Brushing noise, front drivers side

Owned my second hand CT Advance for 5 months and recently, with windows down, I have noticed what I can only describe as a brushing or rubbing noise coming from the front driver’s side wheel. It seems linked to speed and is more noticeable when turning.

Tyre is getting close to the limit, could it be that? I can’t see any stones stuck in the tread and nothing obvious in the wheel arch.

I am no expert and this is the first post I have ever made on a forum so you can probably guess I am not very technical!

Any ideas or similar problems anyone?

Oddly, for the last 12 months my wife’s Mazda 2 has been making a louder brushing noise which again gets faster as the speed increases, but that turns into more of a click/tapping noise when going over about 30mph. Garage can not diagnose it.

If you can hear it at under 5 mph try lightly applying the brakes and see if the noise changes. It could be the brake sliding pins are starting to seize up. Unfortunately with a hybrid it is difficult to apply just the mechanical brakes above 5 mph as the hybrid system will do the braking first.
