  1. my IS will be due for it first MOT in July, would you guys say a Lexus dealer the best place to get it MOT or a Local MOT station, the reason i ask is i got so many mods on my car, SC,Fcon, Tein coilover, Piaa Blubs, JDM Headlight, de-cats etc etc, am bit worry if the car fail it MOT, what do they check normally anyway? i was thinking about Lexus Leeds, but not sure if they MOT the car at their site or elsewhere (dont want them to drive my car around Leeds that for a start,)...or shall i goto the local MOT station where i can see them doing the test?

I took my car to local MOT place last year, no problems at all. Will be taking it back next week for second MOT. Last year passed without any problems at all although did need to be warmed up a lot for the emissions test - passed with 0.13 in the end.

  2. Just got back from having my short knobby thing fitted.

    Verdict wicked.

You will be able to spot all quick shifters they will have well devepoed left arm muscles !!

little extra noise due to comparitive lack of insultaion but really positive

the insulation on mine was the same, no extra noise at all - other than my screaming in pain while changing gear

  3. The Monster actually moves under it's own steam now :o

There are some issues regarding the starting and warm up mapping, and of course the main mapping, but otherwise it's almost there.

Just needs more time spent on it, which is a rare commodity at TDi Towers at the moment

a steam powered IS, now thats an interesting idea

  4. though you may need a bit of extra time in the gym to get in reverse!!

    Lol :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

i went out for about 3 hours in the car today. i swear the bicep on my left arm is twice the size it was this morning. its certainly sore........

  5. I've only driven my car for about an hour with it on but its great, shift is much, much better. Reverse is a bit of an adventure and my girlfriend can't drive it anymore (another plus this one). Fitting is really easy, took about 30 minutes total, limited tools required (10mm hex, 4mm allen key), instructions are easy to follow. Ignore the bit on the box that says 2000 and up for the fitting, it fits 1999 as well so I'd guess it would fit all years and Altezza too.

  6. Hi guys

Sometimes ive had the same problem and i'll tell you what i think it is,make sure the ignition switch/barell is fully anticlock wise when you pull the key out as sometimes it sticks and it will not let you lock the doors using the plip as it thinks the key is still in the ignition obviously.Try turning ignition on off a few timesand see how you get on,should cure problem!!!!!! :D :D

hmm, that could be it, this is what i did:

unlocked car on button to get wallet

    got wallet,

wanted to know time so put key in ignition turned on to check time and then off and took key out

    got out of car

    woulnd't lock on button

  7. Took car to dealer today, changed batteries on keys - no luck. Tried to reprogram car - won't accept any programming so something dodgy going on with control unit. To replace is going to be around 1300!! Anyone know where its located so I can make sure its not just a loose connection or anything that can be fixed easily. If not i'll just leave it, not paying 1300 to get it fixed, way too expensive.

  8. Going to be on topic and semi on topic here.

1 - bought the quick**** today, will post pics later

2 - got the TDi Stage 1, done about 12K miles on it without problem - other than wrecking the clutch and manifold bolts coming loose once (fixed by TDi for free)

There is a TDi stage 1 in the dominican republic I think (can't remember 100% if thats where the guy was from but think so).

  9. dave, steve, who you insured with,, DIG cant find anyone to insure me on the 300 WITH s/c or t/c let alone nos

    Try greenlight insurance brokers 01277263030

the actual insurance company is Highway insurance top firm !

actually I've phoned round them all ..........warning them about you !! my cunning plan to remain faster :whistling:

yep tried them 1500 also WITHOUT any mods

looks like its time to go back to the IS200. i've got one to swap if you're interested ;)

  10. Dont like autos.

Get an IS300 and convert to manual - get a gearbox from the US :P

bet that conversion would be a pig................

better import the IS300 manual from the US & convert to RHD :driving:

there seem to be several people doing the AT to MT swap themselves, there are some posts on IS300.net listing all the parts and how you do it so it doesn't seem to be that hard.

  11. Unlocked the car with the remote, no problems, then went to lock the car and the key doesn't work, tried my spare keys too and no luck. Seems like the car has forgotten the keys (read some other threads about this), will go to dealer to get it fixed but does anyone know where the receiver is that needs to be changed - want to make sure that nothing in the car is in the way of the receiver for when they look at it.

  12. any one fitted one ?

how does it fit with the boot side liners

will they need to be butchered

or is a nice neat slot

    or even removed

and what about the ski hatch (not that i ever intend going skiing in it)is it still operationable after fitting the brace

any one got any pics of one fitted

    "cough cough" keiran

slots need to be butchered into the boot side liners, and no more skiing i'm afraid

  13. Kieran I did look into the Zex kit's when it was introduced to me from Yemgi.

However, They were not proven back then, I do not know how reliable they are nor shared any real experiences with the Zex stuff.

In comparison, Dave has the same kit I just brought and he has had many trouble free miles from it.

That to me is more then enough to justify it's a good reliable kit, built well ( If installed well ) which Dave's kit is.

Plus on the up side... There are more and more dealers selling the Kit I have brought then the Zex kits as for technical support etc.... Thats why I chose this system..

Just my 2 pence worth. Someone will probally come along and prove me wrong one day ...perhaps.

I have also recently read a report not so good on the Zex kit... Can forward you this if you wish.

I'd be interested in seeing the report if you can find it. I'm not really sure if the Zex kit would work in the IS200 anyway, it requires a vacuum ported fuel pressure regulator - anyone know what this is? and does the IS have one??

Are you planning to install the kit yourself? If so a workshop article would be great!

  14. SAGA dave....im lost..

thanks Keiran,, but i think i really will need some dimensions, so that i can take the drawings to tdi and ask them if it will fit..

They should be able to work it out from the pictures, the manifold has a mounting for a T04 turbo, should be able to make a good guess at the other dimension from that.

    lg_isturbo3.jpg

I'd say from the mounted picture that the heatshield for the turbo will be in the way, the turbo itself looks ok but close, the down pipe will be close again.

  15. Hi Dave..

    Welcome me to your Club.

I have just secured a purchase for my Nos kit.

Same make of kit as yours .. Thanks for testing it for me :)

11lb silver bottle, 50bhp jets, mini max progressive controller, goodridge braded hosing for nos lines etc..

See you in my rear view mirror Paul :D

    Just to add...

I purchased my kit from Mark at MD Autostyling. The whole thing went smoothly and Mark offers some smashing deals and is very technical minded.

Judging from seeing Dave's install. I am going to install this kit myself and let you know the results, I have many pointers from Dave already and have a special frabrication company I am going to use for something special...

    Will post up pictures soon..

What made you decide on this kit rather than a kit from one of the bigger names (e.g. Zex?) I'm considering a Zex wet-kit (can get one - new for 300 pounds) with the bottle bracket 50 extra:

  16. lol,  i think anything will beat mine at the moment,

just you wait stevie boy,, just you wait....  oh and as for an auto box.. well theres valve body upgrade things,,

and a High stall torque converter ;)

    hmm i like that...err whatever it is..lol.

now if only i can get my hands on some tech drawings for the US spec turbo manifolds..

Not technical drawings but you can get a good idea from these pictures:

  17. I know not a lot about Engine internals Dave..

What does this all mean ?

How much does this all cost ?

Who will bore them out ?

How much to fit all these new mod's ?

Is there a guarantee these new components will all work and compute correctly first time round ?

No guarantee for sure, no tuners give guarantees, if it blows up or goes wrong you're on your own - sensible really since you are pushing the limits of the design of a component so if it goes wrong its probably not the tuners fault.
