  1. Thank you Britprius that has fully made my mind up to get a ordinary battery and save £200. And thanks to everyone who posted, I'm very grateful. Phil
  2. I thank you all for your time and helpful info. Whichever battery I go for I still have a question from my first post ie. a fused connected wire to the battery holder bracket which leads to the back of the batt where there's a white fixing holding it. My question is, is this white fixing a plug just holding the wire in place or another connector?. After reading lots of posts on this forum and a few from Lexus forum in USA, it appears that a normal 12v battery can be used with the only mod being the removal of the temperature monitor and taping it to the new battery, or is that white plug/connector need modding to fit?. From what I've read from the American site is that Lexus are playing the salesman bluffing game as all sales people do " their products are best ".
  3. I phoned Lexus Cardiff last week, £218 + vat = £260 ish 4 times the cost of a normal battery which has 70mah compared to 45 lexus batteries
  4. Good day all. The 12v battery on my GS450H has decided to give up. I have looked at the battery and noticed a number of connections and wires attached, on the left of the battery there's the Neg terminal, vent pipe and I believe the temperature sensor, then a fused connected wire to the battery holder bracket which leads to the back of the batt where there's a white fixing holding it. My question is, is this white fixing a plug just holding the wire in place or another connector?. I have seen Bosch, Exide batteries on the the web stating they will fit the GS450h but the measurement seems different from the one on mine, I have roughly measured mine without taking the battery out and there seems to be a small difference to those advertised. Has anybody else gone and changed their battery and if so, where did you buy yours?. Thank you for reading and hope for any help, getting desperate now.
  5. When going up Ben Nevis, what did you put on the tyres, chains or crampons ? ;))
  6. The sat nav in my 2002 ls430 is a total waste of space. I leave home in the S Wales valley heading inland and over a mountain but the piece of junk shows me in the middle of the Bristol channel, I reset it and minutes later shows me miles away from my current position. Thank god I've got a good sense of direction
  7. That african guy did'nt know what he was doing. These tory basket weavers know exactly what they are doing when they stick two fingers up to us
  8. Here's another site referring to CEO's of companies who you can complain directly to. Saga is listed but I don't know how up to date it is. No harm in trying. http://www.ceoemail.com/. Good luck
  9. Take a look at this sight http://www.police.uk/ put in the 2 postcodes and compare to see if the crime rate is any different between them.
  10. Try this. http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/info/my-lexus/resources/submit-owners-manual-search Hope it helps
  11. Hi everyone. Due to water ingress into the boot ( as stated in another thread ), a lot of the electrics were buggered including the fuse box relay on the n/s side which is totalled. Water was also all around the sat nav box and what I believe is the radio "box". As the radio & sat/nav are not working, I am thinking of fitting a single din slide out DVD, Sat/nav,Radio system in place of the cd player fitted, or a double din in place of the cd player and radio/tape player. Has anyone fitted one of these systems in the 430 as the local auto electrician recons it could be a nightmare to fit stating problems relating to the CANBUS wireing. Any feedback would be very welcome. Thanks Phil
  12. I can't thank everyone enough, very helpfull people. I will look tommorow at the drain tubes and pull the rubber seal. The panels on both sides of the boot are wet from top to bottom. As for "suffer a leaky rear end" i've only one word for that " PAMPERS " :)) Phil
  13. Hooray, found the door release and opened flap. Many thanks for all your help. Boo, wet all around it. Had a look around the rest of the boot and it's the same on the other side. The well where the sat nav sits is soaking, that might be the problem why the radio/sat nav failed. Maduggo suggested ( thank you ) it could be sun roof drains being blocked, would this cause this amount of ingress? if so ( sorry to be a pain ) where are they situated?. At first i was thinking it could be the main rubber seal like on the LS400s. I can't find any posts on this for the LS430. Phil
  14. Sorry for the delay in getting back, been away from PC. Thanks for the photo's, had another look but no joy. I will try and get the side panel off later today and see what's behind. I have to look to find where all the water is coming into the boot as I think that it's the cause with all the electric problems i'm having. I'll keep you informed. Once again, thanks to all for your help and suggestions. Phil
