  1. Hi all, I had an issue with my 2013 is300h causing my air con to delay start while running some diagnostics in the background when I try to turn on the vehicle. This wasn’t the end of the world and was happy to live with it but then the cold air became warm. I was told the Gad needed to be recharged and so I brought it to have this done in a local auto air con specialist. He was happy to tell me it was holding Gad but there seemed to be another issue and they continued to diagnose for an hour and half. Then he came to me saying that they found the issue, the air conditioning amplifier. I got a replacement part and brought it back to the him. They then fitted it and explained it still didn’t resolve the issue and that they would need the vehicle for 24 hours. It now has a new error when started: ‘Check Grille Shutter System’ This error keeps popping up after you clear it, so it is pretty annoying. So, I have the replacement amplifier fitted and I would like to try the old one, just to see if it will get me back to the original issue, of just the diagnostics check and not the ‘Check Grille Shutter System’ I am finding it really hard to be without the car for a day as I have school runs to drop/collect three kids. Does anyone know the location inside the car of the Air Conditioning Amplifier, so that I can swap back to the original part? many thanks in advance
  2. So I gave my IS250 an interior clean last week and came to find that there was loads of water in the spare wheel well! Removed the grommets and managed to drain all of it but now concerned of where the source of the water ingress is? Last night checked my amp (ML audio system if it matters) and found some moisture around that area but the amp itself looked dry. After some googling found that there's a vent besides the bumper where water comes in from but haven't done more checks for that. I removed 2 of the grommets in the spare wheel well to aid with water drainage in the future but is there any way to protect my amp from moisture?
  3. Hi all, I recently bought a Lexus is220d model without navigation. I have a problem with sound there is no volume function but the radio works, I checked all fuses and they are all good, but I don't have an amp in the trunk. Can anyone tell me which amp should I buy and where to find it? I will put some pics in the attachment. Thank you in advance.
  4. Hi Quick question. Is it possible to run a sub woofer with preamp off of the original stereo and amp? Thanks, Leon
  5. The car's a 2004 GS430 (as in my avatar), with the usual Mark Levinson stereo & satnav system. One morning the battery had gone flat (cause: totally unrelated to the hifi, and later solved by me), and I used a portable battery to jump-start the car. From that time on, there's been no sound from the hifi (irrespective of source - radio, CD, tape). Sound had been working perfectly, right up to the point I switched off the engine the previous night, so it is hard to escape the cause->effect linkage. The CD apparently plays, as does the tape, and the radio apparently tunes just like before. But, there's no sound at all from the speakers. When I press the Audio button on the head unit, all controls like "Bass", "Treble" and "Front/Rear--Left/Right Balance" appear greyed out on the display. These three pics show what I see: Note the greyed-out controls in the last photo. So, the computer knows that something is wrong. I've now checked and double-checked all the fuses. As the helpful Tigerfish had pointed out, these are in different locations, including the passenger side footwell. All the fuses are fine. The CD changer is in the back of the glovebox. The satnav DVD unit is in the boot, and the power amplifier is below it. Everything was original/factory-installed, not after-market. The closest I've found to this problem is this discussion: http://www.justanswe...navigation.html where the poster seems to be describing the same fault. The advice he's given is that it is probably a blown amplifier, he didn't come back to the thread so I don't know if it was resolved. Almost the same thing is found here: http://www.clublexus...with-radio.html where the reference is to the "infamous ML amp" striking again.. :( A Lexus dealer indicated the price for a new amplifier from Lexus is probably half of what my car itself is worth. They said they thought it was a faulty amp (but - stress - couldn't be certain). I can get an amplifier from the USA (via ebay) for about a quarter of its "new" price, salvage from a scrapped 2001-4 GS300/GS430 fitted with the Mark Levinson stereo. I would make sure that the part number matched up. But what if the problem wasn't the amplifier but instead something in the head unit/console? The ebay sale would have been final (i.e., no returns), of course. Should I take the chance and order a replacement amp? Some clear advice would be very gratefully accepted - thanks in advance!
  6. Hi Forum readers, I wonder if anyone has come across this problem before? Recently my radio stopped working even though all the visuals were working but when I pressed the sound icon in audio section it could not be adjusted. A couple of days later my battery went flat and the AA came out and checked it and I needed a new battery although the alternator charge tested fine. With the new battery fitted the radio started working again. However, since then every so often the radio loses sound again and if I disconnect and reconnect the battery it starts working. Does anyone have an idea what may be causing this and a possible remedy. Thanks
  7. Hello there! My name is Bruce and I am new in the forum! (here is my presentation post: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/85047-new-member-with-is200/ ) The reason of this post is to investigate a little more about the audio system. Ive investigate this forum and also the my.is (USA) to get wiring diagrams an general info about the sound system. The OEM head unit is faulity so I bought a Sony 1DIN Stereo. Looking for the wiring diagrams i have the 8 speaker system and the power amplifier. I heard about the harness adaptor but I want to do it my self (mostly beacuse almost nobody en Ebay ships to Argentina ) So I discovered that the head unit comunicates with the audio amplifier by sending 4 audio signals with common ground (like audio RCA outputs) and also two digital signals TX+ TX- for fadding operation. and a MUTE cable The thing is i wired my unit like i stated above (not conection the tx cables neither the mute cable) but the amp wont turn on.. or show any signs of life. I dont understand the criteria of how this amp turns on and off. They are powered by the same fuses of the head unit so I assume it always turn on when you turn the key in ACC. Saddly i want to use the amplifier to avoid changing the rear speakers... and i am stuck here with the amp not funcioning and a new stereo + fascia that wont work... Can anybody help me with some advice to turn alive this old tech. and bring music to my car? :zee: Thanks in advance!! Best Regards. Bruce..
