An update on my situation......my own fault really but brought the Lexus as a non runner and told it was immobliser but it's actually head gasket!!! Had it taken to garage and they told me its going to cost a grand!!! Ouch!!! Needs shimming, new valves, new cam belt, new coolant tank etc but pistons are fine!!! After trying to sell it for spares and breaking on ebay with no joy I have had a complete change of heart!.........rented me a garage and am going to use it as a project car and modify it slowly but surely! I wanna do it the justice it Lexus IS 200 deserves as it is the love of my life lol!!! Want to get about 300 bhp but not sure what the best option for me is as the above problems are a problem....... Seen some clever people on the forums and would like some advice etc

Hi there, I really hope that someone here can help me or at least offer a crumb of comfort! I recently purchased a late 2007 Is220d. The fuel consumption was pretty poor, so after seeing the posts regarding the EGR valve decided to have a look. I first removed battery. The valve was blocked solid with soot which I cleaned out. I removed the valve to do this properly and used Wynns EGR3 professional to give it a good clean. The port on engine that valve sits on was also solid. I used a hoover and small scraper to remove all this and a tiny drop of the Wynns to finish. I then put it all back together and started engine. It ran for about 20 seconds - very roughly, and then stopped. I have since been unable to start it - although after about 5 attempts the battery was flat. My questions are these. 1. By removing battery, and I presume resetting engine settings - could this cause me a problem? 2. Would a relatively flat battery have caused a problem anyway.? 3. Why on earth would cleaning this valve cause such a problem? I have now taken battery out to recharge overnight and removed EGR valve to make sure that valve, pipe and port are thoroughly dry, although to be honest, I hardly used any of the Wynns on the engine part. Any advice would be very welcome please. I would also add that no alarms show up when I try to start it - it just says checks completed.

Hello, I have a question. I have a IS200 from the year 2000. Now i have a problem with it. While driving the engine is cutting out. My is200 has an automatic transmisstion. This problem only happens when i release the throttlepedal, and use the brakepedal, when slowing down for an intersection or a roundabout. The engine stops running and the car rolls slowely till it has no speed so i can put the gearbox in 'P' and i can start the engine immediately and continue driving. It only happens a few time a week. Has someone a good idea about what could be the problem Sorry for my english typing skills but i'm from the netherlands.
