small magnatude or expense.

All stage 1 owners are now searching for wood to touch with this comment, fortunately my desk at work is wood some I'm alright.....

  4. Can you not do a diagnostics check on the engine?

Unfortunately my fix of resetting the ECU wiped the fault code log.

i'm pretty sure you can still get at the codes until reset by an OBD2 reader, i'm almost 100% sure that i've reset error codes (by pulling fuses) and TDi have still been able to look at them using their reader

  5. It was very embarassing but my Lexus actually broke down in a drive-in McDonalds. It lost almost all power and all I could do was pull forward a metre or so before it would die completely. Starting it over and over again I managed to get out to the carpark but couldn't get into a space because there was a slight incline until someone helped me push it.

I figured as restarting the engine wasn't clearing what-ever problem there was perhaps resetting the ECU would so I pulled the EFI and ECTS fuses for a few seconds and that sorted it. It's been fine since and that was nearly a week ago.

Lexus could find nothing wrong with it.

I'd been crawling along in a traffic jam on the M4 for 2 hours then blasted it once got to a clear patch so dunno if that was something to do with it.

Anyone else had anything like this?

Managed to loose the fuse tool in the bottom of the engine bay too. :duh: bamboo cane and blue tac sorted that out though.

Did you have any check engine lights?

  6. haven't read any of them but had to leave work at lunch, buy the book (£20.00) and take home for my girlfriend since she's been waiting ages for this to come out - she's got all 7 now - all in hardback since she wants them when they first come out. £140.00 on books - could've had some nice car stuff for that

  7. Yep, I ordered it as an option when I bought the car, so Lexus sent it off to Connoly who did the full leather before it was delivered.

Which dealer was that? When I asked if there was full leather available, they said buy an IS300!

Lexus ParkLane - I ordered the car new back in August 99, delivered October 99 so it was a long time ago.

  8. Fantastic mate, very nice indeed :)

Is that the water cooler pipe sticking out the front grille?

If I can get mine anywhere near the state of yours I'll be a happy man!

Those alloys are nice, suit the car very well - they kind of remind me of GRiM's alloys too in a way even though they're different - work that one out

Pipe on the front is nitrous purge spraying onto the intercooler.

"If I can get mine anywhere near the state of yours I'll be a happy man!" - you wouldn't say that if you could look closely and see all the little bumps and scratches on the bodywork...!

  9. Sorry boys and girls, I know this has been done before, but I thought I'd just try and tap the font of knowledge that is this forum.

My IS came with Bridgestone RE 040 fitted. These will need changing soon. My local tyre fitter has Michelin Pilot Sport going cheap (much cheaper than the best price I can find for the 040's being on Blackcircle.com).

Does anyone use these? Are they good / bad?

    Iain

Black circle seemed really over priced to me, try www.mytyres.co.uk

  10. parcel force are the worst service around. i got charged 25.76 for an $80 item. thats outrageous.. use Fedex or the like. Fedex will ship the item and then invoice you. parcel farce won't deliver it until you pay....trying to get hold of them is impossible - the phone is always engaged.

my option of parcel force :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk:
