Parking Sensors

Hi everyone,

I have a 2002 SC430 with parking sensors in the rear and front.

The system is now beeping/barking from time to time, and sometime constantly....extremely irritating! mad.gif

First of all, anyone who knows where the fuses for parking sensors are placed?

Second, how difficult is it to replace/loosen the sensor to start troubleshooting?

I think they are after market additions, I only have a poor (very quiet) set of rear ones on my 2002 SC, so you won't find them in the standard fuse boxes. If you decide to change them, tell us what you do as I may do the same :)

You think they are aftermarket?

Installed by Lexus then?

They have exactly the same color as the car, same tone as my Toyota parking assist...and does not look like aftermarket at all...

I think they were available as a dealer fit option rather than on the standard factory spec

How is the paint on the sensors? If it starts to bubble up that can cause the issue you are describing. They can be rubbed down and resprayed. Also run a piece of paper around the slit to make sure nothing is in there.

No problem with the paint, but I just reckoned a lot of wax/polish in the slit. I will clean them later today and see if that could do it.

That would be great!

Ok, so I am now 100% sure it´s an aftermarket addition, by Gemel Italia.

I opened everything up and looked for something that didn't look like Lexus original and I found a black small box with some odd wirings. I disconnected the wirings and front sensors went quiet.

Yippie!!!

Rear ones still beep as they should and the nicest part is that the sound from them only comes in rear speakers. Nice little feature!

What to do with the front ones....hm....winter project....right now I want to focus on driving my wonderful car!!!
