Checking Satnav Version ?

HI,

2001 LS430 DVD based Nav system. How on earth do you check the version of disc thats in there, the manual doesnt say anything about getting it from the display itself and the unit is bolted in the boot behind the chassis member so the DVD door wont open unless you unbolt it all and take it physically out first.

surely thats not the only way is it?. seems so badly designed that I cant believe they would do that?

are you sure its bolted down?

mine in the GS has 2 latches that let you move the whole unit in the boot to a 45deg angle to allow you to remove the disc from the front

Can take you through the system check on my 2005 LS and hope it is the same as yours.

Press menu button on dash and on the top right of the menu screen is a "map dvd" icon. touch this and the version and release date are shown on the screen. Hope this helps

Yup two 12mm bolts of all things.

By the way, does yours have postcode entry? mine only has telephone number entry but of the 20 or so Ive ever tried it doesnt have them stored (and 1 or 2 were large public buildings so dont know what numbers must be in there)

Yes I can load postcodes but I have not used this function so I cannot say if it works well or not.
