Is200 Spark Plugs

Morning all!!

First question, I popped off the air filter and housing etc. the other day and just had a look at my plugs, the gap on them is about 1mm, which seems quite large to me, is this right? There is also some red tinting on the end of the plug which again, is this normal, the car has just clocked 55,000 and I'm not sure if they will ever have been changed??

Secondly are there any better spark plugs about that I could use?

Any comments would be welcome.

1mm is about right. You can open the gap up if you use a high power ignition amplifier which will give better performance.

The HKS iridium plugs are about the best and cost £87 plus vat per set

Spike, I believe 60,000 miles is when they are due to be changed in the IS.
