  1. After having had the dreaded wheel wobble from a sticking caliper I replaced it with a patterned part from - EK Brakes Then a month after, replaced the other one !!! Only about £80 each, been on for many months, they work as they should £60 for a seal kit is an expensive (imo) and labour intensive task (all dependant on how servicable the pistons are, to fit a seal kit) So I went for the easy option, all good and glad I did
  2. New, and testimony from ex-mechanic, I can't tell the difference IMHO better than re-conditioning old calipers with seal kit As the pistons may well be pitted ... And for the same price of a seal kit anyway Makes financial sense (time & effort), and peace of mind
  3. I'm not the only one then :D As kickdown is just unnecessary and a tad aggressive imo So flick from D to 3 and quicker progress is effortless Not doing any harm, that's what it's for
  4. For all interested parties re: Brake calipers Had same problem with my 2001 46,000 mile IS It's a lot more aggressive than wheel balancing ! (checked hub/disc temp, but be careful, one will be much hotter than the other) Sourced locally, and coming in at £73 each :) From EK Brakes (they do post items out too) And I had to get both calipers, approx a month apart though !!! (so beware of the problem Martin, as the other side will be in a similar condition) Brakes work well, and happy it's all fixed now
  5. I'm another fan of the Falken FK452's Had 2 fitted on the front when it was in getting Geo set-up at drury Lane Instant improvement & feel on cornering Good value, good tyre, so i'm happy :)
  6. 46,670 miles on a 2001 SE Auto Plenty life left in it and doesn't feel like an 8 yr old car
  7. Oh Good, it's not just me then Here's my Lexus model, sits under my monitor Impressive Corgi Model 1/64 scale
  8. Could you explain 'Inboard shoes; The inboard shoes are conventional brake shoes for the handbrake inside the rear disc hub These may well be worn, or possibly slightly seized, as you mentioned it was noticable on start up.
  9. Spoke to my local garage chap today Caliper was from a local Motor Factors - Ek Brakes They do post items out too, hope this helps
  10. Just to add to this ... Same problem O/S/F Caliper seized Replaced (new) at Cost of £75 Seems the more cost effective option

  12. After e-mailing Tony at WIM for recommendations for a local Geometry set-up He gave me the link - Align My Car Closest place was Kendal, so only 60 mile round trip (as oppose to 300 miles each way to Tony @ WIM) left the car with them for 3 hours ... As soon as I picked the car up it felt tauter, steering much better, more direct Here's the before and after settings Huge thanks to Tony for the settings Money well spent, very pleased with results Justin
