Stone Chip Repair !

Recommended Posts

I got a couple of paint chips on my driver's door which I attempted to repair on Saturday. So off I went and prepared : Last week I cleaned the area, and touched in the chips so that the paint just overlaps the surface.

This week I went out, cleaned the car, and decided to use some 1200 grit fine sand paper (soaked in soap) which was stuck on the end of a couple of pencil rubbers so that I could get real close in on the detail.

Good news : The paint smoothed back to the surface, and I managed to polish out the scratchy kinda glaze that's left. :)

Bad News : The edge of the sand paper made two nasty little marks which on closer inspection look as though it has gone back to the primer, and now looks worse than it started out !!! :crying:

I suppose it could be worse, but what a bitch ! I need to find out now if there is anyone in Bristol who can sort this out. (I also wanna find out if there are any college courses in car restoration !!)
