LX 300 NO DRIVE

Hi

My wife tried to jump start our lx 300 and unfortunately connected the positive and negative jump leads the wrong way round, a lot of sparks from the Battery on the donor car the leads got very hot and now the lexus will start but once you select drive or reverse we have no drive in either direction, I know the electrics have been fried but does anybody have any ideas as to where to start.

Maybe the transmission solenoids had blown? I'm absolutely no expert but I vaguely recall people describing similar symptoms (gears not engaging) with those being defective.
